Amazing food! Where do you even start? Everything we ordered was great! All of our dishes were flavorful and cooled to perfection. The staff was helpful to guide us through the menu and give us suggestions.Can't wait to visit again!

This place is great. I enjoyed a late lunch with a friend. The service was good and food came out fast! I will definitely be visiting again.

I ordered the egg foo young and asked them to replace the shrimp and chicken with tofu. They did remove the shrimp and chicken. But they put the tofu on the side which was weird. And the wasteful amount of soy sauce they gave away for two entrees is wild. Overpriced dish but maybe they charged me for the soy sauce 😆. Prices are too high. Probably won’t go back but it was just ok.

I had high hopes for Baoding but unfortunately it is a huge letdown. I do have to give credit to my server…she was awesome! That’s where it stops. The steamed dumplings were ok but the main course? Terrible! Fried rice that pretty much isn’t fried and whereas the beef? I was able to pull Out the protein and eat it in two spoons. Egg Foo Young, forget it. A giant salt bomb. I’ve been enjoying egg foo young since I was 6 years old. I asked the guy delivering it what the heck was it and why was it covered in gravy already. He just spouts at me “That’s how egg foo young always served” Hey dude…BS The server said she would remove it from my check (which she did) but not one manager came to the table to ask questions or offer solutions. Therefore I will finish with…this is a pretentious restaurant masquerading as a Chinese restaurant. Skip this place. Oh more thing…Peking duck is served as breast leg and thigh bone in the leg…not here

Looking for a place to eat the other night and stumbled onto this place. Started with vegetable egg rolls which were great. I had the chicken sesame which was really good, not too sweet like some. My wife had sweet and sour pork and enjoyed it. Service was really good.

Got the general tsao chicken and was disappointed it was more breading than chicken. And the veggies were uncooked carrots and broccoli that they just threw on the plate. I ended up removing them. I asked for extra spicy and the dish wasn't even a bit spicy. The egg drop soup was lacking in flavor.

This is an authentic Chinese/Asian restaurant. They will customize ordersvto your specifications and can make dishes that, perhaps, you liked while in Asia. They will listen to your description of the dish, figure out what it is and make it for you. Very impressive and will generate a very grateful customer and a big tip.

Wow! Boading is incredible. Easy to see why they've been around for over 30 years. The service was easily the fastest I've ever had! The dumplings were amazing and large! Tons of meat in them and perfect temperature. The Beef Chow Foon was also so good and flavorful. TONS of beef included and a large portion that doesn't break the bank. Highly recommend and I will be back.

This is the best Chinese food I've had in Charlotte. The tangerine beef is insanely crispy and delicious. The lettuce wraps have amazing flavor, and the sesame chicken is delicious. The service was fast, and everything was perfectly cooked. We frequent this place, as it's never missed the mark.

I'm from New York, the home of amazing Chinese food. This gem in Charlotte is better than any Chinese restaurant I've ever had in the Big Apple, or its vicinity. Highly recommend starting with the Szechuan wonton's. They've got a nice mild spice, finished in delicious peanut sauce. The star of the show is the shredded beef. Tender, flavorful, sweet, spicy, NO NOTES! (Not to mention a friendly staff despite a packed restaurant). Can't wait to go back. A+++++.

I went here with Ben for lunch on a Tuesday. Parking was chaotic because they are resurfacing the asphalt. Ben has been here many times & recommended the Kung Pao chicken. I got a spring roll for an appetizer which was so tiny, it was gone in 3 bites. I had the House Fried Rice special which comes with chicken, shrimp & pork. It was huge! A ton of rice so I got a 'to go' box. It was all OK. Very disappointing service since it was not even a little busy.

I want to start off by saying that we were rushed to order. There was no conversation with the waitress at all except "are you ready to order?" Yes, we placed our order. Secondly, I went to use the bathroom, and while I was waiting for a stall, an employee came out of the bathroom stall and did not washher hands, walked right out to the dining room. Regardless of anything, if you go to a bathroom, you wash your hands. That is just not good at all. I will not be back. A restaurant that doesn't set cleanliness as a standard practice does not get my business.

Best in town - you won't be disappointed!! Be sure to try the crispy beef and the beef fried rice.

Baoding used to be "my" spot for Chinese food when we first moved to Charlotte about 20 years ago. I was excited to take our sons to a former staple on my dining out list. I was disappointed today because this place isn't the same as it once was. The food was just mediocre and the restaurant might not have been remodeled since I was last here.

It's not the great Baoding of the 2000's, but it's still the best Chinese on the block, in Southpark.

