This is spot is perfect for finding your next favorite collective or plushie. The highlight of this store is definitely the variety. It’s a joy to look around and take in all the wonderful different designs and types of blind boxes they sell here. Worth a trip if you’re in the area, even if it’s just to browse all the cute things in the store!

A cool collectible toy store filled with designer toys, blind boxes, some art prints, and the staff was very friendly on my visit. One thing that is neat about this store is that if you open a blind box in store, if you don’t like your pull, you can swap it out for the display of the same blind box.

My daughters love this place. All toys are in reasonable retail price, not being intentionally marking high even in such a high rent area. We found many unique toys and popular toys. smiski, bearbrick, blind boxes, etc. most importantly, the exchange program is awesome. You have a chance to exchange the blind box toy you purchase with the display toy. Which is an amazing idea. We have been there for a few times… will definitely returning soon.

A very unique store that should appeal to collectors and blind box fans. Probably 90% of the items in this store you wouldn't see anywhere else! Also generous blind box policy that as long as the box is opened in store after purchase, you have the option to swap the one you just got with the one on display for that item. Also a good selection of one of a kind figurines. I got a cute robot that was reasonably priced. Some of the more complex designs are more pricey.

Oh my gosh, what an amazing place! Stumbled upon it the other day and loooove it. The selection and the art are both top notch. Got a couple little treasures for myself. The staff were so welcoming and kind too. Highly recommend! Hope to be back soon.

I absolutely love Rotofugi. Rotofugi has an amazing selection of blind boxes and other trinkets and art dolls. If you open your blind box in store and like the display figure more than the one they pulled, you can swap it out. Do be aware that a lot of the figure series don't get restocked. I had to finish a set online from a different retailer because they didn't restock at Rotofugi. So, if you fall in love with a whole set, be prepared to spend. The prices are nice compared to a lot of online retailers though--and no shipping makes it so much more gratifying. The service there is awesome, by the way. The employees are angels.

Such a cute little store! I love blind boxes and this has so many cutes one (they have sonny angels!). I love their in store trading policy they have too! I'll definitely have to come back for more sonny angels and smiskis!

Don't get me wrong - I am not huge into collectibles by any means, but I do love a good blind box from time to time, and Rotofugi always delivers. The selection is cool and the staff is friendly. In terms of price, it is a bit expensive (say, $10-$20 on average per blind box), but I understand and appreciate it for what it is. Plus, I love that they spotlight different visual artists from Chicago.

This is another of those what I call " Holy Grail " stores ! Just an amazing store that sells so many blindboxes and limited editions. Everywhere you look is another surprising delight. The staff is amazing and knowledgeable in answering questions. They also have art exhibitions too. One of my favorite stops when I was in Chicago. As I get time I will add more pics.

Amazing store and art gallery! I just happened to be in the area and the store caught my eye so I dragged all my friends in. And wow I'm so glad I did! It's filled to the brim with interesting, quirky, meticulously detailed art and toys. The line between art and toy is definitely blurry. I could spend HOURS in here, honestly it was way better than a lot of actual "art" museums/experiences. I must warn you if you have an addiction to blind boxes (like me) this place is DANGEROUS bc of the selection! Proceed with caution haha. I love their blind box exchange policy which means you can open any blind box you purchase (while you're still in the store) and trade it with one of the display toys if you don't like what you got. So fun!!

I had been here years ago and when I was planning a field trip with 14 middle schoolers from Detroit I knew we had to stop here. The employees were so friendly and welcoming! They took group photos and answered so many questions. Highly recommend!

Rotofugi is a designer toy store but is also discribed as an art gallery. I wasn't really sure what made it an art gallery until I went inside. Honestly, the items might as well be art pieces. I bought a super cute bag for about $80 and it was honestly worth every penny. I can see myself coming back for some cute little knick knacks and I want another bag but next time I'm going for the fanny pack. The employees were awesome and all covid measures were taken. Even though it is a toy store, I would recommend any kid at heart adult to come here as well because some items are more expensive and definitely more styled towards an older person who has eyes for cute/kawaii items some would say are for kids. If I could buy out the store, I would. Everything was just so absolutely adorable that I almost burst of joy.

