Tjing Tjing House

Had an intimate date night at Tjing Tjing House. The ambience set the scene, service was impeccable, the food arrived quickly and was incredible. Best edamame and mochi in Cape Town! There were lots of vegan and vegetarian options on offer. I would recommend ordering a minimum of 4 - 6 dishes to share between 2 people. I can't wait to be back and sample more delicious treats! Yes, the 100 stairs are absolutely worth it -because at the top waits the sexiest red bar in town. Tjing Tjing delivers mouthwatering cocktails and pulled beef baos that kick off an evening you know you won’t forget. And the name? Tjing Tjing is the Chinese toast for “cheers” - so every sip here feels like an invitation to celebrate, again and again. As they say: “If the name means cheers, the night has already begun.” Final toast: To stairs that lead to magic, cocktails that set the tone, and nights that start with a proper tjing tjing.

Exceptional experience! Amazing and tasty food. The venue is multi-floor and caters to any event. We had a tour after thanking the chef personally and really enjoyed it. If you have not been there, you have to go! We had a three course meal but forgot to take photos of the other dishes (it was soooo good)

Honestly impeccable service and seriously delicious food! We went to Tjing Tjing House on First Thursday and were pleasantly surprised to find a drink special - 2 drinks for R180, which was such a great deal. The portions might look small, but don’t be fooled, they’re super filling and packed with flavour. The atmosphere is vibrant yet intimate, and the staff are warm, attentive! Whether you’re there for dinner or just a few cocktails on the rooftop, it’s a top-tier experience. Definitely a must-visit spot in Cape Town, especially on a first Thursday night!

We saw the restaurant because of a recommendation on YouTube. We were in the areas and decided to go check it out, and it did not disappoint. As soon as we walked in, we were served by our amazing waiter Kat, who gave us a brief insight on the menu, and recommended a few dishes. We had the chicken bao buns/ hirata, and the chicken and sweet potato gyozas. It was all incredibly yummy, although I do have to comment that the chicken gyozas were quite spicy. The hiratas were the best I’ve ever had!! For anyone in the area, I can only advise to check out this great place.

The food at Tjing Tjing House was okay, but the service was extremely disappointing. Two staff members were very nonchalant and treated us strangely compared to other customers. The female staff member dropped our food on the table without saying a word and gave off a very bad vibe. She and her male coworker were giggling and looking at us, and they kept staring at me and my friend from afar in a way that felt mocking. This made us feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome. The male staff member also had a mocking laugh whenever he came to our table. What stood out was how differently they treated other customers — serving them politely and placing items nicely on their tables, while we were clearly treated with much less care. The behaviour was unprofessional and made the entire experience uncomfortable.

This venue is truly a multi-level masterpiece where every single floor offers its own unique and compelling reason to visit. Starting at the bottom, the food in the restaurant is absolutely world-class and packed with flavor. Moving up, the private dining area in the middle provides an exclusive, intimate atmosphere that is perfect for special occasions. Finally, the super amazing cocktails at the top floor bar come with a view that is second to none.

The food was seriously tasty! The portions are extremely generous. LOVED the mochi donuts - so so good. Sadly - the general atmosphere was really lacking. It’s got such good potential. Put some music on and dim the lights with a bit of decor and it will make a huge difference. If you’re looking for an amazing ramen bowl - this is the place!!
