Hauser & Wirth

I had the pleasure of viewing Camille Henrot's show "A Number of Things" and Catherine Goodman's "Silent Music" at Hauser & Wirth. The staff were welcoming and knowledgable. The work and space were both exciting and complemented each other well. Camille's work brought a sense of wit and play to the space that kept me engaged in the experience immediately. I can't wait to go back and see future shows here.

Amazing gallery with great curation. Was lucky enough to stumble upon Louise Bourgeois' "Gathering wool" Exhibition. Definitely worth stopping by. So many galleries on this road, its very much worth a stop if you love art and exhibitions.

Have seen some very interesting exhibits here as recommended by others. Love that it's free and staff is very friendly.

Not the kind of place that screams for attention—but the kind you remember. 5 floors, 3 open to visitors, and every corner feels like a quiet conversation between you and the art. If you’re in Chelsea, stop by. It might just become your favorite hidden moment of the day.

One of two Chelsea outposts of the great Hauser & Wirth gallery. The exhibition on David Smith's late sculptures was an eye opener if you are used to his "standard" sculptures in shiny bare steel. These late sculptures are a lot more experimental than I would have expected in terms of forms and colors. The 5th floor skylit gallery is a great space for these sculptures. The building was designed by Selldorf Architects whose other New York projects include the Neue Galerie, the Frick Collection renovation, and One Domino Square in Williamsburg. I especially like the staircase.

Full disclosure. I didn’t actually drink any of the coffee here. We just came in and found that the place was extremely quaint and interesting. They sell books and there’s a coffee shop in the back. Very eclectic and very interesting. Check out my pictures. The next time we are by this area I will definitely drop by look at the books and have some other coffee and treats.

I think this gallery is one of my favorites in Chelsea. Every time I visit, it evokes a different feeling - whether it’s fascination, surprise, or even dislike. No matter what, I always leave with a reaction, and that’s what keeps me coming back.

Another of those little "trippy" interactive art exhibitions locally; pretty much makes visitors connect over the displays; staff either is/was involved in various "arts", as well, leading to interesting chats featuring some of them occasionally 😎
