Stayed here before and after climbing mount Kenya. Rooms sew really comfy with good showers and lovely terrace outside. Appreciated 2 pools so you can avoid the noisy kids. Food is very tasty and plentiful and they catered easily for dietary requirements. It's in a beautiful setting and very relaxing. We also went rafting on the duckies, which was great fun and the instructors were brilliant

After calling the place and receiving confirmation that it was open and activities available, drove all the way from Nairobi to reach there to be told there is no space and that they are fully booked. Mind you I even confirmed that same morning before leaving the house. They even said we cannot have food after we told them we had not eaten since morning. Apparently even the food was booked. I have no plans of ever going there.

It is a very nice place for camping, and a weekend get away for the whole family. There are various options of activities to keep one occupied. Boats drifting for those are thrilled by water,and many more and most of all very wonderful and supportive staff.

What a warm-hearted welcome I felt from Savage. Friendly instructors, very natural campside/base and delicious food. Thanks for making vegan diet possible. I enjoyed a lot the activities. Rafting with the jumping, sliding, swimmig, surfing was very adventurous. Thanks to Andreas for making the effort in giving clear and detailes instructions on how to paddle and how to be safe or being rescued. In the kayaking sessions we played a lot of games, which I didn‘t know before. As I‘m also a guide in a kayak (but on lake) some suggestions from guide to guide. Bring some variety and guest-lead program in. Variety: variety in warming-up games, kayak games, for example sometimes everyone against each other, two teams against each others, pair challenges. Learning the skills with games. Instead of always explaining the game with a demo, let people do it. Questions? Guest-lead: What are the expectations? Which skill do you wanna learn? How do we get there. Guest is king! Guest happy, everyone happy. Rollingtraining: more variety in explanations and pre excercises instead of only demonstration. Pool sessions before in the river. Offering googles.

My last visit to Savage Wilderness was 10 years ago, in August 2015. I would say not much has changed. The gateman is blunt, giving no welcoming feeling. The reception service was very basic, with no inviting information about the place. I had come to eat, but I wish Savage Wilderness could at least offer a canteen to accommodate more walk-ins.

We were three families staying for two nights and we had a wonderful time. The camp is beautifully located next to Tana river. One family stayed in a tent and two families stayed in rooms in small cabins. The basic rooms are not luxurious in any way, but they were perfect for our needs. We went rafting and the tour was a wonderful experience, with experienced and friendly instructors. Our kids were in the age of 9 - 14 and all of them loved the rafting. The kids aged 9 and 10 took the zip-line over Tana river. This is a short distance zip-line, but they liked it very much, and this ride would also be fun for younger kids. Kids aged 10 and 14 loved the archery. The two swimming pools were not very big, and not the cleanest, but good enough. The best experience was the bonfire at night, which the staff had prepared for us.

The rooms were horrible. It was filled with mosquitoes. The water was unclean and unhygienic - pumped into the rooms from the dirty stream. Won't recommend this place at all.
