Under Canvas Adds Glamping Cabins to New Outdoor Collection - AFAR

"Located roughly six miles from the entrance to Yellowstone National Park in a sprawling 200-acre valley near the South Fork of the Madison River, this seasonal ranch (open May 8–Oct 6) offers a mix of seven cowboy-inspired lodge rooms and eight private one- to four-bedroom log cabins, all with en suite bathrooms. Guests can pursue on-site outdoor activities such as horseback riding, hiking, rafting, and fly-fishing. The on-site restaurant focuses on locally sourced ingredients with a Western flair—menu examples range from sunflower hummus to an elk and bison Bolognese—and evenings include complimentary s’mores around the fire. The property follows a light-footprint development philosophy and aims to foster appreciation and protection of the surrounding environment; rates at launch begin around $296." - Bailey Berg

The large 4 bedroom cabin exceeded expectations. Food at the restaurant was the best we had locally. Really enjoyed the fire pit. Definitely recommend considering this location as a base for your Yellowstone adventure.

We had an amazing stay at Bar-N-Ranch! From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive. The room was spotless and very comfortable, with all the amenities we needed for a relaxing visit. The location was perfect — close to key attractions and easy to get around. Overall, a fantastic experience that we would definitely recommend and look forward to repeating!

We recently stayed here for our Yellowstone trip and this place was amazing. We stayed in one of the lodge rooms. All of the staff here were beyond amazing. They offer special amenities like s’mores kits, fresh baked cookies, coffee and more. They have some great onsite activities that guests can do like corn hole, roping, take a walk on the property, games, etc. They also have a heated pool. There is a restaurant on site, but we did not dine there. They are about a 5 minute drive from town. Our lodge room had a jetted tub and a porch with a view. I cannot say enough good things about our stay. Check out our fury little friend who came to visit one evening while we were watching the sunset. They offer various types of lodging from cabins, to luxury tents and lodge rooms. They also have bear spray you can borrow.

We were visiting Yellowstone in late May and we had a blast there. We loved the location and amazing views from our cabin. The cabin itself was very dated but clean. The only surprise was that we had bats leaving in our cabin’s attic which would be very lovely if they weren’t such noisy animals. They squeak and move a lot and in the middle of the night. The staff was very defensive about it telling me we are in the wild so that’s normal (this is $500 cabin not a tent though, right?) and they asked me if I am willing to pay more for bigger cabin if they have one available (well no, I paid for this one already) and at the end they sent me a message offering a white noice machine. I don’t think the management handled it right by us but the Yellowstone was so beautiful and we only had two more nights to stay there so we decided we won’t ruin our vacation because of that situation and we enjoyed the rest of the stay. Would I stay there again? No! But now I tell everyone the storie of the bats in the cabin! Also bats are protected until the end of September so I'm sure they are still in cabin 8 if you want to have your own bat story to tell :)

We loved the Bar N Ranch! The location is perfect—wake up to stunning sunrises, wildlife sightings, and mountain views every morning. The staff went above and beyond to help with anything we asked. Such a beautiful place!

Google
The hotel is definitely in the shoulder season. Communication was terrific before we arrived. We were told there would be bfast, cocktails, and soups throughout our stay. Driving up, we called to ask a few questions and were told there would be no food at all. We pivoted and went to the restaurant they recommended which was amazing! When we arrived, there was a fire and wine as well as hot tea so assumed that would be the case the following night. Not so. On arriving the next evening, no water, no tea, no wine, no staff. Again, if this had been communicated, we could have pivoted. To top it off, the rooms were incredibly hot, hot air blowing out of the radiators. We were told the heat was off which was not the case. We texted the number they left and never received a response. Did not feel like guests but rather like we were a hassle. It was all too bad for the price. The view was incredible. I had hoped the service would be as well. As an addition, I did reach out to the General Manager and he quickly responded to my concerns as well as offering compensation for the sub par service. He took full responsibility and was kind in his response. With that type of leadership, I believe these sort of incidents will be few and far between in the future. Thank you!!

Yelp
So this was a bummer. We had really high expectations for this dinner. The cocktails and tractor soda were really good! The Montana toast was not great. The grain bowl, trout, beef tacos and burger were good. The charred broccoli which I ordered with the trout was mushy and surprisingly terrible. I hope they continue to refine the menu since this place has a ton of potential. The place is fun with a rock mountain full of taxidermy animals in the center. We were staying at under canvas next door so it really is your only option.

