Went for the 4th of July fireworks and the experience was amazing! They had a concert, a long array of food trucks to choose from. Fireworks display at 9:30 pm right after the concert! Definitely a great place for families!

One of my favorite spots in Houston. Eleanor Tinsley Park has the perfect mix of open green spaces, skyline views, and access to trails along Buffalo Bayou. It’s great for walking, running, biking, or just relaxing and enjoying the scenery. The park is always well-maintained, and the vibe is peaceful but still full of life. Whether you’re there for a picnic, a workout, or to catch a sunset, it never disappoints. Definitely a gem in the heart of the city.

My son and I went to Freedom over Texas this year.Our issue was trying to get to the venue, it was blocked off by cops every exit Google Maps sent us to. We ended up going to park at Bagby, then walking 20 min to get to the entry. But once we got there it was cool, lots of food and drinks. They were handing out energy drinks like crazy lol. There were misting stations, inflatable are throwing games balloon animals face painting, concerts, fireworks, good deal. I just felt some of the food vendors were like way too expensive. Plus 4 dollar water. Let that sink in. We found a station that had fesh water free on the way out, albeit I had to buy a 10 buck souvenir cup to pour the water in. But we had fun 😁

Really beautiful park offering some super spectacular views of Houston. Really glad I had the chance to come here. The park is super well maintained and there are many, many people here, giving it a really friendly and positive vibe. I also like its close proximity to downtown and surrounding neighborhoods

Very nice place to chill on the grass and have a beautiful view of the Skyline of Houston. However, be aware of the sprinklers that go off in sections around 9-10 pm YOU WILL GET WET IF YOUR NOT PREPARED FOR IT. But we just laid in the sprinklers. They did have some scooter rentals that showed up in box trucks and you can rent to ride around. That was pretty cool also. I do plan on going back as I found it to be peaceful and relaxing.

Five stars for the view alone. This has to be one of the best views of the Houston skyline. This is a nice, large green space along the bayou in the middle of a large city. The grounds are well maintained. There is is a valleyball court, a covered pavilion, and some sculptures. I explored a little and found a secluded pond area surrounded by trees, running water, and ducks. This is a great spot if you want to get out and touch some grass in the shadow of the great skyscrapers of downtown.

Loveee, felt so unreal to look at this beautiful view. You can see everyone just seeing at the skyline memorizing this moment. Recommend coming here it's one of my favorite parks.

How can you go wrong at the park? Especially on nice, but warm day. How about just adding a fruit flavored ice bar. It really made the day pleasant.

This is hands down one of my favorite spots to view the Houston skyline. On a nice day, Eleanor Tinsley will be PACKED. In addition to the beautiful view, this park has sand volleyball courts and plenty of open space. Many people bring dogs, strictly on-leash, and when the weather is nice, there will be picnics and photo shoots everywhere. I love to take a book and walk my dog here. It's tucked into Buffalo Bayou, pretty close to the Cistern. Street parking is available, with some extra off of Sabine Street, just a short walk from here. Would definitely recommend stopping by, my spirits are always high at this park!

Nice place to enjoy a walk, bike or picnic in nature right in the shadow of downtown Houston.

One if the best parks in Houston in my opinion. Paved trails and a separate one for walkers only that follows beside the river so you don't have to worry about getting run over by a biker, or running over pedestrians on your bike. The path continues pretty far and there is a nice green area where people hang and play sand volleyball under the skyline. You can see the skyline from a bunch of the bridges and can stop to see the police memorial as well. Great views all around!

This review is in regards to Buffalo bayou park, THE most beautiful park in the city. Parking situations depend on the day and time you go. You have parking selections along multiple sides of the park. The perimeter of the park is 4 + miles so it's great for getting a nice walk in. There's plenty to see from volleyball games, picnics, proposals, a dog park, a restaurant off the water, a skate park, and let me not forget the "bat" bridge. I don't think I will ever get tired of coming here, it's one of my happy places in the city.

