The River Lee Hotel (Cork, County Cork) 4 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Some Irish hotels lean heavily on the historical atmosphere, but we’re always happy to find one that’s comfortable acknowledging the passage of time. In the city of Cork, the Irish Republic’s southern seaport, there’s plenty of heritage to hold on to, but there’s also a healthy dose of modern luxury hospitality, if that’s the sort of thing you’re in the market for, in the form of The Doyle Collection’s River Lee Hotel." - Tablet Hotels

Great location, just a short walk to city centre. The hotel is modern but with a cosy, welcoming ambience. Very good food, especially the breakfast, which is outstanding! The biggest plus is the staff, who are unfailingly polite, helpful and friendly, even when it's extremely busy! They interact with guests as if we're all old friends! We'll absolutely be back - for a longer stay!

Visited The Grill Room here to celebrate a family occasion. The hotel is lovely and the staff are very helpful and professional. |However, while our food was tasty, it was not worth the cost. The prices do not reflect the standard. It was disappointing that sides and veg were not included in the price of the main meal. |The parking is also not included and, at €3 an hour, it’s not cheap. It would be expected that the ticket would be validated at the reception and a reduced rate/free be applied for hotel diners. |Overall, a disappointing experience, and we are unlikely to return as a group

Great location with a short walk to plenty of restaurants and attractions. Very comfortable and clean. Very good gym and facilities attached to the hotel. Car park is a bit of a pain in terms of how it works if you keep driving in and out and wish to pay only a day rate - takes time to validate at desk with each drive. Very nice staff. Breakfast is really good and has a great spread; but the eggs are very poorly cooked. The poached egg has an almost hard boiled yolk. Fried eggs, sunny side up… none of the eggs we ordered has any runny yolk which was really bad considering how many eggs the kitchen must cook each day

We stayed one night at the River Lee Hotel on the 14th of October. The hotel is well-located at the western end of Cork City. The lobby staff were friendly and professional. It's a modern building, with a nice lobby, bars, and restaurant/breakfast room. Our room was comfortable, with modern outlets, good lighting and a nice bathroom. We enjoyed oysters and wine in the bar...the bar staff were great, the oysters and wine...and the bar...were top notch. Self-parking was nearby and reasonable.

We enjoyed our stay here! The lobby has been recently renovated and looks gorgeous, while the rooms are a bit dated but had everything we needed for our first night in Ireland. Our room was at the back of the hotel, so it was very quiet, and we slept great. Self-parking was easy, and the on-site restaurants were a big plus—we had a great meal at the River Club when we were too tired to venture out in the rain to find food. The location is fantastic, with an easy walk to everywhere we wanted to go in Cork. Would definitely recommend.

Update: I need to share more! After our two week stay, it's time to finish this review. I specifically need to add my appreciation for Lucas! We spent many a night being well taken care of by this fine gentleman. He is a very knowledgeable bartender and knows how to make recommendations that highlight offering unique to the region. I now have a new appreciation for Irish gin as well as Irish vodka! And, of course, we ran through the years and tiers of Irish whiskey. Lucas was kind, patient, friendly, soft-spoken, yet engaging... We lit up every time we saw he was working and joined him each night for, at the very least, a night cap or digestif. Most nights though, we really opened up the options and let him recommend us through the shelves of stock presented at the bar. We miss him and his quiet smile already. Thank you Lucas! And thank you all for such a wonderful stay. Original:Allow me to gush while the experience is new! Karolina, a young lady at the front desk, was so kind and patient and helpful. We made an inquiry (I can't give the details here or people will just abuse the information and cause the hotel and staff no end of grief by taking advantage with selfish requests)... But... We make the inquiry and about ten minutes later, there was a knock on the door of our room with someone turning that inquiry into a fulfilled request. This is above and beyond hospitality! So far, everyone is friendly and professional... Even when facing cranky, entitled, self absorbed customers. Well done. And thank you. This is our first day here. Looking forward to the next two weeks calling this place our (temporary) home away from home.

I felt comfortable. Very pleasant hotel. A few minor things that I didn't like. Well located But overall GOOD!||||Rooms on the 4th floor do not have USB charging ports, only Irish sockets (bring an adapter). The extensive carpeting in the hotel is somewhat unhygienic. However, it is very friendly and very clean!

Google
Hotel is located in a great location for both UCC and the city centre and with convenient transport links outside for further a field travel. Hotel has stunning views and viewing platforms/seating areas on each floor of the river. and the bars are well stocked with good bar tender knowledge.