Yelp
Cool cabin vibe. Be it a big cabin. It was nice to have a place close to the campground. The drinks were great, maybe it was the altitude change for me, I dunno, I don't care. They were good. The food was good too however I thought it was a bit pricy. $19 for a burger? It wasn't really that big of a burger either. After staying a week I know see that $19 is about the normal asking price in that area however the burger was not as good as others for that price. I would have liked a little bit more in a burger especially since everything else was so good. The apps were great too. When staying in under canvas your options are limited, this menu is a little pricy and maybe fancy but the next place is a 15 min drive.

Yelp
Shout out to SK at the bar for being phenomenal! Their service is out of this world. You would think you were talking to a friend. The atmosphere is so pretty! The taxidermy is tasteful and very in the theme. The menu is so beautiful. No I didn't have time to eat inside. I took a Caesar salad with grilled chicken to go. The Caesar salad has lemon and sun-dried tomatoes. The flavor of this Caesar salad Hass to be some of the best that I've ever had. I cannot wait to go back! What a great restaurant to have on property, the Bar N Ranch and Under Canvas

Yelp
It doesn't seem to be listed clearly here, but Bar N Ranch is BOTH a restaurant and a lodge with cabins you can stay in! My family recently experienced both and I highly recommend both to anyone visiting Montana or traveling to see Yellowstone National Park. We stayed in a cabin for a week and enjoyed breakfasts and dinners many days at the restaurant. In regard to the restaurant, both breakfast and dinner served up delicious food with a good variety of options and local fare. My family particularly enjoyed their bolognese, salads, and burgers -- and we tried basically all of their appetizers and desserts at some point which were all beautiful and delicious! I landed on one particular dinner cocktail (setting up camp) because it was just that good, and they have mimosas available at breakfast time. The ambiance is beautiful, comfortable and has an upscale rustic lodge feel! In regard to the lodge and cabins, we had such a wonderful experience of these spaces! The accommodations were wonderful, and the GM and employees were absolutely lovely and helpful people! There are so many little details they attend to: 1. a quality complimentary beverage station available throughout the day with ice water, cider, hot cocoa, coffee and teas 2. Recommendations and help with setting up local outings like fly fishing, water rafting, horseback riding, etc. 3. Complimentary s'mores that you can roast at any of their many fire pits that they light every evening on property. The location is also perfect, just outside of the West Gate of Yellowstone and a day trip away from places like Jackson Hole, WY! Another plus is that they have rooms and cabins of different sizes, so very easy to find accommodations that fit for your family or travel group! We are excited to return to Bar N Ranch again in the future and I highly recommend it to anyone else below are just a few of the beautiful sights of the space!

Yelp
Rented the 4 bedroom 2 bath cabin and only one bathroom had hot water . We mentioned it to the front desk and they did nothing to fix it or even credit us . The place was beautiful and clean but staff does not care about customer service.

Yelp
We had greatly enjoyed a meal here on prior visits to West Yellowstone, but the pandemic seems to have "done a number" on this place. On this most recent visit, we couldn't even tell whether the restaurant was still open to the public. Their "we are closed" voice mail still dates from the spring of 2020 (18 months ago) and our messages were never returned. The online presence is equally confusing. We saw that there were some recent Yelp reviews for the restaurant, but a drive into the property looked like things were completely shut down. It was further confusing that the reviews for the accommodations were mixed with the reviews for the restaurant. If they ever return to normal, perhaps that will get fixed. Bottom line -- I don't trust a place that doesn't update their information because it implies they're not serious about business. If they're sloppy about basic communication, what else are they sloppy about? Probably best to skip this place entirely until they clearly get their act together (if they ever do).

Yelp
Ate here while staying at under canvas. The staff was amazing and attentive and the food pretty good!

Yelp
The descriptions on the menu match the price of the food but the quality of the food does not. It reads better than it actually is. The food is fine but *just* fine. The drinks were really good. Ambiance is good with rustic wood, log cabin style decor and great scenic views. Service was pretty good but kitchen is a bit slow.