Large park that I must have passed a millllllion times. I jog around here and still didnt know this was an official park. At any rate, I attended an event here. The event hosted about 1,000-3,000 people (as a guesstimate). I mean this green space near the heart of downtown is huge!!! Large enough to outfit a stage and an AV tent. Please note that events with only a few speakers near the front of the park present an echo in the back of the park, which makes listening not that enjoyable. Just in case you happen to be at any outdoor events at this venue. The Houston Skyline is amazing at night, which makes for great photos. Parking for ET Park is a bit tricky. We took mass transit in, but did notice some parking spots off of Allen Parkway at the entry of the park. But buyer beware moment, there were more than a few police officers swarming around and I couldnt figure out why until I saw the broken glass on the ground. Please be mindful of where you park and what valuables are visible. Either way, Im happy that I now know the name of the park and will most definitely be back!

It was little sketchy in the night with homeless people. It's a big park and good for walk though so I will give 3 starts

Oh Eleanor. Dear, sweet Eleanor. Back in the Fall of 2010, I completely ruined my old lady knees working out on your steep hills. From now on, I'll stick to sliding down that sucker on a giant box. But nonetheless, I still heart you. You've welcomed floods of people for multiple community events, festivals, fire work shows, challenging jogs; and it features a boat launch and a small children's playground, etc. You have one of the best skyline views for a day of fetch with the pup or a solo sesh of yoga ...Houston is lucky to have you. Want more? The good news is that Buffalo Bayou Partnership is working hard to transform ETP - along with the other parks such as Spotts, Allen's Landing, etc. - into a park with much more amenities and attractions. Beautiful park with a view overlooking downtown. Perfect for a picnics and taking your dogs for a walk. Parking is fairly convenient, although you may have to pay at certain times. There is also volleyball court in the area. I would highly recommend going here with your family and friends.

Eleanor Tinsley is the real MVP. Look at it. This beautiful space is SO green, SO clean. I'm here multiple times a week for my wind-down after a Buffalo Bayou run and seriously I could not ask for more. Do your awkward pilates here. Read your books and get some sun. Watch the skater boys. Take a nap. Oh but also check the events schedule because sometimes you'll come here on the weekend all stoked to do you and there's a festival going on and you don't have tickets so it's a bummer.

My family and I love walking the park. There are multiple bike and walk paths on both sides of Buffalo Bayou. Either side you choose you will be able to overlook the bayou and the native Texas grasses the city has planted for our enjoyment. Walking into Houston's historic downtown is the option for the shade seekers like me, offering a windy trail with little hills to get your heart pumping. It is beautiful path that is kept clean. I recommend packing water and snacks, putting on sunscreen, and going to the potty before you head out for this urban experience. Enjoy!

So all these years I've heard of all the festivals and concerts that take place here but never got a chance to check itout. I had made up my mind that this year for the 4th of July I would visit this park and check out the freedom festival to see the fireworks. However, I was given an early opprotunity to check out this park when I heard about the FREE PRESS SUMMER FEST. So I was told this festival was something like Austin City Limits. That to me is a turn off since I don't like that type of music. However, as I looked over the "bands" I saw SLIM THUG and BUN B!!! What an odd group to have in such a music festival. So I decided this would be the event I would come and see. I arrived early around 4 pm as they would be playing at 640. I figured I'd check out the park and watch some of the other bands. Right as we were parking it starts to pour. I'm like AWESOME, this is totally going to be one of those EPIC concerts you see in movies. I had 2 umbrellas in the car one for my gf and I, but I asked if it would be OK just to run in the rain instead? She said sure since even with the umbrellas we would be soaked and dirty anyways, this way one less thing to hold. So after entering and walking around I noticed a huge congengation of people at the top of the hill. So what were they doing? Getting ready to slide down the mudhill of course! It was so much freaking fun, slipping and sliding around in the mud, buzzed, and listening to great music. If you haven't ever been to this park for an event make sure you check it out! BTW the band before slim thug, the stars were great, and the flaming lip's intro was ridiculous.

