We were looking for a last-minute teppanyaki spot in Tokyo and ended up at atelier 森本 XEX — and what a great decision it was. The entire experience was phenomenal. The restaurant is apparently associated with a famous American chef, and there were quite a few American guests (some a bit loud), but the atmosphere overall was elegant and lively.
The staff was incredibly friendly and professional. One dish from the set menu didn’t work for us, and they adjusted it without any issue — which we had mentioned in advance. The menu itself was fantastic, the meat was top-tier, and they had a great selection of sake to go along with it.
What really stood out was our chef — fluent in English, super personable, and genuinely fun to talk to. It made the experience feel both high-end and personal at the same time.
Yes, it’s very expensive — but it was absolutely incredible. One of my favorite spots in Tokyo so far, and I really can’t wait to go back.