Yelp
Very nice location. The biggest disappointment was that the online menu fake. They don't have BISON SHORT RIBS as they show. Since it's a little outside of West Yellowstone, it's disappointing when you drive over there and they don't even have it and this menu doesn't even exist. The rest of the food was average.

Yelp
The food is decent for the price but I'm going to talk about the way the food is served and the use of metal trays and what they consider to be environmentally friendly. I'm considering all the restrictions due to Covid-19 so I'm not going to get into details. All the food is served on a metal tray lined with brown paper. This makes no sense, especially when you're trying to cut up meat. The brown paper soaks into the food and even sticks to the food when you're scooping it up to eat. If you're not paying attention, you'll be eating the brown paper as well. Secondly, they use 100% recycled utensils and cups and make known they're proud to do so to help the environment. But, when asked if they recycle the recycled items, which are 100% recyclable, they said no. Try cutting up Elk using a plastic knife. It ain't easy! Food is good. Just don't get caught up in their environmentally friendly marketing.

Yelp
Not pet friendly. We stayed at Under Canvas for few nights, and this restaurant is the shared restaurant with another camp (koa). Under Canvas don't allow food in their tents, so basically you need to eat outside. We had our dog with us, and this restaurant don't allow pets inside, and has no good outdoor sitting. If you have pets with you, you will have to pick up food here, and eat at Under Canvas lobby and common areas. Not a very nice experience for us. Totally don't recommend this restaurant if you happen to bring pets with you visiting Under Canvas. Your dining options are limited.

Yelp
Apparently not open to the public. My husband called to make a reservation July 26, 2023. They told him they were only open to guest that were staying with them.

Yelp
We came here for dinner because we were staying in under the canvas. The restaurant looked super cool because of all the mounted animals inside. It wasn't busy but there's couple people waiting in front of us. The hosts asked us if we had reservation when we approached. We didn't have reservation but the host went ahead to arrange the table for us. We sat on the big table next to the bar and had a nice view of the outside. Our waiter was a guy whose name I didn't remember. He's gotten another server behind him. I think he's showing that person how to take orders or what not. He's nice when he took out drink orders. However, he was kinda rude when he took our food orders. First, he insisted we order in clockwise direction. Maybe that's easier for him to keep track but it didn't come out of his mouth nicely. Second, my sister asked him if the kale salad come uncooked or sauteed. He's like dud it's a salad. I am sure I have had sauteed kale salad in other restaurant! In fact, I think sauteed kale salad tastes better. She ended up getting the beet salad. Anyway, the bison burger was ok. It tasted just like beef though. The pork chop ($29) was very tender. It's highlight of the night. The elk tenderloin ($39) was good. Food was good overall. Waiter could be nicer though. The second time I was there for the $14 breakfast buffet. It's consisted of scramble eggs, pancakes, sausages, bacon, potatoes, milk, apple juice and such. The waitress we got was very nice this time. We got there around 10 but food was running out. I could only get some pancakes on my first round. I saw the chef coming out refilling the pancakes but he's also surprised that food ran out so fast. I saw some people taking Togo box of food. I am not sure how that work since it's buffet style. But that's definitely part of the reason why food run out quickly. We waited for a while but I didn't get to eat scramble eggs. We sat near the front door while food were served on the other side. So food ran out before I walked to the food station. Anyway, pancakes were very good.

Yelp
While staying at the Bar N Ranch, I decided to try the restaurant. It was slated to be a fine dining establishment where reservations would be necessary. When I arrived, it was so early that there weren't many people dining there. I sat at the bar and ordered Sparkling Rosé. The bartender was outstanding with great recommendations. For an appetizer, I tried the mushroom au gratin. The mushrooms were cooked well, and were delicious with the fresh bread. For dinner, I had the salmon that was on top of a beet purée and hummus purée. It was delicious! Because I was on vacation, I then had dessert. I tried the strawberry toaster pastries. They were very disappointing. The presentation was gorgeous, but frozen strawberries were used so it made the puff pastry soggy, and some of the berries were still cold. Overall, I would say the food was good. I wouldn't say it ranks with some of the other places that I visited while in that area. I was disappointed also that it seemed some employees were stressed out and annoyed when there weren't many customers in the place! The other shocker was that "steak-frites" was not available on a Friday night! I understand running out of things being far out, but it seems that a main dish like that should always be available! I have to go 3 stars, though the bartender would get 5!!