After my boyfriend and i broke up, he promptly got the cutest puppy on the planet. Tell me that isn't the most unfair thing you've ever heard. Okay okay, so every now and then he still lets me take the puppy out, and you can save your comments on that joke for private messages. (I'm really not complaining or asking for pity, it really is the cutest puppy) So I take him (the puppy, that is) to the "dog area" close to Eleanor Tinsley Park. It's that really low "valley" part, at Montrose and Allen Parkway. It's fun, everyone is so friendly, but people don't pick up after their dogs so beware the poop. It's not a real dog park, so go at your own discretion. The park itself is great. It winds around the bayou, which apparently you can kayak down if you can stand the smell of Houston sewage. There is an awesome skatepark and there is a path for running on your own two feet if you prefer not to fall on your a** or face while skating. There are swings, there are volleyball courts, and stretches of poop-less grass where you can throw around a football. Also, I've missed plenty of passes and no one looks at me with disdain. Close to downtown and it leads to the theatre district, so it's a really surprising and happy escape-from-the-city-within-the-city. And if it's your thing, there are even little stairs that lead to the amusement part at the Aquarium. All-in-all, a very well-rounded park for the middle of Houston, Texas.

I'm starting to like this park the more I go! It's the perfect place to take a walk, jog, or ride a bike on a beautiful day. What's nice is that the sidewalks splits off into both cement and asphalt paths which separates the bikers and people on foot (The park prohibit bikes on the asphalt paths so you don't have to worry about getting ran over if you are on asphalt). I usually just come here to walk during the weekends when I'm not at the gym (or to burn off a greasy meal!!!). You can easily walk a 5K without re-walking the same route which keeps the scenery interesting. Water fountains are found spontaneously every so often which is nice. Not many restrooms though so it's best to do your business before coming here.

I am absolutely in love with Eleanor Tinsley Park! I've been here on multiple occasions when I am in need of a breather after work or just a chill afternoon on a weekend. It is absolutely beautiful when the weather is nice, and it is probably the best place inside the loop to relax with a breathtaking view of the Houston skyline. I took a four mile walk the other day and it was nice and still. Lots of people come here to run, work out, play volleyball (there's a court), walk their dog, etc, just like any other park. The only downside I'd have to say is that I've encountered doggy doo-doo a few times, but it didn't get in my way of enjoying the view and surroundings. This would be the perfect location for a picnic date :) Houston is growing on me, slowly but surely. Even after moving here about a year ago, I've had numerous thoughts of venturing out of this bubble somewhere far to live a life of my own. I think it's pretty safe to say that I'm not going anywhere! Places like these make me fall in love with this city more and more each day.

Every skate kid's dream come true! Open past dusk, well lit, with variety of trick worthy spots as well as a great street track. Dropped into downtown, Tinsley Park is an awesome bonding site with beautiful backdrops. Public bathrooms are clean. Vending machines on site. There are a few guys chaperoning your pre-teen, tweens, teens and young adults keeping everyone in compliance with the helmet laws and safety regs. The vibe here is relaxed with a giant pin in of respect. Respect others space, property and the right to skate freedom is what makes this a unique and special spot!!

I love this park.Freedom over Texas festival was held here in the park! I really love the festival.I was going to volunteer at the 2014 festival. I arrived around 2pm It was too hot.The festival was supposed to start at 4pm.But people were waiting. Many people love this festival.The festival officially started at 4pm! People were coming and coming! However, The festival closed temporary due to thunderstorm. I said, " Please open again!" The festival re-opened around 6pm. I walked around the festival at Eleanor park.Many musicians were singing and people were dancing.But it was still raining.I really worried if we could see fireworks. Around 10pm, I saw something over my head.Fireworks! That was so beautiful.Around 11pm, I left the festival. Just like other events, people praised my hardwork.I really love July fourth every year. Of course, I will be back to Freedom Over Texas Festival at Eleanor. I love America and Eleanor.

Can you say hill workouts? If there's one thing Eleanor does best, it's provide the best steep hills for killer cardio. If you're clumsy, the dozens of railed stairs are also a great aide to an afternoon workout. While Eleanor Tinsley is ideal for working up a sweat, you may want to steer clear if you're looking for a less athletic outing; i.e. a romantic picnic. No shade = RELENTLESS beaming Houston sun. On the bright side, the unobstructed skyline views are a beautiful site to see! Recently, the city has added meters to previously free parking areas, BUT pricing is reasonable at $1 for 3 hours.

Beautiful park that was just recently remodeled and makes a great outing for the whole family. You can rent bikes, picnic or kayak the bayou.

