"Watching the river flow by with a margarita in hand is one of the best ways to while away an afternoon in San Antonio, and at Casa Rio, you can do just that. The restaurant’s colorful umbrellas have lined the River Walk since 1946, providing a postcard-perfect backdrop for sampling enchiladas, flautas, fajitas, and, of course, icy-cold margaritas. The oldest restaurant on the riverfront, Casa Rio is beloved for its authentic Tex-Mex cuisine, but its real charm lies in its ambience. Request an outdoor table and let your worries float away with the river. Just be sure to decide between frozen and on the rocks first."

What happened to this iconic San Antonio Mexican restaurant on the Riverwalk? It had been 10+ years since I’d eaten here. Used to bring my kids here when they were younger. I’m here on business, so I decided to stop by and have a quick dinner for nostalgia’s sake. Kind of disappointing. To be clear, the service was still very good. Super friendly staff. And the atmosphere and location is good — I mean, it’s on the Riverwalk for heavens sake. But the food was really just average. To be specific: Chips - 3 out of 5 Queso - 4 out of 5 Pollo Asado w/Poblano Sauce - 2 of 5 Refried beans - 3 of 5 Mexican rice - 3 of 5 Flour tortillas - 4 out of 5 (fresh and hot!) Seriously, there are so many other Mexican places to choose from, that Casa Rio needs to go back to their roots and figure where they lost their way. Sorry to be so blunt, guys.

We went there for 2 main reasons: vegetarian options and riverfront views and were happy with both. The server was ok and so was the food - we expected more flavor. The rice was really good. Just FYI, chips and salsa aren't free but they are very reasonably priced. We ordered the following: Salsa - fresh Queso - good Guac - ok Veg fajita - decent Veg Enchiladas - ok Vegan chalupa - ok, got tostada Veg nachos - only bean and cheese, got charged extra for adding jalapenos for flavor

Google
Best restaurant on the river walk, hands down. The wait was decent on a holiday (~15min). Our server was so kind & prompt - every item came out on a respectable interval, given how busy the restaurant was. And there was just so much food. The guac was so fresh. Salsa was so good. Everything was great. I will definitely come back on my next visit.

Google
The location is just perfect! You can relax and have a nice view of the Riverwalk. The service is friendly and fast and I really liked the horchata. The only thing because I’m giving 4 starts is because the food was mid, it’s not the best but it’s not the worst either.

Google
Casa Rio continues to deliver amazing food for decades. It was so amazing. Our server was such a sweet and kind person. The weather was a little chilly so we ate inside. The band would stop by to see if you would like to hear a song. Overall, I highly recommend this location if you are near the river in San Antonio.

Google
Great Mexican restaurant. Prices are very good considering it's location on the river walk. I had a special called the deluxe plate, it was very good. The chili con carne was a pleasant surprise. Our server Alva provided excellent service. The margaritas are great. The salsa with the chips and salsa is some of the best I have had.

Google
Dinner at Casa Rio is a total must! It’s a right of passage to eat at a cheesy Tex Mex spot right on the water! It’s basically the Riverwalk’s grandparent. I played chef and ordered a shrimp bowl with rice and cheese (highly recommend) and, because this is San Antonio, we hired a mariachi band to serenade us right at the table. And absolutely, it made the meal taste even better. Service was almost too fast! I was enjoying my time!

Google
Good Mexican singers and the food is awesome. Exactly beside the Riverwalk. Service is really good too. I notice that older white Americans love this place because it gives them a nostalgic sensation of the good old days.

Yelp
I wanted to love this restaurant because the atmosphere is amazing and the service wasn't bad but the truth is the chips were horrible in the case it wasn't that great. We did like their salsa and we also liked the guac but the chips and the queso and the tortillas were just kind of blah. If I had to guess I'm going to assume that the chips probably came out of a bag. You know this place has been around like 100 years so who am I to tell you that the food is not good but it just wasn't great! I think you should try it for yourself and leave a review and let us know.