Found this gem because I just got into Sonny Angel's and they carry them! Not only do they have a great trading policy, but they even helped me out with a shipment order, do to me being super far from their location! Shipping was SUPER FAST. Definitely recommend stopping in, or ordering off their site, you won't be disappointed!

This place has got some of the weirdest toys, but fun to look around. I did find what I think are Corgi figures. I bought the last two they had. Young lady up front was very friendly. Very colorful store and unique.

My daughters loved stopping by this Asian toy store & art gallery. There were Hello Kitty, Pusheen, & Tokidoki clothing as well as many figurines. Both my daughters bought blind boxes with a surprise figurine. They also found a gudetama plush toy. They actually said I made a good choice in finding the store.

This is a very cool shop, that not only has a unique collection of toys, stationary, and clothes, but also art! There is a gallery portion with art that rotates out. I loved looking at the exhibit as well as all the neat knick-knacks they had. I would recommend Rotofugi to anyone who loves tiny little cute things, colorful art/clothing, pop art, collectibles, etc. -- whether to look at, or to purchase. The people who worked here were very kind and let us peruse for as long as we pleased. The only drawback is that the items were on the expensive side, but it was fun to look nonetheless!

I don't totally understand this place, but I don't care. I love the idea of a toy store that isn't just yet another Target toy aisle. What are all these creatures and statues and collectibles? Probably ask the friendly staff. They have stuff for the kids or for your inner kid. Don't forget to checkout their gallery too. There's a bunch of great artists displayed. One suggestion I have is with the clothing. Are there men's sizes? I saw a lot of Women's labels on all their hats. So I just assumed there wasn't any men's sizes around. But I love Sanrio stuff and the designs of some of this stuff. Seems like it's catered though to girls and women. Which is totally fine. But if there are men's sizes, it was lost on me. If you're in the need of toys or games definitely visit. You are guaranteed to find something interesting you aren't going to find at most places.

A designer toy store and art gallery in one. Stopped in to find some goods, and found an anomalous selection of baby/kids toys. My son picked out a mechanical toy of a cute pink bear that spins a young boy 360. He loves it. It entertains him, and he occasionally chews on it. They also had an eccentric arrangement of stuffed animals. I was looking for a Sloth, one of my son's favorite animals, and the only sloth they had did not really resemble a sloth. Needless to say, if you're interested in unconventional toys/gifts, this is the store to visit.

My boyfriend were wandering around the area and stopped in on a whim while visiting Chicago last summer. I was blown away by the assortment of vinyl toys and art pieces. I have been collecting little figurines for my desk at work for a couple of years, and now since I've been working from home, I wanted a couple for my WFH desk. Rotofugi has a lot of blind boxes, which are mystery boxes that contain different figurines from all types of artists and collections. I ended up getting a little cat figure and he is so cute on my desk! We also bought a sushi cat blind box, in the hopes that we'd get the cat figure that looks strikingly similar to our actual cat. Unfortunately we didn't get that one, but the one we got is still very cute. That's the fun of blind boxes! The attached art gallery was really fun to explore, too. They also have a couple racks of apparel, plushies, stickers, so much fun stuff to look at. We got a free Lincoln sticker with our purchase, which was a nice little souvenir as we collect stickers while on vacation. I'm really glad we stopped in and got some fun items.

Man this place was such a surprise find!! I was waiting for a table at a nearby restaurant and decided to wander down the street. See...the thing about Chicago is that it is a walking type city...when you drive you miss so much. So as i strolled down the street I come across what I thought was an art studio, but upon further investigation it was more than just an awesome art studio, it also was a store full of amazing Japanese "cartoon" collectables. I am positive that there is a very specific name for this genre of items but I am not a connoisseur so I don't know, however, whatever it's proper name is, it was COOL! The little dolls and collectables ranged from the low end of $1.25 erasers to upwards of $70-$80 for full dolls...The art is not to be missed either. They were reasonably priced and very beautiful and ranged from movies to current even art/paintings (so not Japanese anime specific). I will definitely return with my daughter!!

