Kondiaronk Belvedere

We visited the Kondiaronk Belvedere, a perfect spot to see the panoramic view of Downtown Montréal, early in the morning 7 AM. We only saw 1 or 2 people today as it was Monday (The working day). It was snowing today and it was perfect to feel the winter vibe and overlooking Winterfell (Montréal) of Quebec. Very beautiful view, quiet and felt cool breeze. The skyline looks amazing covered with white blanket of snow, literally gives GOT Winterfell vibe 😎😊 The lamp-post on both sides of the trail gives a vibe from Narnia. We spend roughly 40-50 mins and then went for a bit walk to the Grand Staircase of Mont Royal. Worth visiting the place. Will visit soon in a different season.

This is a must stop if you are visiting Montreal and a must if you love here! Thos amazing mountain is located in the heart of fhe city. It has many trails to go up and a beautiful lake and skating rink and the belvedère is just breathtaking! Weather you are in great shape or not you can visit this amazing mountain. You can also ho up by car and walk around in vast areas. You can bring your dog 0n a leash, bring your pique nique, bring your bike, your family yourfriends or just yourself. This amazing site will not disappoint. Entrance is free, coffee shop and restrooms are available. This is a perfect outing 365 days a year! Don't miss it!

Great view on Montreal center! We really enjoyed. It had been snowing so the whole area was covered with a white blanket. We took the stairs up and went slow but steady. Squirrels, we have seen a lot. Especially at the top. This place is a must go when visiting Montreal.

Montrealers are proud of their “mountain”, the Mount-Royal. On the Mount, they walk, jog, bicycle, ski, sleigh, skate, smoke, drink, pick-nick, sometimes have s3x, and they pretty much do anything their imagination might wander on. I mean they even get buried on the Mount, as there is a choice of 4 different cemeteries. All in all, whether one is looking at the flowers from beneath or preferably from the top, the beloved mountain serves a much appreciated peaceful and quiet place for soothing the soul, especially under the cover and comfort of Autumn’s colors. As such, it provides an alternative to the ubiquitous fluorescence of the orange construction signs, so typical of any given day in Montreal. Sightseeing at first from the lower east side of the Mount, on Jeanne-Mance Park, you will find a couple of beach volley fields, and pretty often, exciting games and good players. Right cross the Avenue du Parc, you can catch on a warm sunny day the Tam-tams du Mont-Royal, a colorful gathering of drummers, dancers, vendors and their admiring audiences. A stroll near by, on the Olmsted gravel path, will take you through quiet woods and higher on the mount, to Beavers’ Lake (hum-hum, no pun intended)! Pushing up for an extra stretch will take you to the Kondiaronk Belvedere, so to enjoy a splendid view on downtown Montreal, whether by night or by day. From there, you can also give a wink at the St-Lawrence River and the bridges flying above. Standing quite noticeable by the Belvedere, the Chalet is there to welcome guests for a well-earned pause inside the great hall, where the walls bare several drawings, some of questionable historic episodes. If you feel like it, the Café des Amis offers coffee and pastries, although this may strike out the effort for the loss of calories endured during the walk up the mountain. If your knees allow you, a descent from the height of the 339 steps of the Mount-Royal staircase will take you back to the lower Olmsted path. Watch out for the slippery steps, as the flight downward may not be comfortable on landing. Otherwise, a walk to the slightly higher peak of the Mount leads to “the Cross”. The legend says this is exactly where the first French settlers and members of the First Nations signed a peace treaty while sharing the magic tobacco stick; no surprise, right ?! Away at the distance from the cross, there is also a beautiful view on the eastern side of the St-Lawrence River. There is more to explore and do, but I invite the readers to experiment on their own, so to discover the charm and the “joie de vivre” of the mount Montrealers are so proud of.

It’s a long way up there but the view is so amazing. A giant city sleeping covered in snow is so nice. You can take an uber up there as well but the walk is stunning to. Through to streets, up the university up the hill. Great trip.

