Gitane

I went in with medium-to-high expectations and left with mixed feelings. The menu’s strongest point is that it’s clearly designed for sharing and tasting different dishes, which is always a plus. There were some interesting ideas, but to be honest only a few dishes really stood out. The tartare was definitely the highlight of the meal — well executed, balanced, and genuinely memorable. On the other hand, the Orzo “Kakkavia” didn’t quite work for us; it may come down to personal taste, but at our table it felt underwhelming and didn’t live up to what the description promised. The atmosphere is very nice, well thought out and comfortable, whether you’re there with friends or as a couple. Prices are fair, not expensive for what’s being offered and in line with the overall concept. Overall, a place with good ideas, a few real wins, and some dishes that fall a bit short. Worth trying, especially for the ambiance and a couple of standout plates — though there’s still room to surprise more on the food side.

The steak was to die for, it was so juicy and melts in your mouth. The mackerel dish was a bit too tour in my opinion and not sure if it complimented the fish too well and the bread was also not warm which would have been nice. The staff was very attentive, great service! Would come back here for the steak for sure.

The interiors of this place were very tastefully done. It was very cozy and nice. The service was very good, but a few dishes were disappointing. The starters and the bread were very delicious, but the main course and the dessert were bad. I ordered aubergine, and it was not well cooked. I couldn't eat it as it was very tough inside. The pumpkin dessert was weird because it had some weird-tasting, bland, cooked pumpkin inside (at the bottom). We were not sure if something went bad or if it was a bad dessert. They had a good collection of natural wines, which were sold by the glass as well.

Gitane is in the Michelin Guide for a reason – it has good food and a proper wine list. You can also enjoy a wide selection of tap beers and cocktails; non-alcoholic options are there as well. It’s a great place for meeting friends, but for some other purposes I find it too loud – too many tables are packed into the space, which makes staying there for long uncomfortable. The tostada is my favourite among the starters, the duck was a good option from the mains, and the steak tartare has a crunchy texture, which is nice, but the meat is cut into pieces that are a bit too small. Definitely book in advance – it doesn’t look like a place for walk-ins in the evening. The dish sizes are not big, which is justified by the sharing concept.

We ordered nearly the full menu at Gitane, and it was a truly beautiful experience from beginning to end. Every dish felt seasonal and perfectly balanced. A special thank you to Puk, who took such wonderful care of us. Exceptional food paired with thoughtful service. Gitane is a place we will happily return to in the future ☺️

I was a bit worried due to some mixed reviews but we had a terrific New Years eve dinner at Gitane. The Cote de boeuf was a 10/10 and the rest of the dishes like takoyaki, tostada, burrata were all good. I found the steak tartare a bit bland but the meat was very fresh. Overall a great dinner, will be coming back Only feedback is that the order in which the dishes came in was a bit odd since we received mains before starters and sides after we were done with the mains etc

Chanced upon this lovely eatery which is Michelin recommended. Dropped in for a snack and a drink at around 3.30pm. We ordered the Shellfish which came is a delivery delicious gravy. The hummus was the best I've ever had.

My second time here and I have enjoyed both times. Every dish was delicious and perfect for sharing, we have tried a bit of everything I feel like. The vibe is nice and the lady who was serving us was very sweet. Food came out fast too. The only thing I don’t like at places like this: small wine glasses. But overall it’s a great spot.