Though I live in Miami and Rotofugi is in Chicago, I acquired two art works through the gallery. The website is operated flawlessly with multiple images and precise explanations of the art offered. The checkout was smooth and easy. Both sculptures were reasonably priced and exciting pieces. The agents were exceptionally professional and followed through on all details. Email communications were fast and courteous. Packing and shipping performed with success and with the safety of the art put first. I've been collecting for 40 years; I highly recommend this gallery!

Wish I had something like this where I live! I am a huge art toy lover so this was somehwere I had to stop on my trip. They have a great selection of high end collectibles and fun little blind boxes that anyone can enjoy. They also have a really great policy on blind boxes where if you open it in store and like a display one better you can trade! That was awesome, especially as someone who tends to like specific figures in big collections. Even if you just go to have a look it's a really cool toy store/art gallery combo.

Kawaii art at its best! Wiki defines "kawaii" as the Japanese culture of cuteness. But Rotofugi manages to surpass this concept by presenting well-curated pieces in a direct and uncluttered fashion, lined up against the walls or atop the IKEA-like open shelves. In the back, is what I surmise as an art gallery of sorts. I regretted not finding the time to peek into this section of the shop as I was rushing to catch the uber ride I just requested. Against the backdrop of the brownstone buildings stands this charming and dare I say cute store. I walked around and inspected a few intriguing pieces. Finally settled on a few erasers (hedgehog, etc!), a glitter sticker sheet, and zipper pulls. Once a kid, forever a kid, I say. I wish I had purchased the hedgehog piece that came with an acorn (such lovely conversation pieces, would have sat beautifully on my work desk, keeping an eye out on kids I work with in occupational therapy, who will find it irresistible. I can't blame them, but why tempt?). But going back to the hedgehog set--it was well above $200. Ahh, my disappointed heart... The owner, by the way, is beyond nice and kind. I can understand how or why this is his store (which he co-owns with his wife, who also enjoys and collects the same things).

This is such a cool store. We stop every time we come through Chicago. It's so fun and colorful! My kids are into Gudetama and Toki Doki stuff and they're not available around where we live, so this place is such a treat for them. Things range in price from a few bucks to a couple hundred. There's also art on the walls for sale which is always interesting. It's definitely worth a stop!

To be honest im not really sure how to describe this place. Walking in you quickly realized that is no average toy store. This is a high end toy store and price go to match that. I will say you are paying for quality items. The staff were all friendly and very informative when asked about some of their items. I will say that i did find myself some new top tier animated characters such as Mozzarella and thr Moofis. This place is cool and definitely work the stop. The reason i give it 4 stars is because there wasn't a lot of main stream items there. And that ok. Because for the items that do carry they are great.

Ever since I moved with my aunt last summer, I've never had a chance to spend time with my niece. And so last week I decided to spend our time together this week, we were about to go home and we happen to pass by this store. It had a really good interior and has a lot of options to choose from. after almost an hour of choosing a bunch of toys we ended up buying plushies aside from that, Rotofugi has a lot of blind boxes, which are mystery boxes that contain different figurines from all types of artists and collections. We ended up getting 2 little cat figures and a cute chef-like dinosaur, we bought three blind boxes by the way. And of course, all of it ended up in my niece's room. Our experience here is what completed our day, we had so much fun unveiling the mystery item in our boxes. I would definitely swing by here some other time because this place is also perfect for kids at heart like me.

One of my favorite places to shop for collectors toys & plenty more! I don't go too often, but when I do it's beyond difficult to leave without buying some gorgeous goodies. They sell adorable plushies, stickers, art magazines, posters, etc.. They even have a lovely art gallery that connects to the shop. Everyone there is really friendly and super chill. Lastly, there are events that occur at the shop every so often. I met one of my favorite artists there and I definitely have Rotofugi to thank for that. I used to shop at their previous location as well, so I'm definitely a long-time fan.