Yelp
We had arrived with a party of 4 for breakfast at 0910. Apparently breakfast service was closed despite two parties being seated before us as we arrived. We stayed at Under Canvas for a few nights in anticipation of having breakfast this restaurant on our last morning. Seems to be the typical, unapologetically lazy service from past reviews. Highly encourage management to step it up. There are better breakfast restaurants nearby.

Yelp
The atmosphere was absolutely amazing, the road to get back to the restaurant leads you through the cow pasture which was awesomely unique. The service was good, our waitress was very friendly and shared with us her experiences in the area and at the ranch. The menu was a bit small but my meal was great. I had one of their burgers, my wife had a salad, and we had 3 kids chicken breast meals along with an appetizer(Montana toast) and two drinks from the bar. The bill was $160-170 so after tip it was around $200 which was a little steep for the dinner alone but once you consider the experience, atmosphere, the views, it was worth it.

Yelp
Food was great, drinks were delicious, and customer service on point! We stayed at the Under Canvas right next to them, so we figured we'd give them a shot and was not disappointed.

Yelp
This place was amazing. Our favorite hidden gem 1/4-1/2 mile off the highway tucked in a farm. Everything was fantastic, very friendly staff, great food. I got the rack of elk and my fiancé got the bison burger. We also had roasted balsamic and honey Brussel sprouts and goat cheese with honey to die for. They also will give you free smores for desert to bring outside to the cozy fire pits they have outside. You have to try this place! If we ever go back to Yellowstone we will be returning to eat and hopefully stay at the Under Canvas luxury tent experience.

Yelp
It was basically a fail upon first greeting. The only positive was the ambiance and skyline views. Our server, although very sweet, didn't have a clue. Never checked on us once food was dropped. We each took two bites of our food and pushed it to the end of the table. My husbands bison burger tasted like the McRib from McDonalds in the 90s. The short ribs (which stated they came with polenta) came with a chunky mashed potato. The meat was chewy, fatty, and under seasoned. The Brussels app tasted of pure vinegar and they didn't even have the decency to trim the stems. Our server, after viewing the uneaten food after 30 minutes, took our credit card and thanked us. We paid and left. Don't waist your time or money.

Yelp
I had a large party of 12 and we stayed the big 4-bedroom cabin (I think cabin 16? Not sure of the number). We were celebrating my daughter's birthday and visiting Yellowstone Nat'l Park in the daytime. The accommodations here were wonderful. Comfortable beds, clean, a full kitchen, and everything else you'd want from a cabin. Ours even had a jacuzzi outside which was a nice way to end a day. The service from the hotel staff was excellent and attentive to our needs. The restaurant was a short 2 min walk from the cabin and the food was delicious and they had a nice beer/wine selection. We ate outside and had the most gorgeous views of the surrounding landscape. I give Bar N Ranch the highest of recommendations. You won't find better accommodations this close to Yellowstone. 5+ stars. I'd give more if I could.
google avatar

Yelp
We ate here two nights in a row during our stay at Under Canvas. It definitely has more of a ski lodge dining room feel on the inside but the food is great. All of our meals were high quality and well seasoned. I had trout the first night with melon salad and bison burger the second night w ratatouille appetizer. Both meals were great. For now, you order at the hostess desk and then the food is brought to your tables. Each diner gets their own tray and plastic utensils. Water is self serve.