Yelp
A great option to peoplewatch, dine or enjoy a happy hour sitting by the riverwalk. They have mariachi offering to play at your request - pay per song. The place is large with private dining halls, Riverwalk sitting both indoor and outdoor and a couple floors/levels. The food is your typical Mexican (americanised) food but it's good and the staff are nice. Most people uber/lyft to the area due to limited parking but they do have a small back parking lot if you're driving. Being by the riverwalk, the spaces are narrow and there are a lot of stairs to go up or down so be prepared to walk. I did notice an elevator nearby which would make certain levels handicap accessible. Something to note, we had a large party in a private catered room and had a lot of food leftover. But after we were done we weren't allowed to take leftovers home, we were told to-go containers were not available for us. Also once we exited the private dining room, we lost access to the restroom.

Yelp
You gotta love a Riverwalk location but this Mexican food is so simple I believe I could do as-good at home. We had crispy beef tacos that didn't have any taco sauce--just pico. We had shrimp tacos. The shrimp was perfectly cooked. But the single (rather the customary double corn tortillas broke down and made them hard to handle. Nice staff, good views, OK food.

Yelp
We came here for a quick lunch before a work event, and it did not disappoint! The waitstaff were very friendly and attentive, and there is a mariachi band that plays for you in front of your table, if that's the vibe you are going for. We started with some chips and salsa, guacamole, and queso for the table. The spicy salsa was pretty good and the regular salsa was very fresh. The guacamole comes with this vinaigrette on top of it, which at first, we were skeptical of, but it turned out to really enhance the flavor of the guac and was very tasty. The queso was the largest queso I've ever seen in my life, served in a soup bowl, and it was addicting! For the entree, I ordered the chili con carne, which came with refried beans and rice. The sauce was pretty good and the cheese and raw onion on top was a nice touch. This is a good spot for large parties or if you are looking for some good Tex mex on the river walk.

Yelp
This is a landmark restaurant in San Antonio Riverwalk, so we had to patio dine here (again)... This time, I had Chalupa Combo, and my husband had Chile Relleno. I think I just tried a mocktail, but can't remember the name. Despite the colorful patio with a scenic view of the bridge, the foods were mediocre. I did not like my Chalupa at all...barely ate it. Luckily, my husband really enjoyed his Chile Relleno...thought it was really good. I also thought my mocktail was mediocre...just kinda blahhh and watery? Still, thanks to the gorgeous views, it was well worth it! If based strictly on foods, I'd rate it about 2, but the views bumped it up to 3 stars!

Yelp
Great spot to eat at the Riverwalk. It's our go to whenever we are at the Riverwalk. Best bang for your buck. Although the now charge for chips and salsa.  Our meals came out fast and as good as always. We lucked out this Friday and got seated right away. It varies what time of year you go and what time of day. They didn't take our pic like the usually do this time tho. Maybe it was because it was a little bit of a slow time of day. Anyway- like I said- with all the crazy expensive places to eat at at the Riverwalk- this place is reasonably priced and has good food.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic experience. We sat along the water outside. The service was fantastic! Very polite and engaging. The food was delicious!! The portions were also very large. Will recommend this to everyone who wants an authentic Tex-Mex experience with very stiff drinks!

Yelp
If you're on the hunt for great Tex mex in San Antonio, this is not your spot. Ambiance feels like an authentic Mexican restaurant. We sat outside right on the riverwalk, which was very pretty at night. They had a mariachi band, but they were going table by table asking if you wanted a song (for a price) which I felt was tacky and the restaurant should just hire them to play as free entertainment for patrons. Service: our server was good and food came out fairly quickly. Drinks: My husband and I got frozen flavored margaritas. They were a bit small and didn't really taste any alcohol, but they were also pretty cheap ($11). Food: Food was majorly disappointing. We started with chips and queso and it was nothing to write home about. I ordered Al pastor street tacos that came with beans and rice. The Al pastor was just not flavorful, a bit dry, and could have used some other toppings / sauce. Beans and rice were ok. My husband got the el rio with a beef enchilada, chicken taquito, and tamale. The tamale was ok, but the taquito was bland, and enchilada missing something. We ordered my son the kids grilled chicken with rice and refried beans and he loved it though.