Stopped in here for lunch while in the area and had a great experience. Food and service were lightning fast, and I loved the dumplings, cashew chicken, and fried rice we ordered. Everything was hot and fresh, plus the portions are massive. It was super busy during lunch, but I was able to sit at the bar and be served right away. Cool decor and friendly service too. Nothing to not love here!

The only place I can get the Beijing Duck with bao and wrapper. Delicious! Good authentic Chinese cuisine!

Dinner at Baoding was very enjoyable. We had cocktails, veggie rolls, and sesame chicken.the portions are large and shareable (and still took home leftovers). Maye was our server and she had the best smile. She was very good to make suggestions. We will come back when we are in Charlotte again.

This has become one of our favorite restaurants in Charlotte. The food is scrumptious, and the staff is so friendly and welcoming. My favorite dish is the Three Glass Chicken, it is a must do, at least weekly for me You must try Baoding out, if you haven't already. I know you won't be disappointed!

Great neighborhood. Food was delicious! Very fresh tasting and came out soooo fast! Our waitress was friendly and service staff from the entrance to exit was very kind. Overall experience was great. Clean restaurant and bathrooms. Will definitely go back again.

Pleasantly surprised, by several things actually. How have I never heard of this place? And, the food was really good. And served really quickly. Not a huge place but I think I liked that about it. Has an intimate feel. I ordered the Lo Mein with Shrimp and Chicken. Cooked really well, and again, really quickly. Pricing was about average for what you would find for Chinese food. The server(s) were very polite and engaging. We were greeted immediately, which is something I always pay attention to, especially around peak meal times. I would definitely recommend saving a visit for them!

Everything was great and the service was very good. We went as a part of a CLT Asian Eats meetup so we came with a pretty large group. The food was great and the Happy Buddha beer is a great compliment to the food.

The Asian food at Baoding is fantastic! All the dishes that I've had has been fresh and seasoned just right. The portions are good, too! I like the way the fried rice is prepared and the vegetarian spicy okra is delicious! I've not dined in at the restaurant, but I've picked up orders and the restaurant is spacious and inviting.

I like prefacing my reviews with anything I believe might color my opinion one way or the other. So in the spirit of honesty I want to note that I have eaten at Baoding or had Baoding takeout countless times since it opened. Our rehearsal dinner was there. It's a family favorite. It's a SouthPark staple. Still, I decided to review it at last with eyes wide open and as unbiased as possible. We met two friends there and collectively had four appetizers (chilled cucumbers, vegetable dumplings, seaweed salad, and fried string beans) and four main courses (pineapple fried rice, shrimp chow foon, Singaporean rice noodles and mapo tofu). Yes, lots of veggies and lots of leftovers. I have had every one of those dishes in the past and while the seasonings change somewhat depending on the chef, the basic tastes remain the same and the quality is still high...with one notable exception, and I admit I was so disappointed about it I almost knocked off a star! The chilled cucumbers used to be this tantalizing mix of heat from Chinese red peppers, chill from the cucumber slices and a vague sweetness from the brine. But not a single pepper was in sight. I miss the old chilled cucumbers almost as much as the long-gone and much-lamented scallion pancakes. But that's me, and they were still good, so no points off for good food that had changed since last I ate it. Happily, the mapo tofu (my choice of entree) was fabulous, as were other appetizers and entrees (especially the fried rice, best in town) and our waiter, who must have a side job as a stand-up comic, was incredible. What a terrific evening. Is Baoding a perfect Chinese restaurant? No. Like virtually every Asian restaurant in the south, Baoding has modified its offerings to accommodate American tastes in order to survive. So what? Baoding remains a solid place to go for a nice lunch, a family supper, a date night with drinks, takeout on the weekends...because the food, across the years, the service across the years, the experience across the years, is excellent. Long may it reign. But seriously...a few peppers in the chilled cucumbers? For me.

So, this place goes from an all time high to all time low. How can that be? One day it's the best Chinese food around, the next three meals later and it's still not good. I'll be giving them some time before I come back.

I really enjoyed this place. The food is tasty and the staff are extremely pleasant. I honestly got caught up talking, but I had the grilled dumplings and general tso's chicken with white rice. Everything was really great. I forgot to take pics of the food, sorry, lol. Oh, and the sweet tea is just right!! I'll be back for sure!

Owner is very friendly. I love the bar area where I can watch my sports. (You may even see a professional athlete waiting for their take-out. They have a very efficient take-out area with LOTS of take-out going out on the side of the bar.). I like the Baoding duck (no bones!!). Will be frequenting here.