This park is a bit like Camelot. Nothing so grand and it doesn't reappear every five hundred years, rather it's all in the journey to this mildly hidden, hard to get to location. If you drive past it and look at the "pretty from the street/shady from your parking spot" parking lot with accompanying sculpture and landscape, you're going to miss a lush and relaxing cross-section of not-really landscaped Houston with accompanying stretch of Buffalo Bayou. Park your car (preferably in a space with no broken car window glass), lock your valuables in the trunk, and take a peek around. Once you step to the edge, looking into the flood plain, a Camelot-esque Houston park awaits you. Hidden from the passing traffic above ground. Below, there is a sand volleyball court, a playground, lots of green space, picnic tables, a boat launch(?), and a sidewalk for the ambulatory-challenged. The jogging trail with helpful landmark signs winds through here, as well. So, if you're feeling a bit adventurous, you can wander into downtown via bayou walkway, or head in the opposite direction towards St. Thomas. Truly it's not that difficult to find, however it really helps to approach it from Bagby, heading west on Allen Pkwy. If, however, you are attending a fireworks display or Summerfest, you may have to head farther into downtown to park your car, then walk your lunch off in the journey to the park. If you go on a "normal day," park in the lot. Stow any valuables in your trunk and take your phone. I wouldn't say it was dangerous, but I did get a weird, creepy vibe while walking around on one adventure. When I saw the used condom on the ground, I immediately thought, "Well, at least the disgusting litterbugs were safe about the sex."

I really do feel like this is a hidden gem of Houston. The park is surronded by the Buffalo Bayou trail where people run or bike and has a great view of downtown. Also, if you don't mind a little walking you could walk right into downtown if you go under the freeway and over the bridge. I peronsally love to come here to get in my runs and to immerse myself in the beautiful scenery. Be careful of the construction! They make it safe for you to still enjoy the park but I am very clumsy and fell because I thought I was an olympian for a split second. On the other side of the creek there is also a skate park that gets filled but the kids that go there do not disturb the park at all. Parking is also very easy here and there is also parking on the Sabine street after you pass the bridge.

I spent the better part of my young life hating Houston. Its sprawled out. There's nothing to do. Its all commuters. Etc... I moved inside the 610 loop and I did a complete 180. This park has a lot to do with it. I hate that I compare everything cool and awesome to Austin, but I associate it to the laid back, chill, and outdoorsy side of Austin that I love, and it makes me think Houston aint all that bad. Summer fest, Volleyball courts, watching skateboarders fall on their faces, fountains, bike riding trails*, running (I think the total trail is 14 miles), exploring the bayou that runs under and around downtown. This areas got it all. * not your difficult rides, but a little hilly and somewhat muddy on a wet day. If Houston had more of this all over the city there's no doubt in my mind we would be more fit, and probably the 2nd largest city in the US. I know, two completely random statistics, but this park and the other hidden gems inside the loop in Houston are the reason I havent jumped ship and head out for cooler scenes, such as Seattle, Austin, or Mexico City.

I hang out often in the unofficial dog park by Allen Parkway and Montrose. I love the people there and the fact that it's super close to my apartment. The unofficial dog park isn't fenced in, so make sure your dog will listen to you before you let him/her loose in the park. The park runs up to the Bayou and Mochi loves going and taking a dip in the water. She does not smell pleasant afterwards, so I have to wash her off at home. Some of the other dog owners are able to persuade their companions to take a dip in the dandelion fountain just a few steps away and take a quick rinse. There are a lot of regulars that hang around the dog park and they're all really friendly. You'll see a lot of young professionals there and some people who have met their SO there. It's a pretty good place to just meet people (in a non-romantic sense) while your pooch is getting their exercise. I like running the trails around the park. They've done tons of improvements to the area as part of a Parks Project. It's been an amazing transformation over the last year, but I wish they kept some of the natural grass trails instead of replacing everything with concrete. I ended up grabbing some shoes with more cushion to help out my hip and knees. It's made all the difference. I went to FPSF in June and had a great time in the park. There were more people than ever this summer, which made navigating the stages more difficult. It's tough because Allen Parkway is long and narrow and I'd have to traverse the length of the park because I needed to switch from Neptune to Mars pretty often (anyone else thinking Sailor Moon with the stage names? I know they're the planets, but my second thought was literally "Sailor Moon!") For those of you who aren't in walking distance, there are a couple of parking lots situated right off Allen Parkway (eastbound side), but you may have to resort to parking on a side street on the westbound side or off of Sabine. There's a couple of random pull-off spots on the Memorial side, but they're situated awkwardly where you can easily get parked in. There's also a parking lot near one of the Memorial that is relatively cut off with respect to the rest of the park (there's not an easy way to get to the rest of the trails).