Yelp
My fam just newly moved back to SA so we had to go to The a Riverwalk , especially since our son had not remembered it. It's had become a tradition to eat at Casa Rio everytime we go there. So of course we went. Now it heads been a few years since our last time in SA, but they now charge for Chips and Salsa. The salsa is still very good. don't know if their menu got smaller? But we were able to find something different for each of us to try so no duplicate plates on our table of 3. We are seated indoors quickly, service was quite fast in general. Food was still good- the prices were very reasonable - esp for being in the tourist zone. We will continue to go here whenever family and friends come to visit and we take them to the Riverwalk! PS- extra half star for offering a military discount too- thank you!

Yelp
Let's be honest: you eat at Casa Rio partly for the food and mostly for the Riverwalk cred. And it delivers on that. We sat right on the river (people-watching included) and ordered the chicken soft tacos, which were surprisingly flavorful. The enchilada trio was pretty good, but the real stars were the hot salsa and queso--hands down the best part of the meal. That salsa should absolutely be complimentary. The chips and fresh tortillas were perfectly crisp and addictive. We washed it all down with a strawberry margarita, because Riverwalk rules. Is it the best Tex-Mex in town? Not really. Is it a classic, iconic spot with a great location and solid food? Absolutely. Worth it at least once.

Yelp
Our party of 10 was seated quickly under a bridge next to the river. I ordered the Regular plate, a combo of chili con carne, a pork tamale and cheese enchilada, along with/rice and beans. The food was meh, nothing extraordinary. I think our food had been sitting awhile in order to bring out all 10 plates at once. My cheese enchilada was solid, not melted. Our server Ricardo was nice.

Yelp
We came here for lunch over the weekend and really enjoyed our experience! Upon arriving we had a very short wait time and got a table right on the water!! Our server was very kind and was able to answer any questions we had! Overall service was prompt!! We all enjoyed our meals, and felt that the portions were very generous. All of the food arrived made to order and was super tasty! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience here! It was such a pleasant experience to have lunch right on the water. I would definitely recommend trying Casa Rio if you are in the area!!

Yelp
Small restaurant with excellent service and wonderful food. Had a late morning breakfast. Food was tasty. Great coffee.

Yelp
Every time we come to San Antonio, we have to eat at Casa Rio. This has been a part of our Christmas trip for years. Today we sat inside bc we needed a table for 11 quickly but we love outside seating best! Watching the boats go by is so fun! Margarita on the rocks hit the spot along with chili con queso. We chose the El Rio this time to try the flauta. And it was delicious! We were seated fairly quickly and our server was attentive.

Yelp
Casa Rio is the oldest restaurant on the River Walk, or that's what the boat tours kept saying as they motored by our outside table. We swung through SA and wanted to show our daughter the River Walk. Casa Rio was the restaurant we both remembered eating at with our parents, so we opted to keep the tradition going. It was a weekday and a little past lunch rush, so we had no issue immediately getting a table on the water. I've been told the wait can get lengthy at peak hours, especially during high season for tourists. FYI The food isn't exceptional but it'll scratch that itch. Most of the dishes we ordered were a little bland on seasoning, but if you're just looking for a pile of fajitas and a margarita, you should be fine. Their outside seating is dog friendly to boot. They brought out water bowls for tableside dogs which I thought was a nice touch. Service was meh. Our waiter forgot a couple things from our initial order, corrected the mistakes, but left us waiting for half our lunch after already eating the other half. He would also ask if we needed anything, we'd ask for something, then he'd disappear for 10+ minutes doing his rounds before circling back remembering what we asked for, then finally running to grab it. Just seemed like he was going through the motions and not really present. Long story short, this is not the greatest Tex-Mex/Mexican food in San Antonio, but if you're looking for a true tourist checkbox to tick off, eating at Casa Rio on the river is most likely high up on the list.