Yelp
Wonderful hotel, I stayed at the River Lee on business and was had a wonderful stay. The hotel staff were so kind and accommodating. I especially enjoyed having my daily breakfasts in the hotel, and loved most everything on their menu. I also recommend their Massaman curry for room service. The hotel is situated in a quieter area of Cork, still within walking distance to the city center. You'll have a wonderful stay at the River Lee Hotel.

Yelp
We stayed at the River Lee Hotel back in August for a few days. We had an excellent experience from the moment we walked in. We were booked for a classic double room, but when we went to check in they offered us a king room instead, with no fees. The room was beautiful, clean, spacious, and had a nice view. The food was great - we ate breakfast at the hotel each day, and ate dinner a couple of times too. We were very impressed with the quality of the food, not your average hotel food - this was gourmet! The service is what impressed us the most! Everyone was wonderful! So nice, helpful, friendly. We are coming back to Cork in July and plan to stay here again. Well done!

Yelp
This review is strictly for the River Club restaurant. I have been eating both brunch and dinner here for two years and have never had a bad experience. The service is always top notch, the food is consistently fantastic, and the music is amazing. (Especially when they call in a dj from bunch! I forget his name but he also works at the Pavillion and he is DIVINE!) It's also strikingly beautiful with a very calm but non-lethargic atmosphere. The bartenders are also highly skilled. They made me one of the nicest margaritas I've ever had in Cork. They are also very willing and able to do substitutions, which I know can be a pain, but didn't seem to trouble the staff at all. Each time I come I leave full and very very happy. Definitely a go to for celebrating special events and just for treating myself.

Yelp
Got the two double room overlooking the River. It's a good size for three people. Get the River view if possible as the other side is overlooking the parking, very gloomy. Front desk is very helpful as they are about to accommodate our request.

Yelp
I've been to the River Lee Hotel a few times now and I love this hotel! The staff are friendly, the hotel looks great and so is the food

Yelp
Beautiful atmosphere and seats. Accommodating for vegans....but terrible at coffee . Delicious brunch food. We gave them back a cup of foam from the undrinkable coffees...& waitress didn't blink or apologize. We asked for water twice. We didn't receive it. Sad. Loved the sausages. The Creme brûlée was disappointing . Oily after taste. Overwhelmingly sweet (& I love creme brulee...I know it's supposed to be sweet...this went too far). The vanilla custard layer wasn't set properly...was watery at bottom and Luke warm...with cold patches. Would have preferred either cold or warm. Perhaps defrosted in a microwave?!? Vegan dessert was amazing! Kudos. The vegan sausages were good. Great spot for vegans

Yelp
Housekeeping and some of the people working in the bar/restaurant were awesome. I wish I could remember their names to highlight them because if it wasn't for them, I would have left this hotel with a very bitter taste in my mouth due to some our our interactions with staff. Don't bother trying to speak to the manager cause he's rude lol and if you order room service and they forget something, they will roll their eyes if you politely ask for what you ordered and paid for (this happened twice). With the exception of a few people, the staff was rude as hell, our phones didn't work, the seal in our shower was broken so water would get everywhere and the tv didn't work for the first few days either. When we booked this hotel we were told we could get an extra bed for a fourth person for a fee. However, when we got here we were told that wasn't the case and actually that it was against the law to have more than 3 people in a hotel room (not sure how true that is). It was a little frustrating because we had someone flying in from London to meet with us the next day so she ended up spending another $400 at a different hotel. They said the only way we could have a 4th person was if it was a minor. Which doesn't make any sense for all the crap he was telling us about potential fires all the "law" stuff. It sucked but there was nothing we could do. To make it worse, the hotel kept sending management to our room to "see if we were happy with housekeeping" but really they just wanted to keep checking our room to make sure we didn't have a 4th person in there and we didn't. Also we had a bottle of vodka in the room that went missing. Overall a shit experience, it would all have been fine if we weren't treated the way we were. I would not encourage anyone to come here, personally.

