"Experience living history at this charming European brasserie, housed in a space that’s thought to have been the first tavern in the Americas. Opened in 1505 by a Dutch pirate, Pata de Hierro was a favorite hangout of buccaneers on Plaza España, facing the Alcazar de Colón. Since then, not a single change has been made to the interior’s original brick arches or stone walls, making it easy to imagine rowdy nights here in the 16th century. Close your eyes and picture the pirates as you dig into everything from charcuterie boards and tuna carpaccio to hearty short ribs, grilled Chilean sea bass, and squid ink risotto with langoustines."

We were a party of 2 to celebrate my husband’s birthday and we left disappointed. The service was poor and disorganized with no attention to the guests. The food was overpriced for the flavor, and frankly we left a minimal tip because we are good people. We did not feel the level of service was even tip-worthy. I would not return again, and do not recommend. We have been to many “best” restaurants in Santo Domingo, and this one should not be on the list of top restaurants. Our money would have been better spent elsewhere.

Very disappointing service. I ordered a drink three times and instead of telling me they couldn’t make it or something, they simply didn’t bring me anything. Food was ok, there is nothing special about this place.

We had lunch here and it's a beautiful location! Right there on the plaza in a row of restaurants, it offers a nice view of the people coming and going if you're seated outside. Inside it's cool and air conditioned. With the staff wearing pirate gear it's kind of cute and I think the decor reflects the theme. We had drinks, crispy apples and croquettes as appetizers which were all very good. For the main course it was steak and the goat cheese salad, the coconut curry shrimp, the mushroom risotto, and the mahi mahi. They were all good, though the sauce for the mahi mahi didn't have much flavor. It was a nice dining experience. Parking around the corner at the parking garage is about 100 pesos.

I love this restaurant in Santo Domingo! The food, the vibe, and the location are all amazing. That Bandeja Imperial appetizer was killer, with that awesome mix of fish and crispy octopus ceviche. We also had the Res Bourgiugnon and the Shrimp Curry, and they were both fantastic. So flavorful and well-balanced.

This is a must visit when coming to Santo Domingo especially for the first time. It is perfectly situated in the middle of the colonial city on the Plaza de España . With a wonderful view of the Alcanza de Colon. This restaurant has ample outdoor seating and is a hotspot in the evenings. The food is consistently good, and has many many offerings for any pallet to be satisfied.

The food was good, the place is beautiful, the service so so. We had to remind the waiters to bring the things... I'm still waiting for my coffee 😁. It happened with drinks mostly. Aside from that the menus are too big for the table and the info it contains. Is uncomfortable to have them. The restroom is on the 2nd floor. One has to go up and what if is an elder person? It is nice because you feel obligated to take a tour to the restaurant but the stairs are uncomfortable. Loved the food presentation and the way the waiters served the food. Well educated in the restaurant industry. Adding some pics. It was a party of 7, dinner, nice time.
