"Mexican bites, Sydney El Loco does an excellent taco for a fiver. A crunchy tangle of chopped cabbage, coriander, spring onion, and a spiced mayonnaise done in messy zigzags over the lot arrives at our table. Little cubes of "mystery" meat, offal perhaps, are tender and packed with flavour. El Loco’s safer selection of $5 tacos – chicken with sweet corn salsa, chilli marinated tofu, prawn and salsa verde and lemongrass beef, are also good. El Loco is a flip-flop, sand-in-the-shorts kind of place, though it tends to attract a suited or hipster crowd. Mexicana cactus and sunset mural walls suggest tequila is consumed to fit a general festive hot sun vibe, not just to get drunk. For the jalapeno margarita, the barman shakes up a shot each of Herradura Reposado Tequila, Cointreau, roasted jalapeno syrup, lime juice and a wash of Ilegal Mezcal agave with some clunky icecubes, and throws it in a clear plastic cup with some roasted jalapenos. It’s a sweet and acidic muddle of completely awesome. Two in our party get the Excelsior hot dogs ($9) because of ordering envy on a previous visit to El Loco. The foot-long dawg is a grilled pork Frankfurt in an almost-as-long soft bun. Picked jalepenos are hidden in there, and the top is laden with pico de gallo, a fresh finely chopped salsa of tomato, white onion, chilli and lime juice, then it’s squiggled with mayonnaise and so much cheese. Both diners held their bellies while I ordered another taco."

Great place if you are lost on Sophia Street and want to eat late. Nice barman and waitress, good quesabirria, even the doorman is nice. There's a DJ on site, and you can watch the game on TV AND sit on a chair (I'm looking at you, Cock'n Bull in Cairns) while drinking one of the many beers or cocktails they serve. I have no idea if the rooms are nice, but it's comforting to know there's a hotel where you can spend the night if the owner of the Beautiful Sunny Studio you reserved cannot be reached.

El Loco – Foveaux Street (CBD) Very convenient location with easy access to public transport. Ordering system is modern and works well. Unfortunately, the ambience is quite poor — it feels like an old-style pub with limited proper seating and not enough shade, especially on a hot day. Food was very basic and average, nothing memorable. Being right on a busy street with constant buses, cars, and foot traffic makes it noisy and uncomfortable. Only suitable on a mild day; otherwise, I wouldn’t recommend it. There are better options nearby.

Amazing Mexican food, generous portions & great atmosphere. The Birria tacos are an absolute winner. Love the selection of mocktails also.

Great cheap Mexican food in the centre of Surry Hills! One of the first places I checked out after landing in Sydney and still one my faves. Food is pub style text mex, so are drinks! I strongly suggest the frozen margarita and the sangria. Good selection of vegetarian options too. The service is quick and super kind. The atmosphere is very Mexican and colourful.

If you're ever paying a visit, be sure to chat with Luhos (Slovak manager) - he's one dry fella with humour while keeping that straight face. Props to him and the crew for booking us virtually half the area with clear signage while leaving the furniture intact which impressively provides heaps of standing space. Tacos were filling and the room has different light shades to transition from daytime to early evening for live music.

Nice bar/restaraunt. Food is as usual Mexican you can get. Good drawcard that it’s walking distance to central station. Gets a little loud in the back but otherwise good standard bar/food combo.

It is just too expensive, we got margarita jugs, and came filled with ice and half full. For $66 you can fill up to 3 small glasses (not even cocktail glasses). Food is fine, but also in the pricy side.

I visited this place for the first time on the recommendation of an acquaintance. I was very careful because it was my first Mexican dish, but after tasting the dish later, I realized that I had no need to worry. There was a small happening in which bones came out while eating, but the staff was moved once again by acknowledging it and taking it seriously. I promised my staff that I would visit this place again next time. Thank you for serving me good service and good dishes. I think I will highly recommend this place to other acquaintances :)