Yelp
This review is for Filomena, she is a server at the hotels restaurants. She was such a delight and thoughtful. My coworker and I stayed here on a business trip and worked through some of our meals, Filomena noticed and was super accommodating. Hotel has nice amenities and the main floor has a great ambiance

Yelp
Again, I'm back about The River Lee Hotel. Today we are leaving after 4 incredible days in Cork. The hotel; cleaning in rooms is the best anywhere. I forgot to put my toiletries away and when I went back to the room they were on a towel, perfectly placed and at an equal distance one from the other. Slippers lined up perfectly on each side of the bed and with the exact inclination on each side. Their attention to detail is incredible, you feel like a real GUEST!! Again, the restaurant and the service espectacular!!! Food to die for!!! The personal and reception is beyond comparison, best anywhere!!!! DEFINITELY COMING BACK...!!! Thank you all soooo very much!!!!

Yelp
My wife and I spent a week at The River Lee and were happy with it. This could well be the best hotel in Cork, but it's a bit tired and could use some improvements if it wants to be a truly top-notch hotel. We paid for a deluxe room which put us on the 5th floor (ie. executive floor) and granted access to the Executive Lounge, which is a sitting area at the end of the hallway with a TV, some snacks, sweets and a coffee machine. The deluxe room also included a Nespresso machine in the room and turndown service. Both were nice (but ultimately unnecessary) little perks. The hotel is shaped like a backwards L and you definitely want a view to the north facing the river. We had a room in the back and the view was not scenic and we had to keep the curtain closed most of the time anyway because other people could see into our room as a result of the L shape and weird pop out design. I guess the pop out gives the rooms a little more square footage but it's not worth it, especially in the back. Honestly they should take all the river-facing rooms and make them the deluxe rooms and make everything else the regular rooms. If I'm paying for the highest tier of room I would have rather been in a river-facing room on a lower floor rather than our room facing the back on the top floor. The room itself was comfortable with a few small flaws. The HVAC was noisy. The toilet took multiple button pushes to properly flush. More outlets or some USB ports would be nice, given the amount of technology that people travel with these days. Neither power adapter we brought fit in the outlet on the desk, rending it useless. The old SD TV and should have been upgraded to a nice flat screen HDTV at least a few years ago. Maybe this is an American-centric complaint but most other nice hotels in Europe have done this. On the positive side, the location is great - a very easy walk just about everywhere in the city center, and the staff here are all fantastic as well. Our room included breakfast and it was high quality with a good number of choices. Cork doesn't have a ton of hotels and for that reason I'd stay at the River Lee again, though I'd do everything in my power to get a river view next time.

Yelp
Lovely hotel staff were very nice overall ,There was one woman maître d in resataurant who could use some customer service manners but rest were great,,I was there 3 night before I even realized there was a bar/restaurant in hotel as we weren't told and you can't see them from reception which is a shame as they are nice when you find them,,

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights while on honeymoon and we were blown away! Full disclosure: We received a complimentary upgrade to a "deluxe" room on the 5th floor. The River Lee is very modern and comfortable and offers unobstructed view of Cork from its peaceful setting near the river. Upon arrival, we were welcomed at the reception desk with hot towels and later we found complimentary waters, chocolates, and a honeymoon dessert in our room. The bed was extremely comfortable and the shower was refreshing and clean. We loved sitting in our "balcony" outcrop watching the city life in the evenings. (Though beware that neighboring rooms can see you if you do this.) Our only complaint is that the air conditioner in the room had a mind of its own. It was either running or flashing a maintenance wrench and we couldn't do anything other than turn it off. Deluxe rooms come with access to the executive lounge which is fully stocked with waters, juices, and coffee bar. It also offers breakfast items in the morning, desserts at night, and snacks throughout the day. The Full Irish Breakfast was one of the bests we had while in Ireland - so much variety! (Not so much in the cooked foods department, but with fruits, yogurt/porridge mix-ins, breads, etc.) Definitely stay here if you can! You might never want to leave the hotel!

Yelp
We had a fantastic stay, the staff was excellent, and it was a very comfortable room. Make sure to take advantage of the indoor pool and jacuzzi as well as the gym. Also, you won't regret getting the breakfast buffet. The breakfast spread is amazing. Super comfortable beds and pillows.