Yelp
We got lucky and found this place a night before we needed it. They were having a Labor Day sale and got 25% off the rate. We got cabin 12 which has two bedroom and one bathroom. The bathroom has a jetted tube/shower. It could be an issue for elderly people to use as there is no grab bars and a large step over. We travel with one so my 84 year old father didn't have an issue. I also wouldn't want to use the jet tub as it didn't seem clean enough to use. For a shower it seemed ok. The beds were very comfortable. The cabin had a small refrigerator, microwave and a fire place. There is only an Apple TV but we had issues getting it to work. We used our computer to watch Netflix. We couldn't get the WiFi to work in our cabin and used our own hot spot to get WiFi. The rate included breakfast and it was a buffet. It was fine breakfast. They had this oatmeal huckleberry bake thing that was good and everyone in our group enjoyed that. The main lodge had a large great room and coffee/tea 24/7. The cabin also had a small deck and patio. On the patio there was a grill. We got to the place post 8pm and check out is at 10am so we didn't have a ton of time to enjoy anything. It was basically a place to rest. The pool and hot tub are open until 10pm. It also has a resort of canvas tents to use. I think they use the land and are a different company but difficult to say. The people using the tents to use the same breakfast buffet. Why only four stars? Our feet. They were black post walking about the cabin without shoes. Gross! I think they need to do a deep clean to the floors. Again it was a fine place to stay for one night and we were grateful to find it as it was Labor Day weekend. Total cost for one night in cabin 12 was $340. Which is more than I would want to pay on a normal day. That is with the discount. However, as I have said we were in a pinch. Staff was to the point but did give us a tour of our cabin. Staff in the morning was a bit more friendly but only kept the stations full of food vs. interact with the guest.

Yelp
I had the prime rib and it was good. The potatoes and carrots were underdone. I left off another star for bad service. I can get over that I have to come up front to place my order, but then the waitress never asked for refills or if anything was needed. You also have to wait to be seated, unless you're a local then you just sit down and take the last table ahead of the other families that were waiting.

Yelp
The location is beautiful, but there is one fatal flaw. The cabins are "rustic" as one would expect and the river is beautiful, however we stayed in cabin 9 and it is INFESTED with bugs in the bedroom. They say they are "bird and bat" bugs, but they look exactly like bed bugs. We left early due to finding one filled with OUR blood on a pillow after sleeping in and tons of dead ones behind the bed. I was covered in about 9 areas of clustered bites. There was also a smear of old blood on the mattress cover. The management is fully aware of this problem, yet continues to rent the cabins to unsuspecting tourists. Apparently they come from the swallows that build mud nests on the sides of the cabins. The manager offered to "comp" the night we didn't stay but said nothing about making it right for renting us a cabin for which we paid $400 for the night we did stay. Of course we wouldn't have to pay for a night we didn't stay after being fed on by bugs in our bed. It's unbelievable the lack of customer service. It's like they have just accepted that the cabins are infested and refuse to do the eighth thing by taking them put of service until it is fixed. Unacceptable and negligent! I'll be pursuing getting a refund. Also, although the ranch area is nice, on the way out we saw a village of trailer homes very close to the ranch which just added to the terrible experience.

Yelp
Bar N Ranch is a lucky find for any road-weary traveler fresh out of a day of hiking at Yellowstone. Located a 10 minute drive west of West Yellowstone, Bar and Ranch is associated with a nearby lodge and ranch, complete with horses, cattle, and spectacular views of the surrounding mountainside and forest. Any visitor will be first struck by the spectacular ambiance of the place, complete with a collection of taxidermied animals, fireplaces, wine cellar, and grand pine tables and chairs. The perimeter of the restaurant is lined with windows so you can take in the landscape. Ambiance: 5/5 A mild criticism of the service. While the hostess was friendly and the food prompt to arrive (5 minutes for appetizers and 15 more for steak) the waitress was a bit harried and seemed overworked. Service: 4/5 The appetizer on my visit, a roasted red pepper soup made with Gouda cheese was the highlight of the visit. It was paired with an asiago cheese bread and butter that further complemented it. Appetizers: 5/5 As a steakhouse, I finished my meal with a 10oz NY Strip with blue cheese topping. The steak was juicy and tender, but not particularly phenomenal. Good, but not the exceptional quality I'd hope for for a steakhouse. The $33 price tag for all of the above is reasonable, however, and is a welcome relief for the city-dwelling steak lover. Steak: 4/5 Value: 5/5 Overall, Bar N Ranch shines for its ambiance, appetizers, and otherwise quality fare for the tourist town that is West Yellowstone. Excellent for families, I recommend it. Overall: 4.5/5

Yelp
We spent 4 nights in west Yellowstone, and ate on 4 places. This is by far the best. 6 miles away from town, but the food is outstanding, and the atmosphere is great. Don't waste your time on other places...
google avatar

Yelp
Food was excellent, service friendly and the view amazing. We came here after a day at Yellowstone after finding all the decent rated places in West Yellowstone being overcrowded and with long wait times. This place was very relaxed. A little bit on the pricy side but the quality justifies that.