Yelp
Going to the Riverwalk in San Antonio is a very 'tourist-y' thing to do when one visits the city. So, expect to see plenty of tourists. However, a lot of locals are there, too. I think the difference is the locals know what to expect because we've experienced the disappointment of Riverwalk dining before. I'm traveling on business and Wonder Wife decided to come spend the weekend with me, which is a lot like having an angel appear in your presence. She'd never been to the Riverwalk, so that was an obvious choice. When it comes to dining on the river, there are basically two choices - mediocre food one can afford, or pretty good food one can't. The nice thing about Casa Rio is there's a ton of seating, and we got to sit next to the water without a wait (at about 7PM). We tossed chips to the ducks and got our picture taken by wandering photographer who gave us a so-so free print and sold us a couple of higher quality/larger prints. Again, typical tourist thing, but we enjoyed it. The bad thing about Casa Rio is the food. The chips were surprisingly good and the salsa is not bad, either (but, they're not complimentary). But, you can make MUCH better queso at home using Velveeta and Ro-tel, so skip it here. The tamale was thick and dry, the enchilada was barely warm and the rice/beans were forgettable. The taco meat was good, but the shell was too thick and not very crunchy. The guacamole was okay, but if you want guac, go up to street level, cross over and hit Chipotle. It's far superior. If you want a nice time enjoying the ambiance of the river, then this is not a bad place to hang out. Maybe just have some margaritas (I don't know if they're any good; we both had iced tea) and kick back. I'd eat somewhere else, though. One great thing about Casa Rio is the price point. It was very inexpensive. Having said that, I'd have gladly paid more for better food.

Yelp
Came to Casa Rio on the recommendation of my girl's brother, who came here in the past. It's pretty easy to spot on the river walk and there's just a ton of seating. Even with that, you may still need to wait 20 or so mins, but at least they'll text you when the table is ready. We opted for the outdoor seating instead of indoors, which is definitely the preferred choice if you can. Casa Rio is a long time staple of San Antonio and I think I can get why that is. The food is fairly solid. Not the best, but also not the absolute worst. With that said, one oddity is knowing that chips and salsa did not come free of charge. That was weird. Even when we got them, they were kinda okay. Wasn't anything special, but it's chips & salsa. There are a few vegetarian options here. I ordered one of the few... the veggie enchiladas. I opted for the plate and it was a generous portion. It looks like the enchilada was made with a little bit of Santa Anna sauce.... I wish there was an option for verde. I also think it's a bit too cheesy, but I'm also being picky. I got the spicy margarita, which was a good choice to wash out the food. I don't think this is the best option in town, but it can be a decent one to satisfy any immediate cravings. It's also a slight tourist trap, but unavoidable too.

Yelp
Came for dinner to meet a friend and as they were from out of town, they wanted some tex mex in the Riverwalk and choose this place. We ordered the chips with queso/guac/salsa, beef and chicken "fajita" and some other dishes. The queso/guac/salsa was pretty good, large portions and good price, especially for being on the riverwalk. But the fajitas were hands down the worst I've ever had. The menu says it comes sizzling, yet it came on a plate and not even hot. Lettuce/pico/guac/cream portions were tiny and the tortillas tasted store bought. The beef was tough and chicken cold. The server was friendly and attentive, and location on the Riverwalk is great, but the food was a major disappointment for us.