Yelp
Quiet, comfortable, good location, and a great view. All in all staying here was a good experience. When we checked in I asked if it would be possible to have a river view. I held little hope, but the front desk attendant was able to snag us a nice view. I would strongly suggest you either request ahead of time or ask nicely when you arrive. The rooms have a large seating area near the window that overlooks the river. Well worth it. The rooms themselves were fine. We don't hang out in hotel rooms so I just want a comfortable bed, a quiet place, a dark place, and a decent bathroom. The River Lee Hotel checked off all those boxes. The location is fairly central without putting you in the middle of things. It was a comfortable 10-20 minute walk to get anywhere you needed to go. Plus it being right on the river made it easy to find. The only thing I would say is that Cork is a city that might be worth debating about visiting. Our guide book didn't even cover it, and I could (at times) see why. Still there are some things in Cork worth seeing, so if you find yourself here check out the River Lee hotel. 86/100

Yelp
The Irish breakfast was incredible. Stopped here on my first hour in Cork and I could not have been more impressed. Food was hot, ready, and delicious. There were so many options It was even hard to decide. All the drinks were fresh and delicious. This place is a must stop if you are ever near Cork!

Yelp
Went there for a beautiful dinner last Monday night. We were greeted friendly upon entering and guided to our table. The staff was very welcoming and friendly, the atmosphere is beautifully relaxing and I am a big fan of the decor. We opted for an appetizer each, I can highly recommend the pork belly. For our mains we had a burger and the gnocchi. Both were beautiful. I'd go as far as saying this was the best burger I've had in Cork. Paired with a beautiful wine. This was a great dinner experience. Thanks to Aisling and her tremendous crew on the floor and in the kitchen! :)

Yelp
I found the River Lee Hotel to be perfectly adequate. It's a modern hotel in an old city. It reminds me very much of the Aloft brand. The common areas are clean and modern, but feel somewhat contrived and cold. The rooms are comfortable enough...beds are fine, pillows were lacking, the temperature was never quite right. It was really warm when we got there, so we opened the window and then it became too cold. Then when we went to bed it was BAKING. The air conditioning was quite loud when used. It bothered me that we had to pay a tray charge to have drinks and food sent up. Two Euro for drinks and Five Euro for food. The Malbec I ordered was relatively undrinkable. The Chicken Tika was tasteless. I will say the desserts were better. At breakfast, I ordered Bircher Muesli and was given Irish Oatmeal which she insisted was Muesli. She then took it away and brought me the correct order. I was happy that they didn't make us pay for parking considering the garage charged over 2 Euro an hour with no cap. Finally, it's quite far from the center of town. It took us about 20 minutes to walk into town. That being said, it's right on the River Lee and close to Paradiso, an excellent vegetarian restaurant.

Yelp
I didn't book a room with a fancy view but I still got a glimpse of a beautiful cathedral. Of course it was the backdrop to the back parking lot and the gym but if you focus on the trees and the sky, it's ok! The hotel is pretty decent. The rooms are a good size and they have decent amenities. No robes or slippers but good soaps and they always refilled. I liked that the hotel was by the river and it seemed pretty walkable to other areas. The parking lot itself can seem like a bit of a drive going in but the parking area (the entire lot is shared with another building) for the hotel is underneath the hotel and easily accessible from the hotel's elevators. They will validate your parking if you stay there (all you have to do is grab a ticket when you come in and change it out with the front desk when you are ready to grab your car). I love their glass elevators, you get such a great view when ascending and descending. The elevators come out to a small lobby sitting area on each floor which offers splendid views of cork. Everything feels modern and clean, they do a great job at up keep. The restaurants are decent. They have a casual bar area, a tapas bar area and finally a restaurant way in the back. Prices are a bit high to be honest and food is only so-so (nothing amazing but nothing horrible either). The staff are all friendly enough. I'd recommend my friends stay here if they come to Cork.
google avatar

Kristina B.

Yelp
This hotel was great... EXCELLENT customer service! The rooms were much larger than most I've been to in Ireland. And the decor was plain, but still modern and contemporary. I love how it is walking distance from downtown. If ever I'm in Cork, Ireland again, I'll be staying here!

Yelp
I felt that my experience was truly average and thus deserves a three star rating. We stayed here for two nights during our vacation. The hotel is uninteresting and completely generic. It could have been any hotel in any city. I didn't find anything special or unique here. The staff were nice but did nothing more or less than required. The hotel as a whole, room included, was clean and comfortable but nothing special, nothing that stood out. The restaurant food wasn't that great and the service really, really slow. Our room was large and the bathroom better than most. For me the best thing about this hotel was the location. We were able to walk to everything fairly easily.

Yelp
I really liked this hotel and it's a great value. I think my room was about 85 euros. Facilities are modern and seem brand new. Parking is free for guests and it's right under the hotel (need to drive around the back to enter the parking garage). The gym is huge and brand new. The hotel is a little outside of city center but it's a quick 5 minute walk. A few areas of improvement. No wifi in the rooms and some of the bulbs in my room were out. Otherwise, thought this was a great value.