We had a catered office party and Baoding brought in the goods! The order was completed at the time we agreed on which was greatly appreciated by the hungry collection of locals and travelers visiting our Charlotte, NC office. Big hit items were the Beef and Broccoli as well as the Sesame Chicken. I'm not into Tofu personally but rumor had it the Thai Curry Tofu was a hit amongst that crowd.

Way too hyped up for mediocre food... I've had better asian food at a fast food chinese place. Not impressed here.

So..we went to grab a quick bite at Pf's xxxxx, however the electricity was out so we ended up at Baoding's for the first time. First let me say thank you to Pf's. if they had been open we would have never found Baodings. Secondly, Im thankful we found an authentic Chinese restaurant in NC. As mentioned in some of my previous post Im from California and I'm constantly chasing the excellent cuisine. We ordered the lettuce wraps, dumplings, chow foon, orange chicken, and another noodle dish. Everything was fresh and flavorful. I also order the house cosmo which was superb. The service from start to finish was excellent as well. Highly recommended.

Consistently good chinese food -lots of choices and large portions. What makes Baoding a standout in CLT?...The staff and ambience. Its like going back in time to the 60s -with huge bar, tables and booths, mirrors -excellent service with experienced servers. Its our goto for dining in house vs takeout. Have eaten here many times over the last 4 years and never disappointed.

The restaurant is very attractive but the food, in my opinion, is quite average. Have been there on and off over the years and sometimes it's better than others. This time, it was a takeout order- food came out very promptly as they were not too busy. Staff was friendly. -Moo Shu pork- best of the three dishes -Pork dumplings- got both pan fried and steamed. The pan fried ones were not at all crispy- not cooked properly -Hunan chicken- small quantity of bland food; little flavor and not a hint of spice The main dishes at $19 and $20 should have been far better. I don't expect to return anytime soon.

If you're looking for good traditional (not hipster) Chinese food in Charlotte, this is where you go. It has a lot of energy, the service is good, and the food is strong. Atmosphere is also good, and if you look closely, it maybe used to be a nightclub because it looks like there is something that used to be a DJ Booth in back corner. For food... At first it seems a little ridiculous to spend $7 on cucumbers but it's worth it. A little stronger on the seasoning and it would be a 10 for an appetizer. The Wonton Soup is excellent, but you might need to order two servings if you can eat. The Pork Lo Mein is highly appetizing. You will ask yourself if you love it and then realize it's all gone. The General Tso's Chicken is good. I wouldn't say amazing. I didn't have any Sesame Shrimp, but apparently it needs salt. Either that or it has too much salt. Not sure which. The beer is good. Nice and cold in a clean glass other than a fingerprint or two (like at any traditional Chinese restaurant).

Fantastic food. We had sweet and sour chicken, general tsaos chicken, szechuan chicken, house fried rice and dry fried beef. Service was great and we got seated immediately with a party of 10.

Great service and atmosphere. Ordered duck, green beans with pork, moo shu, and crispy beef to share family style. The beef had a nice kick and not overwhelming. Table loved the green beans too.

We were heading out and needed food and were in the area so we ordered take-out at Baoding. It's a place that we have been meaning to try because it comes highly recommended. It was on our way, so we called in the order beforehand. We had the crispy duck with pancakes, sesame chicken, and a steamed shrimp dish. The food was hot, fresh, above average for Charlotte Chinese food, but not the best in town. The pick-up station was easy to find and get in and out of quickly. The parking lot however was another story. Every time we are in that parking lot it is always a nightmare. It doesn't matter what time of day you go through, you have to circle at least twice to get a parking space. So if you doing take-out, drop them off at the door and circle until they come out with some hot food!

Earlier this week, I was craving Chow Fun, so I ended up here for a super-late lunch... Well, first of all, the place looked great. Think they might have renovated their booths? Can't believe how long this place has been around...and great to see it's still doing good business. Now that I started with the positive, I have to be honest. As much as I'd love to drop 5 stars on this age-old establishment that I actually liked (like?), my latest lunch experience was below average at best. I ordered their version of Chow Fun (labeled Chow "Foon" on the menu...not sure if that's another correct version or wrong spelling on the menu??) ...House Chow Fun, which came with a mix of meats. Well, sadly, this dish was utterly tasteless. There was zero flavor to the dish! In fact, I think it's the blandest Chow Fun I've ever had! I had to pour some Soy Sauce from the table to make it edible...but even so, just tasted BLAH. Also, I ordered Seaweed Salad on the side, and there just wasn't much of it. Half of it was some white radish and carrots...as if they were compensating for not having enough Seaweed Salad (??). Not sure what I thought about that either. I wanted to have the waiter/waitress bring it back and spice it up more...but the thing is the waiter/waitress never came! Not sure if it was the waiter or the manger, but he didn't stop by my table to check on anything until around the time I was basically done, and ready to pay my bill. I basically gave up waiting to return the dish. Same with the water service. It never came...until around the time I was actually paying for the bill. Talk about delayed lip service! In short, the service was horrible...on top of the dish being beyond bland. As much as I like this restaurant, seems that for me, something is always off...if not the food, the service, or just something! I almost gave this a 1 star review for this latest lunch experience (bad food + bad service!!), but I stopped myself since I've had some good-to-great dining experiences here in the past. Hopefully next time things will be better?

