"To better understand the civil rights movement and its impact on Atlanta, stop by Ebenezer Baptist Church, where both Martin Luther King Jr. and his father served as pastors. The living, breathing landmark, located in Sweet Auburn, is now a part of the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park, which also includes King’s childhood home, a visitor center, and the King Center. Here, you can see whereMLK preached his sermons, and even attend a Sunday service."

I had an opportunity to serve the “Ebenezer Everywhere” family as a Minstrel for their Mother’s Day celebration and, as always, it’s a distinct honor serving their house of worship. During this bout ministry support, I was especially privileged to experience the exceptional ministry of a legendary trailblazer for women in Ministry—Bishop Vashti McKinsey and also meet her in person! It was humbling to meet one of my personal heroes of the Black Church—one I had only read about and studied in books—while also serving the same hallowed ministry where Dr. Martin Luther King and his father once served, and where the current sitting U.S. Senator of Georgia also pastors. This was a powerful, intersecting moment for me and one I will never forget. 🙏🏾

Went for service with a large group of mainly white folks from NC. The congregation was so warm and welcoming. Every person I encountered told me to come back, that the door is always open. Rev Warnock and the music were so inspiring. If I lived in ATL, this would be my church. This is a special place.

Pretty neat spot if you're interested in learning about MLK. The tour guide was very informative and friendly (though he talks fast!). As far as I know, the church is closed unless you are there for a service or one of the guided tours, which are twice a day. I highly recommend the museum, which is across the street, as well. This whole area is necessary viewing for anyone in the area. And it's free!

I enjoyed my visit. I am planning a trip for my eighth-grade students, and this will be part of the visit. I am excited.

I'm so grateful to have walked through a part of history that I would've never dreamed that I could. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's presence still can be felt throughout this Church & I am amazed by this experience.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

My visit at Dr. MLK's father's church Ebenezer Baptist was moving. The opportunity to visit where he preached was humbling. Because the church was still pretty much restored to the era of the sixties I felt like I was in a timepiece. The staff was polite and informative. I would visit it again.

This was an awesome experience. We toured the church and MLK's birth home. My children were asking so many questions about the different artifacts that were preserved. It just makes you realize how far we have come but how much harder we have to fight.

Heartbreaking you did nothing for a hungry baby. Suddenly people really see the real you and what churches are about.Don't you be shaking fingers at other people now. You have your own house to clean. Sad.

Yelp
Last year, during some down time at Dragon Con, I saw that this historic church still offers services, and I kicked myself for not packing church-worthy clothing. This year, I was prepared, and when I came to Dragon Con I packed a dress so I could attend the service. It was wonderful--inspiring, full of God's love, and a very necessary reminder that the Lord is not a MAGA Republican TYVM. I highly recommend attending a service if you can--but do be sure to wear something on the dressy side (people DRESS UP for church here) and have sone money to throw in the collection basket. Thank you, Ebenezer Baptist Church, for restoring my faith!

Yelp
Have you ever been somewhere and in the stillness, you can feel history moving around you? I was overwhelmed with emotion sitting in one of the pews, reflecting on what this church has meant to Black Americans, America herself, and to the Civil Rights Movement. It was powerful. The church itself is maintained as it was. It was a functioning, real church until not that long ago. So in comparing the sight before my eyes with historical photos, there's no difference. It remains as it was. And my husband and I were lucky to catch a "Church Talk" with an amazing park ranger who told the story of the King family like it was her own. Her charming way to telling the story made us feel like old neighbors catching up, rather than tourists. She is truly a treasure and I really enjoyed speaking with her after her talk. She was able to point to people in the crowd in the giant photo of Dr. King's funeral procession and tell us who they were and their connection to him. If you're in Atlanta, and you like history, this is a must do.

Yelp
Church service at 10am and if you're lucky you'll have Rev. Warnock speak. The church loves the Lord and praising Him. I enjoyed this wonderful church service.

Yelp
Went for the first Sunday of the year, I really felt the spirit. The woman who lead worship was amazing!!! I can't wait to come back for bible study. Glad to be a member of this church.

Yelp
Wonderful service where the Holy Spirit is present. The choir is very upbeat and professionally trained along with the band.

Yelp
The people in the church were warm and welcoming. They asked the guests by name to stand and sang a song. It was a little uncomfortable, but I appreciated the sentiment. Tons of people said hello and introduced themselves after church. It was a genuinely nice group of people.