Eleanor Tinsley Park is the heart and soul of Buffalo Bayou Park. It has been renovated since most of the reviews were written, so I'd like to give an updated account of what is has to offer now. The highlight of this park is the view of the Houston skyline. No matter what time of the day, it is absolutely magnificent. Sunset is an ideal time to visit because the sun is to your back and Downtown is illuminated. Parking is extremely limited. 10-15 cars can fit in the parking lot max. So if you're coming for an event, I would recommend other options. There are still problems with burglaries on the side streets so use caution. There is a now a shaded area, benches, water fountains and bike racks in the immediate area. The Buffalo Bayou path passes right through this area and is connected to various parks in the area. When not used for festivals or things of that sort, Eleanor Tinsley is a great place to play sports (volleyball, ultimate Frisbee, football, etc). You'll catch a few people hanging out in the area, but most are working out or playing with dogs. I love that Houston has a park like this to offer and I'm even more glad the city invested in restoring it. It's a must-see for visitors from out of town. Grab a bike and explore!

Eleanor Tinsley Park is one of those places in Houston that harbors many good memories. I remember as a kid, riding in the back seat as we drove down Allen Parkway thinking how cool it would be to live next to the park. But then I remembered that my Mom would always point out the projects right across the street and it would knock me back down to reality. Thanks Mom! This park has been host to many great concerts over the years, and has been the spot for Free Press Summer Fest for the last 3 years. I've also done a few charity 5k walk/runs that occur yearly next to Eleanor. It's a great place to really enjoy what Houston has to offer for outdoor recreation. Now when I drive by, there are often people playing Frisbee, walking their dogs, or out for a morning or afternoon jog. There are also a lot of cyclists that like the area, due to the variation in ground slopes. The location and the hills are great for an afternoon lounge, and sometimes you can even catch a nice breeze here in the dead heat of a Houston summer!

I love this park. There are so many different views and vibes depending on what part you venture to. My husband and I have a Sunday ritual of going to a park. Sometimes we hike, sometimes we lay on blankets and play games, just depending on the park. At Eleanor, we could do both. It's an odd little mixture of city and nature. We found a cool little place off the beaten path, near the bridge and the bayou where we laid a blanket down and hung out under the shade of a few trees. It was lush with life and so relaxing in that little meadow. When we grew tired of that, we took a little hike down through the woods and then up to the side of the street. We saw the city and it was breathtaking. We also saw some cool sculptures and some awesome bike riding trails. This park is pretty cool.

Great place to walk with your love ones and your dogs. My hubby and I come here often to get fresh air. This is located on Allen Parkway. During the daytime, there aren't many joggers out here so it doesn't get crowed and you have room to walk or run like other running trails. I like how they are remodeling the park and planting new trees. Great place to go for a picnic too.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. I have been looking for an open area such as this for a while in Houston. I love the outdoors as well as city life and this gives a pretty good balance. There is trail for running or bike riding but my favorite part, the main reason I go to this park, is the sand volleyball court. Its so fun! I have lived in Houston my whole life and here's a fun fact that I just learned from going to this park, there is a boat that can take tourists around Houston! pretty nifty.

Love this park , I come to it after work and run up and down the hill. I also bring my son out to just run around because he loves the outdoors. I love all the upgrades and I love the view of the skyline

July 4th event was lots of fun! However, I wish they would have cut the grass before the event. Grass bugs were everywhere . Of course finding a place to park was not easy and trying to leaving out was worse. The important part is we had a good time.

