"Marrakech's Eponymous Parisian-Style Brasserie It would be almost churlish to come to Marrakech and not experience Grand Café de la Poste. After opening in the 1920s, it fast became a lively brasserie and meeting place, and much of the rest of the neighborhood sprung up around it, establishing Gueliz as the city’s most fashionable quarter. After a revamp in 2005 brought a breezy, colonial-style vibe to the verandas (a smashing spot for an alfresco lunch) and transformed the first floor into a luxe wood-paneled bar complete with real log fireplaces, leather armchairs, and crimson rugs, it is today one the city’s most iconic haunts. The food is reassuringly comfortable, too, with staunchly Parisian dishes such asleeks vinaigrette, skate wing with beurre blanc and capers, and crisp-skinned roast baby chicken and chips topping the bill."

Nice setting and great service, but the food is way too expensive for what it is. We went there fore just a light lunch, since we had big plans for dinner. We got the heirloom tomato salad and the grilled monkfish with curry sauce. The tomatos tasted like good supermarket tomatoes, but for the price, they should have been way better. The monkfish was cooked just right, but the sauce lacked flavor, and again, for the price it was quite expensive. I think this might be better suited for a coffee and a pastry rather than lunch.

Lovely building. We seated inside for dinner to enjoy the beautiful architecture and atmosphere. Sweeping staircase. Waiter was excellent, very attentive and friendly. We started the evening with some Spritz which were very refreshing, moving on to one of the half bottles of wine. Shared a camembert, bread was included. Then a salmon main and calamari main, both excellent. The millefeuille was equally excellent, and the grand marnier soufflé was light and tasty. Very enjoyable evening.

The environment is very upmarket here, with staff for every aspect, such as greeting, menu giving, toilets etc. The inside looks amazing and the outside "terracy" and green. Others were given menus, I waited until I had to ask. Then we waited more, we had only been given drinks menus. Eventually, once we felt unwanted, we decided to leave as we had lost our positivity with the place. It felt like we were the wrong sort of people. Maybe we just slipped through the net, but it does look amazing and inviting inside and out.

We'd heard a lot about this cafe and finally decided to visit it with friends after three years of living in Marrakech, we were very disappointed with the quality of service here. The waiters and hostess showed absolutely no friendliness, hospitality, or attention to us,guests. Between the three of us, we spent almost 1,400 dirhams, including an extra drink. In the photo: salmon tartare (5/10) was off-putting due to the fish's texture; beef tartare (7/10) didn't have enough flavor; duck leg confit (8/10) was sooooo fatty. I liked the interior; I didn't expect it to be so nice, but the service ruined everything. We were there on October 17, 2025.

This is such a lovely place for drinks, coffee or a meal. The location is perfect for those staying in the newer part of town and the service is very kind. We had some excellent wine, and an onion and anchovy tart, which was absolutely delicious. The Gueliz neighborhood s a lovely departure from the chaos of the Medina. Many famous people have enjoyed spending time at this cafe including Winston Churchill, Jean Paul Sartre and Yves Saint Laurent, and I can see why they loved it. Every detail is considered from the terrace to the bathrooms. It is understated but elegant.

Great place, great food, great music! Looks deceptively dingy from the outside but don’t let that fool you - the inside is elegant and refined. Food is amazing and we caught a jazz set that perfectly meshed with the whole vibe. Heartfelt recommendation!

We had an early dinner, so the place was busy without being crowded. It was filling up as we left, just after 8.30pm. There's not a huge vegetarian choice, so we had a couple of starters plus sides to make up a meal. The food was tasty, well presented & good value. We had burrata plus the roasted camembert, so a bit cheesy, but very enjoyable. The building is great & the service was good. My wife reports that the toilets were spotless! We're planning to go back as it was a great experience.