Yelp
Stayed at Under Canvas for 4 nights and ate dinner at Bar N Ranch each night. A great range from bison to trout to veggies. The food was fantastic and fresh every time we ate there. And the tables were placed well enough to keep social distancing 6+ apart. The meals were hefty and wholesome and I would absolutely come back again. The one thing I would do to up the menu would be to add one more vegetarian dish or change it up every other day or so. Other than, everything was great :)

Yelp
One of the best restaurants around. The food was cooked perfectly, and the service is phenomenal.

Yelp
The Plaza hotel, it is not. For the price, I was expecting so much more, so yes, this place is indeed a let down. However, let's be real for a hot sec: West Yellowstone isn't bumping boutique hotels. And if you're not looking to stay in or near the town, but a bit outside and not near the hundreds of tourists roaming the streets, Bar N Ranch isn't a horrible spot. Our room was huge, with a big comfy bed and it was quiet and cleanish. The bathroom was disgusting and needs a face lift, or at least a new curtain - a plastic, stained, sheet doesn't do it. The tv is miniscule with no cable, the fireplace didn't work. The hot tub was broken, however, there was a heated pool that didn't seem too inviting. What really brings down the three stars to two is just the complete lack of charm and community, for lack of a better word. This is basically a bed and breakfast with cabins. The main house is a huge rustic cabin, yet there was no coziness to speak of. The fireplaces weren't roaring in the morning or at night. There was no onsite manager making people feel warm and welcome. You kind of creeped in, head to your room and then creep out. I'd suggest aiming to get one of the independent cabins. The room was just a room and for the price, I was expecting a little bit more than a bed. Now, where to stay next time? I think I'd hit up the Holiday Inn in West Yellowstone. Although you aren't quite in the wilderness, it ended up being a pretty nice hotel! :: Regardless, go check it out as they have an original pullman cart that you can tour.::

Yelp
We stayed at Bar N Ranch in early August in one of their tiny homes and had an amazing time! We were visiting Yellowstone National Park (entrance is an easy 15 minutes away), and wanted to stay somewhere unique, not just a hotel in town. Bar N Ranch did not disappoint! The views on property are spectacular, and the staff was more than accommodating. They were helpful and nice; the type of people who you can easily start a conversation with because they were so friendly! Our tiny home had a king sized bed, dresser, couch, mini fridge, fireplace (and a heater), and our own bathroom. It was cozy and perfect for 2 people. We did have a minor hiccup with our shower (no hot water), but maintenance came within minutes of us calling and fixed it right away! Also, cell phone service and WiFi is spotty!! So if you're a heavy social media/Netflix user, you might want to stay in the main lodge where there's WiFi. But we were happy with grabbing some books from the communal bookshelf in the main lodge. Embers (the restaurant on site) was delicious!! Breakfast included with your stay, so you can grab a piece of fruit and a bagel before heading out to Yellowstone. Or, you can sit down and enjoy coffee, oatmeal, bacon, eggs, whatever really! They had it all! Embers offered "Boxed Lunch", which you order the day before, and pick up on your way out the next day. The menu consist of wraps and sandwiches, complete with fruit and chips. Perfect for adventuring out in Montana! We used the boxed lunch option twice and was very good. Overall, if you're looking for a unique experience in West Yellowstone and are willing to pay a little more, Bar N Ranch is worth the money!!!

Yelp
Overall a pleasant stay. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Housekeeping on the other hand could have been better; they did not remove trash even though it was overflowing and also didn't replace a bath towel as requested so we only had one to share on our last morning. The room itself was a bit small but it was well appointed. Personally I found the mattress and pillows to be too firm and I had a hard time sleeping on them. Not to mention that they did not provide us with body lotion or a bar of soap (pretty standard at any hotel) so I had to go buy them at a local store; of course the day before we were set to leave they decided to stock our bathroom with a razor, soap and lotion so I'm not sure why they weren't there in the first place. The fireplace takes forever to start as well but you may not even want to bother because they really crank up the heat in the room. We had to sleep with the door open to let the natural breeze in. The restaurant on the property served a complimentary breakfast but we didn't care for it so ate in town most of the time. We also went there for dinner one night and it was actually decent (we got the trout and beef burger). I wish the bar had a cocktail menu but other than that it was fine. I think if you're looking for a decent place to stay that isn't too far from the park or the main strip this is fine but don't expect four star accommodations.