Yelp
A very modern hotel amongst the charm and backdrop of Cork. I was fortunate to have a room overlooking the Lee River and Cork from the glass balcony. Even their two glass elevators highlighted the scenic view of the city as I rode to my room. The room I booked for three nights was spacious and came with all the accommodations a traveler could need. It had a fridge, complementary tea/coffee, tv, ironing board, and bathroom with both a shower and tub. The beds were comfortable and the rooms very quiet for a peaceful night's rest. But definitely the scenic views are what I'd book this hotel for again. The hotel is located a bit off the beat, about 10 minutes by foot from all the downtown shops and restaurants. The walk to the main area is easy and picturesque, especially with the river following you a portion of the way. If the feet are tired from a day's excursion, there is a restaurant/ bar located on the hotel's ground level that offers decent fair for a good price. I had dinner twice there, one partaking in their delicious 8 oz. burger and chips and another enjoying their leek and potato soup with side salad. The staff is also friendly and attentive.

Yelp
I loved this place. I paid up to get a room on the executive floor facing the river and enjoyed the view from the floor-to-ceiling glass windows. Everything was clean and the staff was outstanding. The food was good and the hotel is an easy walk into the busy parts of Cork. I would stay here again any time I return to Cork.

Yelp
The River Lee is our favorite hotel in Ireland. We loved our huge room with a spectacular view of the river and city. The hotel is perfectly located near to everything Cork. The full Irish breakfasts are wonderful, and the staff are competent and friendly. We also especially appreciated the free parking provided at the attached garage and the great onsite sports club.

Yelp
After four nights in Dublin followed by three in Galway, my wife and I took a series of trains southwards towards Ireland's second largest city, Cork. We arrived just past two, and quickly were able to hire a taxi. Our driver took us on a rather circuitous route around the town center, during which the missus commented "geesh, this sure is an industrial city", eventually arriving at our destination. After two hotels that were housed in rather classic buildings, the River Lee was a porthole back into the 21st century. We were greeted on this rather humid afternoon by a blast of air conditioning upon entering the glass revolving doors, the floors were slick, and the desk attendants seemed to have the most modern of technology at their disposal. Check-in went smoothly, and we took the elevator to our room on the fourth floor. Normally I (nor anybody else) is that excited to take a lift, but I have to say that this hotel's was amongst the quickest I've ever had the pleasure of riding... to the point that I only took the stairs once during our three nights at this location (I generally take the stairs, both up and down, whenever feasible). And the view across the south leg of the River Lee is rather impressive. As for our room - very modern indeed, with the air conditioning working as well as it could be. The fitness center has both a weight room and a pool area, both well-maintained with up-to-date equipment. My only regret was that we passed on the breakfast buffet, as it was a bit more expensive than we were used to paying, but as our early morning food experiences wound up being, might not have been a bad idea. We did enjoy dinner (and dessert) on two of the nights, and greatly enjoyed the fish and chips. Drinks menu reminded me a bit too much of pricey San Francisco bars, however. But by and large, the River Lee is more than adequate, especially considering the easy access to the attractions of downtown Cork.

Yelp
Great hotel! Wonderful service. I wasn't feeling well, the staff at 1/2 AM, they went and got me various items from kitchen. The deliver newspaper in morning, turn down services with a chocolate on your pillow. Amazing breakfast buffet and the late night staff will make you drinks after the bar closes til 4 am. Walking distance to almost everything in Cork. Love that the windows open.
google avatar

Courtney M.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel for a reasonable price! Lovely bar area with outdoor seating. We included breakfast ahead of time on our reservation for a cheaper price. All of the food was amazing and hotel staff were super helpful. We were traveling from the US and looked into using their laundry services but it was pricey. Ended up going to a local laundry service around the corner. Hotel is located within walking distance of the English Market and all of the downtown pubs/restaurants.

Yelp
This place was great, I'm not picking on cork but they don't seem to have the 5 star hotel thing quite right. This however is really nice, located on you guessed it; the River Lee next to University of Cork. (I dated a girl who went here, she wasn't very smart. She failed the bar Exam a lot and never did become a laywer lol). She was an awful person. The room was clean, the buffet was good and not too over priced and they were quick to help us at any point we asked them to. I especially enjoyed the view from our room up top, overlooking the river and most of cork. The parking garage while located under the hotel was odd in getting to. They have a great elevator that is glass on all sides and allows you to see outside, which again is a magnificent view. The rooms also have outlet windows that extend the facade of the structure itself, and are very cool. I also got to meet my 1st cousin who i had no idea existed until this year, so meeting her and her family made this hotel stay very cool. Family secrets, who knew my dad had 4 brothers and sisters !?!! No one that's who... True Story !

