I recently visited Gettó Gulyás and had a mixed experience, with some positive aspects but also notable disappointments. I tried the Hungarian Goulash 'Alföldi' Style with Sourdough Bread, which was delicious—the meat was tender and cut into small pieces, and I really enjoyed it a lot. It wasn't spicy at all, which suited me fine, though those looking for heat might want to ask for extra paprika on the side. The portion was on the smaller side, bordering on mediocre, but the quality made up for it. The assorted pickles were okay, with some being spicy (like the stuffed pepper). The Roasted Bone Marrow with Toast was okay but didn't live up to the hype I've heard from others. It was enjoyable enough, but not as exceptional as expected. Overall, the food was good, and the goulash stood out as particularly excellent. The waitstaff were respectful. One major disappointment, though, was at the end when we asked for the bill—the waiter added a 12% tip automatically without asking or mentioning it. I don't think that's appropriate; tips should be optional and based on the customer's discretion, not added silently. It left a sour note on an otherwise pleasant dinner.

Our tour guide recommended this Hungarian restaurant. It is a 30+ min walk from our hotel but the quality of the food and the over all experience is absolutely worth it! We ordered the fish stew and a duck confit. The fish soup was delicious with chunks of catfish. The duck confit with apple/walnut sauce, accompanied by three artfully placed meshed potatoes, not only was the dish eye appealing but also was very tasty. The friendly bar tender lady also served us a complementary appetizer of duck liver pate with sourdough bread, that made us felt very welcomed. The atmosphere was very pleasant. The food quality was very good. Price was reasonable. Over all, a very good value. We love the restaurant and the food! We will definitely return the next time we are in Budapest.

A true gem in Budapest! I had an exceptional experience at this restaurant — the kind that stays with you long after the meal is over. The service was warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly, making us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. The food was simply outstanding. Every dish was beautifully presented and full of rich, memorable flavors. It’s clear that a lot of care and skill go into the menu, and it shows in every bite. The atmosphere was just as impressive: cozy, stylish, and full of charm. Whether you’re looking for a relaxed dinner or a special night out, this place hits all the right notes. Overall, a fantastic dining experience. Truly a hidden gem in Budapest — highly recommended!

We had a great experience thanks to our waiter, Barnus, who took excellent care of us throughout the meal. He was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was amazing the duck was especially delicious, full of flavor and perfectly cooked. We also loved the Hungarian pancake, which was a wonderful and authentic touch. Highly recommended! Days after we returned and we had the same experience with Laci, thanks!

A beautiful restaurant that serve authentic Hungarian dishes. We had the Goulash, Beef Stew and Lamb Paprikash. The goulash was delicious. Both the beef and lamb were very tender. However, both dishes were a bit too salty for our taste though it is not the fault of the restaurant. The service staff was very friendly.

We made a reservation to dine here the day before and it turned out to be a great decision. The food was delicious (we had 5 different dishes + dessert and were happy with each single dish!), the service was super charming and attentive (Thank you Luis!) and the atmosphere was great. Definitely worth a visit! I’d recommend making a reservation, the restaurant filled up quickly and people had to wait in line. If you don’t manage to make a reservation though, it’s worth the wait!

We had such a great experience here! The Báránypaprikás and Borjúpaprikás were absolutely delicious. The meat was perfectly tender (lamb especially, veal a little bit less) and full of flavor. The food came out quickly, and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. We booked our table online two days before, and everything went smoothly. Definitely recommend checking this place out!

We found recommendations of this place on Internet and reading the customer reviews we decided to include it as one of the highlighted restaurants during our short vacation to Budapest. We had the Chicken Paprikash and the Beef Stew in Red Wine accompanied by a cucumber salad with sour cream and paprika dressing. DELICIOUS!! The environment and the restaurant were cozy and the staff is very professional. I recommend to book online as the place gets busy even on weekdays. Prices are very reasonable. Expect around 60€-70€ for a couple (starter, two mains, drinks and dessert). I definitely recommend this place for typical and delicious Hungarian food.