Yelp
I have a service dog for medical reasons and was denied entry immediately without getting the chance to explain or show my papers, which constitutes an ADA violation. Really awful. Wouldn't recommend this discriminatory establishment.

Yelp
To start out with a positive, the view is very nice if you sit all the way to the back. The food is very mediocre and incredibly overpriced. You walk in and are told you can sit wherever you want, and then you walk up to whatever staff member you can find to order. We chose the bartender. We ordered cocktails and our dinner (app and entrees). He took our order, and our app came out which was good (4/5). Then our dinner came. Cocktails still haven't come. My boyfriend went up to bother him, and he had forgotten the drinks order altogether. He then proceeded to make cocktails for a couple that ordered after us. He finally got to our cocktails. Cocktails were just fine, but nowhere near the price point. I would've preferred to make my own. Mediocre at best. The dinner was very basic for the price. My trout ($27) was over cooked and not flavorful at all. It came with this bulgar wheat that was literally plain, and the veggies had sooooo much salt I could barely eat them. My boyfriend had a bison burger that was tasted very blah, very sub par imitation gourmet burger. The bartender did comp beers we ordered after because of the cocktail disaster, which was nice. I would pick anywhere else in west Yellowstone over this place. I'm really unsure why they have great reviews but avoid at all costs.

Yelp
Where to start? I guess all you need to know is that we had 4 days in West Yellowstone and we came back here two of them for dinner. Due to "unprecedented occupancy" at the campgrounds we could only come after 730pm, but trust me it's worth it. The rotating menu of drinks and dinners was amazing, and meant we could have something different both nights. Skip the tourists and all around meh food in West Yellowstone and drive 10 minutes outside for a premium meal.

Yelp
Not Happy! Food was overcooked. Left hungry. Had to go to another restaurant after spending $25 on dinner.

Yelp
I'm a bit late on my review but this place is wonderfully amazing. I fell in love with Montana here. The skies are incredible the grounds are amazing. The cabin was incredibly cozy. The food was delicious and you could get lunch packs to go. Be careful drinking wine lol it hits you pretty quick at that altitude but makes for a fun adventure. We absolutely loved every moment while there. We'll definitely be planning another trip very soon!

Yelp
Cabin is super clean and cozy. They have cabins, lux tents, an awesome ranch house, and a restaurant called Embers. Everyone is friendly. They encourage community by having a campfire and providing S'mores fixings every night! It was great to meet new people from all over. Seriously, this is such a unique place.

Yelp
We stayed here for a few nights recently in one of the cabins. Everyone was great!! Laura was so kind to pick us up in town since we got there early and the cabin was perfect, comfortable, and very spacious!! The view was amazing and the hot tub was awesome. The dinner at the restaurant has changed in the last year but in my opinion for the better! We had the tacos, trout, burger, and chicken and it was all great and came to our table quickly. And again those sunset views!! All around a wonderful stay. Looking forward to making this spot a must stay in the future.

Yelp
We stayed at Yellowstone under canvas and walked over to the Bar n Ranch for dinner. Although this was our plan all along, we did not make any reservations for dinner since we did not know what time we would make it there. We went about 8:30 and they seated us right away. The waitress was really lovely and we had a great table over looking Yellowstone under canvas with a view of the sunset. Food was really great. We don't eat meat so review is for the fish items. We started with the trout cakes from the bar menu. Yum. These were great. Then we had the trout for dinner (figured we would go all out since its fresh and local). The trout main course comes with a ton of food (we were definitely stuffed after). Comes with a soup or salad and rice or potatoes (mashed, baked etc. ) and veggies. Trout was seasoned great. We really had a great meal here and nice break from the sandwiches we had been eating in the park. We would definitely come back. Lovely people, good food.

Yelp
Gorgeous lodge style setting providing comfort while you dine on a chilly winter night. We're staying at Yellowstone under canvas this was the only option for dinner so decided to walk about half a mile one way. Greeted with smile and served well by the the server made this experience worthy the price and location. Ordered the vegetarian burger which was all right with little bit of burnt bun but the fries were good. The pear salad with blue cheese and pecans was very good - must try if you like vegetarian food. Now comes the peculiar part of this restaurant - the taxidermy mounts of deer, bison, condor, elk and so on. Even they decor the walls of the restaurant, an animal lover will have to stifle emotions else eat else where. The views from the restaurant are great so perhaps a great way to start your day while in west Yellowstone.