Yelp
We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel while in Cork! We had an amazing view of the Cathedral & access to the executive lounge on the 5th floor. The executive lounge was a nice get away for a snack, water, or cup of tea/coffee. The lounge also has a panoramic view of Cork. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from downtown Cork. We were celebrating our 10 year anniversary, and hotel staff recommended one of the best restaurants we've eaten at since coming to Ireland! They also gave us a piece of cake with happy anniversary in our room, which was a nice touch. This hotel is modern, staff are very friendly & accommodating, and is in a great location!

Yelp
The River Lee Hotel was nothing short of a glorious sanctuary to begin recovery from the horrors of Stauntons on the Green in Dublin. And at 155 euros per night, it far surpassed my expectations. We reserved a king room which granted us access to the executive lounge. Thankfully, our travel mates upgraded as well because the lounge included a very nice continental breakfast with coffee, tea, juices, fruit, yogurt, and a variety of scones and assorted pastries. We not only had breakfast there each morning, we were able to stop in throughout the day for water or a break and enjoy the view. The room was spacious and modern, as well as immaculately clean. This category of room also includes turndown service. Speaking of turndown, I've never understood the value in this concept. Is pulling back your own sheet so difficult that you need someone to do it for you? Anyhow, I'm not one to complain if someone wants to leave a chocolate on my pillow though. In fact, my husband should be doing this! The only negative I found was both times we ate at Weir Bar, the service was incredibly slow. The food was good, however. With complimentary parking and wifi, you get your money's worth and then some. If I ever have cause to return to Cork, this is where I will stay!

Yelp
I recently spent 7 nights at The River Lee Hotel while I was in Cork for business. The hotel is very nice and located only a short walk from restaurants and shops in Cork. The room was large and comfortable. I was really shocked to see that my room came with a walk-in shower and a separate bathtub. Everything about the hotel was great, including the breakfast and bar. This hotel was a great place to stay during my time in Cork.

Yelp
This place was great! The staff was very nice and accommodating. When we first got here they gave us restaurant suggestions that were delicious and the rooms were so cozy! The beds were amazing I never wanted to get out of them!! It's super close to downtown making it an easy walk to pubs and sites. The view from the elevator is also really cool. It sits in a clear glass casing and looks out over the entire town. The bartenders were friendly and helpful. I highly recommend staying here it was lovely and great to come back to after a long day in the cold!

Yelp
The River Lee Hotel is top notch. The rooms are beautifully decorated, the service is excellent, and they have the best bars of soap I have ever encountered in my life. The soap in itself earns my 5-star rating! We booked a package deal and with our package, we got a room on the 5th floor which is the executive floor. If you stay on this floor, you get access to the executive lounge which is nothing special. They have teas and coffees, juice, and a few pastries. It was nice to walk into the lounge, grab an apple and a bottle of water and head out on the town. You also get free parking when staying at the hotel which is very nice. The wifi in the hotel is open access with no password needed. It's fast and reliable - everything wifi should be and better yet, it's free. The breakfast buffet is awesome. A full spread of pastries, fruit, hot food, juices, and so much more. Glorious. The only downfall to this hotel is the actual restaurant food (Weir Bistro and Bar). Terrible, terrible food, however, that is reflected in a separate review.

Yelp
We walked to the hotel for a late night dinner after making it into cork from Dublin . Our bed and breakfast hosts suggested it because it was inexpensive and delicious. It Was both. We actually returned on a second night because sitting out on the patio was so peaceful. On the second night I tried their vegetable curry which was filling and very flavorful! Great atmosphere and great food.

Yelp
Used to live in Cork and we were back in town to go out with friends. We decided to treat ourselves so we stayed at the River Lee Hotel for the night. The staff was great and the hotel was gorgeous. Our room was fantastic and spacious. Really impressed by the fitness area, pool and the spa. Most of all, the hotel bathrooms were amazing. It's definitely one of the nicest places that we've stayed. Next time we return to Cork, we will be back.