Ever walk by a store having absolutely no idea what it is but know that you needed to check it out? That's exactly what happened when I passed by Rotofugi on Sunday. When you enter this place you are surrounded by collectible figures/toys, t-shirts, pillows, office supplies, and some of the coolest art you'll see in the area. The first half of the store had a ton of Kid Robot, Funko, and other collectible figures that I had to restrain myself from purchasing. The front had some shirts along with special collections I have never seen before. I'm not fully sure if all the art on the walls are for purchase but they've got some extremely creative stuff. The second room is dedicated to tokidoki and has plenty of bags, figurines, plushies, shirts, and jackets to satisfy any fan. This store is a fantastic addition to the Lincoln Park neighborhood and definitely worth stopping at if you are into collectibles, art, or just looking at cool stuff.

A toy store for the big kids! It is definitely a "designer" toy store. Even though everything looks like it is geared towards young children, it is really more for the adult collector who likes to look and admire rather than play. Their store is very cool. It's located at the corner of two streets and is shaped like a triangle. You walk in and there are display cases everywhere. Stuff animals, blind boxes, and huge statues cover the room. I liked the layout, but at the same time, the place seemed pretty empty. They may need to add a little more inventory to so it looks more inviting, but if they are going for a gallery look, then they are right on the money. I did have a chance to talk to the owners (or a couple who worked there) and they seemed pretty stuck up when I asked about the difference between their store and the Kidrobot store in SF. Looks like they are very protective of their store. This store is way bigger than the Kidrobot store in SF and has the same items and more. I bought the Street Fighter and Futurama blind boxes. The prices were reasonable. Less than ten bucks for both. I can see the appeal of the blind box. You hate it, yet love it at the same time. The anticipation and excitement gets you. Once you open the box, you will either be extremely happy or disappointed. It's all in fun. They have an online store so if you don't want to make the trek out to the actual store (which is pretty far from downtown Chicago btw), you can easily access them from the convenience of your own computer.

AMAZING!! If you really take the time to look through everything this store is so interesting. I don't remember the last time I was this excited for toys. I wanted to buy everything. I wouldn't even say I'm that big into cartoons or anime or in that area of pop culture but this store was truly amazing. Definitely check out a mystery box (there are many choices inside) for an interesting experience! ALSO they ship things for you which is a plus!

This place is awesome - I'm not a huge toy guy, but could say there is something for nearly everyone here. Some fun toys, collectibles, enamel pins, an art gallery, stuff for the home, silly stuff, etc. I think this is an awesome place to buy a gift for someone and make it feel personal. The staff was very awesome and we spoke for a long time about art and other fun topics of interest. Highly recommend stopping by in the area if anything for it's eclectic nature. Also cool that you can rent the space out for events.

Bottom line: While most of the vinyl toys are meant for collectors, children with discerning tastes will be well served here in the gift department with reasonably priced blind boxes, unusual plushies (check out the Pecanpals) and tees. $5 to $40 range. Inspiring collection of the best designer toys with something in every price range ($5 to several hundred). Mostly new vinyl, maybe a tiny selection of vintage Japanese. Lots of one of kind pieces and big names here. More Secret Base than I've ever seen in one place in person. If you have understood this review so far...you are drooling perhaps. If you are into graphic design or toys at all, you really must go. _________________________________________________________ I want to give you six stars, Rotofugi. The best big kid toy store I've been to in the US. Designer vinyl toys to make you cry. Bigger, badder and more dangerous now that they've consolidated all their holdings into one giant, light filled space. The gallery is beautiful, huge. It's as big as La Luz de Jesus in LA! I had the pleasure of attending the opening of Ralph Cosentino and Martin Tsu (Ruby Gloom fame) during this sojourn to Chi-Town. My heart was happy, my wallet was lighter and my walls now have 3 Cosentino prints! (I'm braggggging!) Thank you to the owners and staff for being so kind, so approachable. No hipper than thou at Rotofugi, thanks! Thank you for shipping my prints happily, explaining things to me and...even giving me great tips on where to eat in town!

These aren't the toys we were looking for. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with the place..just not our cup of tea. My 7yr old son spotted a couple interesting things but the majority of the stuff in here is more suited for teens to adults. I added a star for their attached art gallery, which had some cool stuff. They had a pretty slick Star Wars AT-AT that we really liked.

