Stopped into Bread + Butter on Elizabeth Street this morning around 7:40am after spending NYE in Launceston with friends. Being New Year’s Day (and after a few celebratory beers the night before), I was feeling a little tired and worse for wear.
From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by the absolutely lovely woman working solo on the front counter. Despite it being New Year’s morning and her being stuck at work, her friendliness and customer service were impeccable. She even sang my name back to me when repeating my order, and genuinely asked how my NYE was. Whether she genuinely cared or not didn’t matter, but she made me feel like I actually mattered in the moment — and that kind of interaction goes a long way.
The staff member on the coffee machine was just as lovely, wishing me a great rest of my day with a warm smile.
I left with an amazingly tasty coffee, a perfect croissant, and feeling genuinely refreshed from such a positive experience. What a place. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in Launceston!!