Yelp
A very nice hotel for the price. Location was fairly good (had to walk ~6 blocks to get to most of the bars and restaurants). It had a very modern feel and was very clean. We had a great river view (see my photo) and were pleased with the service. Parking in the underground lot was included too.

Yelp
Amazing hotel! Beautiful views, conveniently located, good-sized clean rooms, and the girls at the front desk were all helpful. Oh and free parking! My only complaint was there were no outlets next to the bed/end tables in our room.

Yelp
I travel a ton for business. Although this hotel wouldn't fall into any "best" category; it's not particularly high end or luxurious, but I found it quite warm and welcoming. I thought the combination of good room; good fitness facility; good breakfast; nice walk to restaurants, and the lounge on the executive level came together to add up to more than the sum of the parts. This is the perfect business traveler's hotel.

Yelp
This hotel was MAGNIFICENT. Great rooms/Great staff. Highly highly recommend this hotel. The pool/spa is magnificent. The views of the river and the city from the front side floor to ceiling glass windows is breathtaking. I LOVED Cork and this hotel!

Yelp
I ordered the steak sandwich. It took 20 minutes until someone came and told me there was a problem and it was on its way. I explained I couldn't really wait because I had a conference on upstairs. Another five minutes and I took it to go. I paid for it and was given crisps instead of chips, as stated on the menu. I had to argue the point with two staff members until I showed them the menu. They agreed to bring chips up to the room I was in. Everything was cold and chewy. The chips were all smashed (and curiously seasoned as if from someone else's plate?!) Half the stuff that was supposed to be on the sandwich was missing. Would have sent it back but I was running a conference and wouldn't have had time to eat the replacement. Left half of it. Disgraceful for €15

Yelp
Perfect location to get around without a car. We took the train from Dublin. The hotel is very modern and clean. The reception was great on arrival.

Yelp
Prefer this house to the Clarion as its more modern. Staff is friendly and hotel is pretty clean all around. The location is on the river about 1/2 mile from City Center and close to the university. Lots of university students to and from City Center.

Yelp
The hotel itself looks very modern and nice from the outside, as well as the lobby. However, the rooms are pretty small and don't provide wi-fi. The service also wasn't all that great - was trying to ask the temperature but they weren't very helpful. Not a memorable experience.

Yelp
Went on a package deal I got through my car insurance. 2 nights B&B and 1 evening meal. Ticked all the right boxesl: Friendly, courteous staff; big comfortable rooms & beds; great food at breakfast & dinner, and a nice relaxed vibe overall. Decor is very modern, rooms have speakers in the ceiling, even in the bathroom, and it has great views out over the river. Didn't get to check out the pool or leisure centre, as I forgot my swim shorts, so can't comment on that. One very tiny complaint was that a bottle of sparkling water from the room minibar was €2, but on the final bill was charged at €3.75. I pointed this out and got a bill reprinted, but I wonder how many others have been stung if the prices aren't in sync between the printed list and the computer terminal

Yelp
What a great hotel in the Cork City centre! The front desk people were prompt, helpful, & friendly. We had a room on the 4th floor with a breathtaking view. The room was modern, clean, & comfortable. The rate was reasonable. Underground parking & WiFi are complimentary (free). I would definitely recommend this hotel to a friend.

Yelp
I just spent 2 nights at this hotel with my family during a 12 day trip through Ireland splitting our time between B&B's and hotels, and found this hotel to be the most luxurious that we experienced during our time here. The hotel is modern in appearance with glass elevators and our room included a glass enclosed balcony overlooking the river and the beautiful houses on the hill above. The beds were extremely comfortable and the full Irish breakfast was gourmet quality and cost 17 Euro each if it wasn't purchased upon booking. The staff were quietly professional attending to our needs but not becoming informal in their dealings with us. My only complaints are the pillows they provide were flat and uncomfortable and that they close the pool at 6:30 to children under 16 years old, which included my daughter, a little disappointing on a family vacation. Still, despite despite those issues I still believe the hotel deserves 5 stars.

Yelp
Lovely newer hotel that is fairly conveniently located to downtown. Our room had three single beds which was unusual to us but they were comfortable and the bathroom was spacious and modern.

Yelp
By far the best hotel we stayed at in Ireland! It was spotless! The room was very comfortable and the grounds were beautiful! It was a short walk to town, across the bridge. Parking is free for guests. There is a pool, but its open to residents in the area as well and because of that it was a bit crowded. Other than that it was awesome!