They also have a fantastic gallery featuring some of the best artists from all around the world. They take a personal interest in their customers and their wants/needs. Thank you for moving! You're SOOOO much closer to my house (making it easier to buy all kinds of things I don't need)! This place has a great (primarily designer vinyl) toy selection in a variety of price ranges. If you're into toys & kitch, this is your place. They also have books, art, and even apparel. The staff is friendly & knowledgeable. They also have a great space for art exibits with a lot more room than he previous space. I saw the last exhibit about 2 weeks ago & am excited to head to the opening reception of the new exhibit tonight.

Popped in here while walking the other day, to warm up. No one needs anything that's in this store, but somehow . . . you want stuff. If you have a fetish for Japanese cute stuff, as I do, you'll love this place. And I liked the "I love the smell of vinyl." tee shirts, 'cos I kind of . . . do. Ah, but I avoid tees with "sayings" on them. I didn't buy anything, 'cos *laughs* I got nuthin'! I'd come back here for silly, cute - albeit somewhat expensive, for what they are - gifts. There were some cheaper items in here, tiny things and cute, interesting buttons. Wide variety of price points, really. The guy working here was also charming and friendly, and really sweet to my "just browsing and warming up" ass.

I finally had the opportunity to stop in here. This place is an adult toy store and I really liked it. This place is perfect to find things to put on your desk at work. Everyone has the mug..."World's Greatest Boss" but if you shop here you can get a Marsh mellow puking!!! Now that is a perfect addition to any desk. (I know it sounds bad but it is done really tastefully...pun intended) It was a bunch of fun to walk around and check out the different toys. I found a Hugh Heffner doll too. I wonder if Hef knows...he would love it. Attention marketing department...mail one to the Playboy Mansion. I also loved that one of the dolls had a brick mobile phone. I had to try and explain to my little one that cell phones were that big. Sad part is that the guy behind the counter also was learning from my story too. Am I really that old? Great use of space...there is also an art gallery here too. I love there new space...I remember when they were crammed in on Chicago Ave. So if your looking for some cool and unique toys for your desk, then this is the place!!!

This gallery is the sh_t. Go if you like cool things. Do not go if you hate your life. Just kidding, but seriously - Rotofugi is amazing and every city should have a comparable gallery. Space + toys + art selection + friendly albeit sort of hipster snooty staff. (Quit hitting on my Filipino girlfriend!) ;) Keep being awesome RotoF.

I went here on a whim while on a day trip to Chicago. This store is fun, especially if you are into collecting figurines like Funko, Tokidoki, etc. I had a fun time checking out the different options. They had lots of Pusheen plush which were hard for me to ignore but I managed to avoid it. This store is dangerous! So many cute, small, cheap things. You can't stop! There are stickers, keychains, small figurines, buttons, patches, pins, notepads, and way more. All of these things are cheap but add up! I really liked the selection of art prints they had. I didn't have enough to purchase them at the time but wrote down a few of the artists so I can look them up later. The man at the register was very nice and helpful. I had picked up a capsule toy and thought it was like a blind box, but he said I could just open them up to make sure I got the one I wanted. It's a fun place to check out. I wouldn't say go way out of your way if you just want to look, but it's a good way to kill some time.

Awesome art shop that you're able to rent and sell artwork at. Very neat and original shop with tons of cool toys and art for sale. Couchs to take a break as well. Staff was nice. Very spacious.

Listen, as an artist this is the best toy/art gallery I've ever been to! You'll find everything from Coarse, Kozik, Mr. Clement to name a few! If you don't collect art it's still a cool place to go with the family. Check it out and get a pizza across the street! The owner Kirby is one of the nicest dudes ever!

This place is so fun. All your little kawaii toy dreams in one place. Decent sized Tokidoki selection. The blind box policy is awesome, if you open in store and don't like, you have the option to exchange for the one on display. They also have artwork by local artists on the walls and I wanted sooooo much of it. Great place to spend a half hour!
