The Reef at Atlantis - Hotel Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"A stay at this tower within Atlantis is like living in your own paradisiacal apartment with a kitchen, living space, and ocean views. Marble floors, sleek sofas, and chandeliers fill public spaces. Atlantis’s 40 restaurants include several focusing on seafood: Try ancho chile–rubbed salmon at Mesa, conch fritters at Bimini Road. Swimming with dolphins is a highlight of activities on offer at man-made but effective Dolphin Cay."

"The Reef It seems there’s something for everyone atAtlantis Paradise Island Resort. While the tower that houses The Cove centers on adult-oriented fun, The Reef features family-friendly condo-style accommodations with kitchenettes that better help mom and dad budget and organize. All have private balconies, but the deluxe options have full ocean views and are steps from the beach. Reef guests share a private pool, called Cascades, and a section of coast with guests of The Cove, many of whom—to the benefit of Reef families—prefer the party scene at The Cove’s adults-only Cain Pool. Though the Reef sits at the far end of the Atlantis complex, with almost no dining options of its own, all of the resort’s attractions and activities are only a short walk or free shuttle ride away."

We absolutely LOVED the reef. We had a 1 bedroom Oceanview King room (with a double or queen pull out bed) with a huge balcony and full kitchen. Everything looked brand new. The rooms were very large and the main bathroom was huge as well. The rooms were well appointed, clean and I had the best sleep in years in that bed.. It was very quiet as well. We never heard anyone in halls or in the next rooms. The cleaning staff were fantastic, making sure you had everything we needed and going above an beyond.|We went in May and the lines for the slides weren't very long. Maybe 5-10mins. Some slides you got on right away so that was great. The rapid river was awesome as well - it loops around and goes by all the slides so at the end of the thrill rides, you end up back in the rapids. Weather was fantastic as well. Needless to say, we had a blast at the water park and there is no lack of things to see and do at any of these resorts with the marine habitats, dolphin cay, beaches, snorkeling lagoons, shopping, golfing, and nightlife..|There are water stations everywhere and reusable water bottles are provided.|Food is very expensive in the Bahamas and tips are usually already included on the bill so be aware of that. Atlantis had a meal plan but I can no longer find the info online (it was 2 meals per day at select restaurants) but you had to book at least 4 days in advance of arrival otherwise you are paying as you go. Regardless, children 5 & under eat free here.|Just be prepared for a lot of walking, the resorts spans over 4 main resorts!|No complaints (except the price of food/drinks)!

We are a family of 5 (2 adults & 3 teen/pre-teens). We stayed 4 nights at the Reef. I'm glad we went to Atlantis during the low season. I can't imagine the place crowded. ||||The Reef was nice. The walk was not a problem for us. The rooms were large, kitchen was set up nicely. We made breakfast in the room every day. For such a large bathroom, there wasn't anywhere to hang up bath towels or wet bathing suits. ||||We all really enjoyed the rapids river and marine life exhibits. The water slides were fun, but not the best we've been on. We also tried the Good Lies mini golf and enjoyed that.||||The food prices at Atlantis were extremely high for mediocre quality. We have no problem paying for good food but this was an obvious money grab.||||We may come back one day but, we don't feel the urge to rush back.

I can’t be more satisfied with our stay at the Reef. Nice room, very clean. Daily room service. The beach is not too big most of the time is calm and enjoyable. All the restaurants nearby offer really good food, kind of pricey I have to say. If you travel with children this is a great choice since you can deal with meal prep at the room. The only downside is that sometimes you deal with some “angry” staff.

We stayed there as a family of five and experienced much of the property, activities, and dining. We love it and want to go again soon. My eldest daughter and I snorkeled the ruins, and, oh boy, was this something to remember. We have to say that the Playtime with the Dolphins was, overall, the best family activity we had. It was thorough, entertaining, and informative. The team at the property is doing such a great job of extending the lives of these dolphins by giving them a home and purpose. I never thought these animals could be extremely vulnerable if they were released back to the wild. The best place for a meal was Fish; it was highly rated by the entire family, no contest. The prices are up there on some of these premium experiences, but well worth it considering. We are definitely going back soon and can't wait to go back there and continue to explore more.

The Reef is an amazing hotel. 20 to 25 minutes away from airport. The rooms are very nice and well equipped. This hotel is part of the Atlantis. It has free entrance to the water park, which is great, especially when you have kids. We loved it an we will be back next year

We stayed at The Reef, and had a wonderful experience. We liked being away from the main part of the resort, but it's an easy walk to all the activities, and our pool, beach and views were wonderful. Our room was big, and the bathroom was big with 2 sinks, and we had a fridge, microwave, stove top, dish washer, dishes, glasses, deep sink, etc. The beds were very comfortable, and the room was very clean with nice renovations.

The hotel is beautiful, and the rooms are spacious and the views are spectacular, but be warned, if you have friends staying at the Royal or other hotels at Atlantis resort, they will not be permitted to visit your room unless you want to pay a daily fee of $75 +VAT+HOUSEKEEPING. THEY ARE VERY STRICT ON THIS POLICY THAT WAS ARBITRARILY CREATED.||||||Also, at this time of year, only 25% of the Waterpark and some restaurants are open due to the slower season and number of guests.

Atlantis is amazing! Yes it's huge and you walk a lot! There's so much to do or the perfect place to just relax beside the pool or on the beach. The rooms were huge and had a well stocked kitchenette. The Waterpark was fun for a day or two but after that we were done with it. The beaches were clean and the lifeguards were attentive. Once lightening and thunder started they effectively got everyone off the beach and inside. The shuttle ran regularly and was free so that was nice. Now for the only downside.... the food is horrible! Worse than horrible actually! It's loaded with MSG which made my son and I very sick. The food is very expensive and is worse than fast food. The pizza place was the only halfway decent place. Atlantis really is awesome and we would recommend it but would warn of the terrible food!