I'm a big American Chinese food lover and it has been difficulty finding a good chinese spot in charlotte. I will say this place is consistent and good. The food is fresh, the service is hot- if you're looking for a spot, this is your place!

I got takeout from this spot yesterday on a spontaneous vibe because I was CRAVING good Asian food and this had been recommended to me by a colleague. I got Singaporean mei fun noodles, my staple Chinese go-to, and it was the best I've ever had. The chicken and shrimp were perfectly cooked and packed with flavor, and the portion was plentiful. I enjoyed it so much and would absolutely get takeout again. The inside was a nice vibe and I can see having a cute friend or dinner date there.

The food is the best! Me and my friend eat here when we want good Chinese food. The atmosphere is very friendly and warming .

I am having the hardest time finding a Chinese restaurant that has good tasting chicken. I hoped this would be it but it is the same as everywhere else.

This place looks so cool. The vibes are awesome. The drinks were delicious and totally instagram worthy. The food was top tier, the portions were big but the food was so good I'm not mad at it. The waitress was super sweet and fast, very receptive to us! Also I have a shellfish allergy and they handled it very well with no issues! I recommend the chicken lo mein!

Steamers is great with shrimp or scallops! Best service ever. Lots of options. Quite atmosphere! One of our favorite Asian choices.

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in Charlotte and one of my favorite overall in town as well. I work down the street and probably pickup food for dinner about once a week. The service is great and they prepare your order super quickly. The restaurant and bar area are nice and luckily for me even when you get food to go the quality is still good and the food is still hot when you get home. We have tried many of the items on the menu but my absolute favorite is the tangerine chicken. I could probably eat it every single day. It is a great combination of spices and flavors. Everything is good but this is my go to and favorite item on the menu.

Great food and service was quick and plenty of checking in to see if we needed anything. My dinner was super tasty, will definitely go back next time I'm in town. Pricing vs. quality and portion size was in line.

One of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Charlotte. It's takeout style Chinese, so don't go looking for authentic Chinese food, but it's delicious just the same. I always get the egg foo young (just do it, it's worth it), but the lo mein, chicken and broccoli, and spring/egg rolls are also very good! I wasn't crazy about the fried rice, good but not wowed, or the crispy fish special, a little too sweet, but this is me being critical. Another note, I do eat in because I'm a glutton for punishment and it's too far for takeout, but I would not say they are service oriented. I do often feel rushed to order, rushed to eat, and rushed to pay and leave, but the food makes it worth it. Generous portions too!

Based on other reviews we tried this place. Limited menu, greasy food, inside looks like it needs to be updated. Dark lighting to try and cover that up. Service was attentive.

Have been going to this restaurant since they opened the doors. Have loved coming back over the years for specific meals, foods. Was there recently and I was so upset by the blatant lack of service. We were served food without plates or silverware. I had to run down someone who ended up being in a group of other servers chatting. The guy could have cared less about being polite or that our needs were not being met. Unfortunately, this wasn't the only situation that happened. This makes me sad for the people who have come before and have poured their hearts out in this business. Hope things are restored soon. {(*.*)}

We were in Charlotte shopping and needed to get something to eat. I had not eaten in Baoding in years. I wondered if it was as good as I remembered. The answer came quickly; it was better than I remembered! We will be back soon.

Came here for Chinese New Year and the place was packed! We had a large group but we made a reservation and they were very accommodating with getting us seated together. We ordered family style and got a bunch of dishes for the table to share. At first the service was slow because we had to wait for our party to slowly trickle in and they forgot to assign us a waitress but once we flagged down a waiter, service was great. The food all came out SO fast and the quality was not spared. Favorites were the dumplings, green beans, Beijing duck and chicken broccoli although you can't go wrong with any of the dishes. The drinks were also yummy and fun, the laughing Buddha drink came in a mug of Buddha! Overall a great experience and delicious Chinese food.
