The Sunshine Hotel and Suites

We stayed at the Sunshine Suites for a five-night Grand Cayman vacation and think the property is an absolute gem along Seven Mile Beach. Having stayed at the Marriott, Westin, and the old Sunshine Suites before, the new renovated version is terrific and provides a lot of value relative to other properties. The rooms are nicely appointed and the furniture and bathrooms are all totally new. The newly renovated pool opened while we were there and it sounds like the legendary Sunshine Grill will open up in late January/early February. That was the only slight drawback but you’ve always got Legendz/Eats Cafe right around the corner which has great food (and a sports bar) around the clock as well. At least one of the buildings on the property is still undergoing renovations and the fitness center is on its way to being completed as well. We love having access to the Westin property across the street where you can use their beach, pool, order drinks, or whatever and bring it back to your hotel room. It’s also nice having the option of a quieter, smaller pool that Sunshine offers. We’ll be back for sure during our next visit!

Very nice, off the beach option. Newly remodeled. Friendly staff. Easy five minute walk to enjoy the Westin amenities. Highly recommend - the kitchen makes it so convenient!

The new rooms are very nice! Staff are helpful and friendly, and access to the Westin is wonderful! We came during the renovation so no pool, no restaurant, and they were still working on the rooms so things like weatherstripping were underway. Our room had on-and-off issues with having hot water, while our friends had issues with too-hot water. One night, the water was just off. We got upgraded, so our room was great, but our friends couldn’t open their kitchen cabinets while the bathroom door was closed (design flaw!). Housekeeping was good for us, but we didn’t get water each day and friends’ housekeeping was intermittent. I think it is a great option, but would wait until they are done with all the renovations.

Hotel is being renovated. It is close. Opening sometime in 2025. I go there only to the restaurant! They make a killer 1/2 pound blue cheese burger ! A must to try !

I loved almost everything about this property. It was renovated, the AC worked very well and they had ceiling fans in both the living area and bedroom. I was upgraded to a 1 bedroom suite upon arrival. It was updated and very modern. The restaurant and the pool were closed upon arrival but we were allowed to use the pool and beach chairs at the Westin across the street -- less than a 10 minute walk depending on what side of the resort you stayed on. The first room we were given on the 1st floor did not have hot water so we were moved to the 2nd floor where the water was the perfect temperature. The beds were the only downside, they were so HARD, not firm, just hard. Luckily I was tired enough to fall asleep. Again the beach is right across the street and The Eats Cafe/Legendz Bar is also within a short walking distance. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Overall, if I ever come back, I'll be staying here.

We chose this accommodation as we didn’t want a big resort but we wanted access to the water. The resort didn’t disappoint. It is big enough to not feel like an awkward spot tucked away. But it is tucked away and quiet. The pool is fine, we only sat near the pool for meals and didn’t use it for swimming. Others did but there were often seats available. Having access to their sister property The Westin was fantastic. Much more lively at The Westin. Which can be good and bad. The room was good, well kept but nothing special. Price was great.

The Sunshine suites are great value for money. At first glance they are tired and in need of an upgrade, which is happening soon. |The bed is comfy, and the shower is ok (can go hot and cold), air con is good but noisy but the staff are so nice, especially in the Sunshine grill. Breakfast is really good which we had six out of our seven days there. The good thing about this accommodation is, you can get use of the Westin (across the road) facilities and beach area, which we did! Amazing place, and so central. We will visit again.

Very kind staff. Rooms are perfectly standard and were clean upon arrival. We got there before check in, so we headed to the grill onsite. When our room was ready, the staff moved our bags directly into the room which was so kind! The whole place is getting renovated through 2025 so we look forward to seeing all the changes they make to the rooms, pool and grill. The fridge in our room actually broke with 2 nights left in our stay and within an hour they swapped it for a new one. Pretty impressive! We loved our time there and will absolutely stay there again.
