Frazer Fountain

This is one of 2 drinking fountains donated by wealthy businessman, John Frazer around 1981. Both were specially designed and sculptured. It's lovely and of Baroque style and has Aberdeen granite in the water basin. This fountain shows the daily life in the use of water in 19th century. Piped water was rare, and drinking fountains were common. Free entry. Parking is difficult so advisable to use public transport. Watch for traffic around the area when visiting.

Gothic style sandstone fountain in the heart of Sydney. (Not a working fountain)

This is the first of two Frazer drinking fountains donated to the city by John Frazer MLC, a wealthy businessman and philanthropist. The fountains are both made of fine Pyrmont sandstone and were installed in 1881 and 1884 respectively. While both fountains were designed by City Architect Thomas Sapsord and sculpted by Mittagong sculptor Lawrence Beveridge, they are very different in style.

A small memorial in the middle of road ways. Good for a quick photo op.

It is a nice looking landmark, but it doesn’t appear to be a working fountain.

Interesting landmark. Was gifted by John Frazer, a rich businessman and philanthropist. Also check out "Frazer Fountain" as there are two listings, the two fountains are both unique in designs. A magnificent contribution to the public and the city of Sydney. NSW land and environment building framed this fountain with St Mary's Cathedral and Archibald Fountain nearby. Closest public parking station is Wilson's Car Park in the Domain. You can access directly from Wilson's Car Park via Hyde Park Express Walkway underground. This is at the corner of Prince Albert Rd & Saint Mary's Rd with its Baroque style.

Beautifully restored sandstone public drinking fountain; unfortunately at present the restoration has not included the return of the water taps.