My experiences here are pretty good here. Saw my first concert here when I was a kid, The Beach Boys, back in the early 90s. It was one of those free concerts as part of a 4th of July Celebration...the Blue Angels flew across the skies with all the proper bells and whistles Houston has to offer. I usually find myself here during 5K fun run events as I walk along Allen Parkway (notice I say walk during a fun "run"). Sprawling out from the furthest end of Memorial Park east into Downtown the planning of the park is really well done. I used to work off Waugh & Memorial and was lucky to have Elanor Tinsley Park as a view. There are random artsy sculptures and other points of interest like sculptures and fountains along the way. Maybe it is to spice up the trail? It smells sporadically along the park...possibly the by product of the bayou and all that mess. Sometimes I fear falling into Buffalo Bayou. Eh...

Favorite place in Houston. I live in Amli memorial heights so this is pretty much my backyard. I run here about 3 times a week. I love that they are remodeling it but I'm worried it will become really popular and won't be as quaint as it currently is. I love this place!

There's a lot of things to see and do at these parks. I believe that there's three parks here that interconnect with each other. There's a few miles stretch to the whole thing. I have to admit that this area in general is probably the best place to be in, in downtown. They've invested a lot of money in making the parks look nice and appealing. I can go ahead and brand this one of my favorite places to go to in Houston. You get a whole view of the sky scrapers in downtown. It's one of those "see to believe" kinda places. If you're in town you must come to these parks to bike or walk around even. It's peaceful to say the least.

My favorite park in Houston. This place is really good for late night jogs. There's also a B-Cycle Station if you want to take a bike ride.

I love going to this park because you can take nice pictures of the Houston skyline from here. Parking here is easy to find but don't rely on the parking lots they have because they are always full and those park employees on their bikes are quick to tell you not to make your own parking spot even though I was just trying to get out of there.

This is such a great resource for Houston, and my Midtown neighborhood! I love riding my bike through the park, walking the dog, hanging out, in addition to the awesome concerts and festivals that are held there. Truly a still-probably-underappreciated awesome aspect to our city that is only getting better every day!

After moving to Houston from Arlington, TX, I lamented the loss of my rolling hills, beautiful, old trees, and sprawling parks...That is, until I discovered Eleanor Tinsley. My relationship with Houston was rocky in the beginning. I found the rambling city to be ugly and unattractive with it's random assortment of houses and bars and haphazardly placed businesses. The cement swamp was completely unappealing to me and I longed to return to the comforts of DFW and, what I considered to be, one of the prettiest skylines in the United States. Slowly though, things began to change. Different aspects of the city caused me to fall in love with Houston, Eleanor Tinsley Park sealed the deal. Parking for the park is practically non-existent on the weekends and it's terribly crowded, however, the weekdays are perfectly pleasant. My boyfriend and I love to bring a blanket and a couple of books and just lay out in the sun. The view of downtown is absolutely beautiful and there's just something about the park that makes me forget that I live in a metropolitan area. There's also something about the park that transforms my normally lazy and curmudgeonly old dachshund into a puppy again. If we go to any other park he'll sniff around and mark a few spots before settling into my lap and going to sleep, however, when we go to Eleanor Tinsley, something in him changes. He loves to run and roll around in the grass, fetch sticks, and explore down by the bayou. We usually let him and our other two dogs roam around off leash as do many dog owners here, and while I've heard some complaints about people not cleaning up after their pets, I've never encountered that problem here. If you find yourself with a free afternoon one day, I strongly suggest spending an hour or two out at the park, even if it is just to watch the skateboarders fall on their faces. I've seen folks enjoying afternoon picnics and there is a beach volleyball court and a playground for children. Trust me, you won't regret it.

Houston has done a fantastic job in renovating its parks and this is a great example. Lots of trails, bike and running. There's running specific trails that bikers can't go on. There's a dog park at Allen Parkway and Montrose.

Meh. its clean enough and you can tell that the city put some effort into it. However, it still feels empty and abandoned and in a weird part of Houston. No families pushing strollers. No picnickers... the weather in Houston is rarely nice so its hard to appreciate the outdoors here.

Where does everyone park here? It seems to me that there's only one parking lot. I want to have an event here but I'm afraid parking is terrible. Is there other options?

Nice trails to the water way. Good place to bring your dogs and just relax.

Fun place to walk around with your Dog! There is a lot of construction going on near the water but the lights are gorgeous at night!

Great for FPSF, but I really can't see going there any other time. I am comparing this to Zilker or Pease Parks in Austin, so take it in context.