Yelp
Wonderful lunch on the beautiful San Antonio Riverwalk with my daughter. We started with the Street Corn, which is served as an appetizer which comes with tortilla chips. Putting a spoon full of the corn onto the chip made for a delicious bite. The seasonings, cheese, fresh herbs, and jalapeños mixed with the roasted corn was full of flavors and textures that simply worked well together. Highly recommend! For entrees, my daughter got the chicken flautas plate and I got the Rio plate which came with a chicken flauta, a beef enchilada and a pork tamale. The tamale was the top item on my plate- the flavor of the masa was unlike any I've had anywhere else- absolutely delicious and perfectly complimented the well seasoned pork filling. I could have eaten a whole dozen of them myself. The beef enchilada was very good- the beef filling had a very good flavor and the sauce and perfectly melted cheese made for a damn tasty enchilada. Finally the flautas...while they were not bad, they did not meet the same level of flavoring as the fillings of the enchilada and the tamale, the flavor was slightly bland and a little on the dry side. Of course, the obligatory rice and beans were good and are always a solid compliment to Mexican fare.

Yelp
This was the oldest restaurant at the riverwalk. Amazing outside seating area by the riverwalk and a waitlist suggested we chose right. The service was pretty quick as well, as there was a regular trickling of customers in and out as you would expect in a tourist hot spot. But the food was so underwhelming that it left us very disappointed. My fajitas were cold and bland and so were the other food items we ordered (El Rio, Al pastor). I would not recommend this place for food, but only if you want to just sit by the riverwalk for a drink or two as its ambiance is pretty lit.
google avatar

Rilie F.

Yelp
I was so excited to try this restaurant, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. Apparently it is the oldest standing restaurant in the riverwalk which makes it quite unique. Very good, affordable Tex Mex. My whole bill with appetizer, drink, entree, and tip was barely $30. And to top it off- I have leftovers of everything to take back to the room. I'm beyond impressed with this place, and I will be sure to tell all of my coworkers about it.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here for dinner with our high school marching band. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location is clean and spacious. The food was good. The location is right on the river walk and easy to get to.

Yelp
Thanks to Casa Rio, had an amazing birthday dinner on the River Walk. There was a long wait-time so we gave the name and went for a walk along the river walk. This restaurant seems to have a lot of history, probably one of the oldest restaurants in the River walk. Loved the menu variety, ambiance and inclusivity with vegetarian dishes. My order: Street corn 5/5 Mango margarita 5/5 Veggie enchilada 4/5 Chips and Guacamole 5/5 Started off with the street corn and it was an amalgam of spices with fresh corn with a hint of lime, loved it. Followed by a nice creamy guacamole, I wish they did a live guac counter. The enchiladas were great and not too soggy tortillas. Loved the tacos and enchiladas. The margarita was good quality as well. Perfect birthday!

Yelp
Lovely riverside restaurant with delicious Mexican food. There are people that come by and take your picture with a camera and print it out for you, making it a memorable place to eat! It's more lively sitting outside but the inside is nice and a little quieter too. The service was nice and accommodating. I got the enchiladas and they were so great!! It also made a wonderful first date spot :)

Yelp
Service & ambiance was lovely. Great place to have a beer on the river walk. The food I'm sorry to say was not good.
google avatar

Suki B.

Yelp
I had a great time here! I was a little skeptical because of the plentiful, mid reviews but I am glad I gave it a chance! Every server was nice and wore traditional Mexican clothing to enhance the Mexican culture vibes the restaurant brought! This place is known for their enchiladas, and my friends ate that up. I wasn't craving that, so I got the chicken quesadillas. Gosh, everything was delicious and piping hot. My quesadillas had beautiful cheese pulls. The portions are incredibly generous for every dish, and I had to get a to go box. Amazing. Would definitely come back next time I go to San Antonio.

Geoffrey M.

Yelp
We had an excellent dinner on New Year's Eve seated right on the river. The food was perfect and the margaritas were delicious. The view can't be beat!
google avatar

Timothy B.

Yelp
Quick service volume Mexican. Decent food and a for the price. I had chops with salsa guacamole and cheese sauce, street tacos al pastor (marinated pork) with beans and rice. The tacos were good but small. The beans were ok and the rice was very plain.
google avatar

Victor M.