Marvelous view of the city of Montreal with all the south-shore mountains in the background. It's worth a visit at any time and season. The Chalet offers cold and hot beverages and <Les Amis de la Montagne> provide useful information about the mountain and it's fauna and flora.

Great view of the city and a lovely park. We took Lyft from the old part of town by the river rather than hike up the mountain. The lodge was fascinating with the squirrels in each if the rafters. Food and gifts available.

This terrace offers the best panoramic view of Montréal, overlooking the skyline and the St. Lawrence River. You can reach it by several trails, but one of the most popular starts on Pine Avenue, where you climb a long set of stairs. If you're near Mile End or Mont Royal Avenue and don't feel like hiking, bus 11 westbound drops you right near the top -- from there it's an easy 5-minute walk to the terrace. I visited on a sunny weekday, and while there were plenty of people enjoying the view, it didn't feel crowded. There was still space to relax and take photos. At the terrace, you'll also find a chalet with free public restrooms, seating, and a small café where you can grab a pastry or a drink in the shade. If you're visiting Montréal, this lookout is a must-do. On a clear day, the views are unforgettable.

We came here in the dead of winter, so we thought that the roads would be very icy and cold, thus hard to climb. Yes, the roads were icy, but the path was quite wide, so it was easy to choose places with more snow. Also, there seemed to be a lot different paths that you can choose which is quite fun. The whole thing just felt like a winter wonderland! Climbing to the top for the viewpoint was not bad at all, around 45-minute easy hike with some stairs at the top. The top had some of the most breathtaking views of Montreal downtown allowing you to see the river and McGill. Would highly recommend coming when in Montreal.

The viewpoint up there is called Belvedere Kondiaronk, and it offers fantastic views of downtown Montreal. The beauty of this city is truly a sight to behold, one that you simply don't want to miss. There is no better way to experience all of Montreal, other than to climb to the crown of Mont-Royal. It has an amazing, panoramic view of the Montreal skyline at its main viewpoint, this large observation platform is a great place to start your Montreal itinerary, as it helps you to immediately orient yourself. Imp tip: The best way to reach Belvedere Kondiaronk, is to start at the Grand Staircase of Montreal. Use Google map, there are other ways to get to the viewpoint, but they will take a lot longer as the staircase is the most direct route.

The view is worth the climb, in my opinion. If you're down by McGill or the main shopping area in Montreal, you start your journey walking up a couple of very steep blocks on Rue Peel when you come to a set of stairs. There is also a winding path that we saw bikers and some hikers using, but the stairs are the most direct shot. You'll find plenty of places to stop and catch your breath along the way, but you'll definitely achieve your daily climbing goal if you visit the overlook and you should! Once you get there, you'll see a lovely plaza that provides an amazing panoramic view of the cityscape. There's also a pavilion of sorts that has restrooms and a snack bar so you can get some refreshments to keep you going. The climb back down was fast and easy and almost makes you forget the work you put in climbing up. My friends and I checked our watches/phones to see how much climbing we actually did when we got to the top and it ranged between 26 floors (that was on my friend's iphone) and 40 floors (that was on my Garmin watch). So regardless of how much it actually is, believe me when I say it's a lot.

Great place to hike on the first day of visiting Montreal. The stairs can be steep so take it easy if you need. There's benches to rest along the way. But the effort is worth it for a fantastic view.

Scenic spot in Montreal, Quebec. Accessed by staircase or trail, this broad terrace on leafy Mount Royal offers city & river views. My friends and I took a detour from the entrance of Mont royal park. We walk through walkway small path into the mountain. It was a little bit adventure and my friend afraid to get lost in this mountain. There are some areas sloppily because of rain. We slow down and make sure everyone is following to the group. We didn't have plan to hiking but just wanted to see the view of Montreal city. BUT! when we got to the Kondiaronk Belvedere, we couldn't see the city because it was so much fog. On the way down we just took a normal path and call Uber because we were tired and didn't want to walk anymore.

Very nice view of Montreal City. We took the trail up and let me tell you. Be ready to go up several flights of stairs. Overall lovely experience.