Yelp
My wife and I came here during our trip to Yellowstone National Park because we were looking for a nice sit-down meal experience, and I'd read reviews about the view here. First, the grounds and the inside of the restaurant are beautiful. The restaurants sits on a large piece of property, complete with cows, horses, and vintage automobiles. I recommend arriving just before sunset, so you can enjoy the view and get some good pictures. The entire structure is wood, and smacks of a craftsman construction that looks very new. The place is almost worth visiting just to look at it. The service was also good. The host and waitress gave good recommendations, and they were friendly. I ordered the stuffed chicken breast, and my wife had the filet, and both were very enjoyable. She ordered her filet medium, and it came out about medium rare, so keep this in mind if you are averse to rare meat. The scalloped potatoes that came with her filet were also noteworthy. They came in a stack with bacon in the sauce. My garlic mashed potatoes were good as well. The only disappointment we had from the experience were the garden salads that came with our entrees. While the homemade blue cheese dressing that came with our entrees was good, the salads themselves were not. First, the portion of garden salad (And I'm talking the most mundane garden salad {i.e. iceberg lettuce, carrots, sliced cucumber, etc.} was anemic. There was so little salad that it didn't even cover the bottom of the bread plate on which it was served. As soon as the server set it on the table, I wanted to laugh. Secondly, the vegetables themselves did not look fresh. The sliced cucumbers looked like they'd been sitting out drying. I guess they want you to upgrade your salad for $2 to the Wedge salad, which I saw come out, and it looked large, but it seems this tactic is lost on travelers who will likely visit only once, only to be offended by a sub par and stingy salad. Lastly, it seems prudent to steer clear of the bison dishes. I was considering ordering the bison before one of the employees told me in an aside that it has too much fat, advice that was corroborated by other online reviews.

Yelp
Let me say food is delicious. Burger was undercooked which they fixed quickly. My complaint is there is no servers. You basically have to try to stop random workers to try to get refills or condiments. The ask that you tip as you order but don't tell you your tip doesn't go to a server because there isn't one. Salad looks like it was pulled out of field no lettuce just greens. Bison burger was delicious once it was cooked to where it didn't moo at me.

Yelp
This restaurant is ONLY for guests staying at the lodge/under the canvas. Super unclear on their website, and even if you make the trek out there- they won't allow you to eat in the restaurant. When I asked why, the hostess said because they only know how to stock food for the current guests. ‍

Yelp
I am hard pressed to have had a better meal anywhere. The flavor combinations were incredible. I had the Salmon which was cooked perfectly and complimented with two wonderful purées. The bison and elk kabobs my husband ordered were wonderful and I don't like wild game but WOW! My dad ordered the bison burger and it was great too. This place is totally worth the drive for dinner. Even with the bear and bison sightings, old faithful and a great day in Yellowstone, this place was THE highlight of our visit.

Yelp
great!!! rustic cabins big enough for a family of four. laid back. close enough to the park and town. nice restaurant on site. couldnt get the kids out of the pool. The restaurant has good food at reasonable prices (at least if you are coming from the coasts), but service is very inconsistent. Pretty sure they had staffing issues with COVID.

Yelp
We were staying at "Under the Canvas" camp on the same property and we were tired after a long day sight seeing. Make reservations, as appears to get very crowded for good reason! The restaurant was not much to look at from the outside, but don't let that deter you from going inside....it was really very lovely inside, with lots of window's overlooking the lovely hills of West Yellowstone, MT. A little pricey and the menu is limited, but everything we ordered was delicious. My husband had a bison burger which he really enjoyed. I had a beet salad with salmon filet on the side. Both were delicious! The staff was very friendly and attentive. I would strongly recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
Worst restaurant experience I have ever had....every family member thought their dish was bad....worst hamburger I have ever had...for $17...and terrible service...they did not even tell me we had to order at the bar

Yelp
We stayed for one evening as we were passing through on our way to Jackson Wyoming. Entire staff was very friendly and welcoming. We will definitely stay again when in the area!