Yelp
Had to try the first restaurant by the river, food was ok and so was service. Had enough chicken but I think more onions and peppers would have been to what I am used to in other restaurants but but but in San Anton by the river I will take it just fine, location makes a difference
google avatar

Rob B.

Yelp
Our group ate here twice during our visit to San Antonio. The food was good and prices very reasonable for the location. On both occasions we were seated at tables right next to the river's edge providing great atmosphere and making for a very pleasant experience overall. Our time was made even more enjoyable by consistently good service as well!
google avatar

Lily S.

Yelp
It's by the river walk, almost like a must-visit touristy spot. But other than that, the food is so meh. The whole experience can be compared to Colorado's Casa Bonita. I'd say, go anywhere in San Antonio for better tacos (preferably one of those open 24-hrs joints) and just come WALK the riverwalk!
google avatar

Danny N.

Yelp
I grabbed a bite to eat here while visiting in the area. The server was extremely friendly and tentative. I liked that they had seating right by the riverwalk. It definitely made for a cozy evening by the water. I decided to order the cheese enchilada plate. Everything was flavorful and delicious! Plus the prices were great!

Keith C.

Yelp
The food was absolutely terrible! My girlfriend and I both got sick an hour or so after we ate. My girlfriend got the Flauta plate and the Fauta's were way over cooked! I got the Chili Con Carne and it was very bland! We also had to pay for the CHIPS AND SALSA!! What credible Mexican restaurant makes you pay for chips and salsa?! They also gave our seat away which we waited 40 min for! They told us we took too long to get to the front kiosk! Never mind the hostess were both on their phone and talking to each other for several minuets before looking up and waiting on us! Sooo terrible food + terrible service = a restaurant you should absolutely avoid!
google avatar

Rob K.

Yelp
My wife and I needed a little something to get us to dinner so we stopped at Casa Rio. I had the Chili Con Carne (small), and my wife had a small chicken meal. I also ordered the chips and salsa. Our waiter was average at best. Our chips arrived after our food (and we had to ask for it). My chili was pretty good, my wife enjoyed her food. There is definitely room for improvement with service. Food was still decent and I'd stop again if I was in San Antonio.
google avatar

Barbara P.

Yelp
So we've been here a few times in the past, I'd say anytime we come up to San Antonio. This day in particular I'm not sure who was in the kitchen but all plates were bad except the shrimp ceviche which thankfully I had but truly dont think a martini glass of shrimp is enough for $15.99. My mom had the beef tacos and I dont understand how you mess up tacos! I will say the best part was the skinny margarita, worth it! Also, they now charge for chips and salsa!!! In Texas most Mexican places if not all....this is standard aka free but not here.

Steve K.

Yelp
First time and fun time! Great place to feed the ducks and to feed my hungry self. Can't wait to come back
google avatar

Steve O.

Yelp
If your down at the River walk in San Antonio Tx and your craving Mexican food, this is the place to go. Casa Rio's food was excellent. Started off with chips and salsa and then had a combination plate of a tamale, enchilada and taquito. Came with rice and beans. Wife had a chile relleno that was also delicious. Sat right next to the river under an umbrella. Service was also excellent.
google avatar

Steven V.

Yelp
Blandest Mexican food I have ever eaten... the history of the restaurant is amazing and if you want to experience it once then do it ONLY if you can sit outside. The ambience ALMOST makes up for the food, the so-so service and the cost... ALMOST.
google avatar

Christina M.

Yelp
The waitress was nice and fast. Came to check on us too, even gave me some big napkins so I can sit on them since I didn't want to sit where all the birds were lol the view was nice but the birds wow they run the place lol I had to shoooo shoooo them away and locals laughed at me lol the food was Tex mex and well I'm From San Diego so it was very different but fresh and warm. No salsa and chips free like I'm used to but it was okay. Service wins here, next time I'll sit inside hehe ooh and it as so cheap too! We are and were full. It was cheaper than a drive thru. My hubby got sombrero meal and it was okay.

Yelp
Excellent Mexican restaurant right on the San Antonio Riverwalk. Sit at one of the Riverside tables and watch the river cruises go by and do some people watching on all of the folks walking around the Riverwalk. The staff is super friendly and super efficient. The guacamole appetizer is delicious And the enchilada trio is not to be missed. The kitchen is beyond efficient and our food came out incredibly fast. They have a variety of margaritas, the raspberry being my favorite. The birds outside that are begging and trying to swoop down to take food off of your plate can be annoying And if you don't like a bunch of people walking around your table while you're eating, then the outdoor space will not appeal to you. That being said, you really should enjoy the vibe, have the mariachi band sing for you, have a drink, and watch the world go by

Martin H.

Yelp
Definitely good food, service and atmosphere. Dining outside during Christmas is so much fun.

Yelp
I chose this resturant since it's been around for a very long time ni believe it's known for the colorful umbrellas on the riverwalk. First, I've NEVER been to a Mexican resturant where I have to pay for chips and salsa. It's pretty much a given. The chips tasted like bagged chips I'd buy at the grocery store. The salsa didn't taste fresh. More like jar salsa in my opinion. I ordered the taco salad with shrimp. I asked for the shrimp to be well cooked. It wasn't. The lettuce was stuff so tightly in the taco shell that it was hard to get out. It had a dollop of guacamole that looked and tasted like the premade ones I see at the store. It did not taste fresh to me. It also had a large pinch of cheddar cheese that tasted like it came from a bag. Overall nothing tasted like authentic Mexican food to me. The dressing in a plastic take away container totally cheapens all of it. The server was ok. He didn't smile at all u less he was talking to all the other employees just standing around. This place was a one and done for me. This is all my opinion.

Yelp
Great freshly made Tex-Mex food. After several bad experiences on the riverwalk, we were so happy to find this restaurant. Highly recommended.

Yelp
We went on a Wednesday night at the Riverwalk and it was amazing. We even had a mariachi band play for us while at dinner which was super cool. There were a lot of people out here and this is definitely somewhere. I can't wait to get back to oh yeah, and the food was amazing along with the drink drinks!

Yelp
Located at the riverwalk it's decent place for lunch and family friendly. We had chips and salsa and the street corn as starters, the street corn was particularly good and I especially liked the chips that come with it. For main dish I had the fajitas with beef the meet was good and soft and the portion was filling. The enchiladas trio and deluxe dinner were also good. Great service.

Yelp
The service was delightful, thanks to Destiny, my wonderful server, who genuinely made the experience memorable. I had a late quick lunch, and the chile relleno was very tasty. The chips and fresh salsa were good too. Good river walk seating - I could have done without all the pigeons, but overall it was a great experience. Thanks again, Destiny, for your kindness and excellent service!

Yelp
If you've been do the riverwalk before, you've undoubtedly seen Casa Rio, either by foot or from the viewpoint of one of the Go Rio river boats. We had yet to visit so opted to stop in on the first night of our trip. Nice thing about Casa Rio is that you can tell this place is adept at turning tables. Seating, service, and food all moved pretty quickly, not a bad thing for the ever-busy riverwalk. Since it was July in Texas we opted to sit inside (no wait) as there was a bit of a wait to sit outside. What you'll get at Casa Rio is a menu similar to probably your local-neighborhood tex-mex. Don't think it will win any awards, but you'll still leave satisfied with a fully belly as was the case with my Chalupa combo. I was greeted with two chalupas that were piled high with veggies and cheese and the family enjoyed their food as well. So I'd say Casa Rio is worth a stop, if nothing else to get some solid tex-mex and visit this riverwalk staple, the first restaurant on the riverwalk, and still family owned (as well as those Rio boats) after all these years.

Yelp
Tourist trap area. The scene was spectacular, the food was just meh. Order the El Rio and found the food mostly taste like every other Mexican restaurant that I've been to.
