purebread is somehow simultaneously heaven and hell. the displays are STACKED full of SUCH DELICIOUS LOOKING TREATS but at the same time how does one possibly choose from all of these ?!!? i almost cried trying to decide .
one of my favourites was the chocolate bottom banana. the top was a light, mildly sweet banana bread that had crunchy, slightly dark/bitter chocolate chunks embedded into it THAT I LOVED, and the bottom was kind of like a chocolate pound cake which was a bit dense, not too sweet at all which was nice, and a bit moist.
the savoury treats, like the cheese and herb scone, the bacon cheddar chive scone, and the spinach feta muffin were all really good too. we had them warmed, and the texture was perfect — i feel like the scones were on the PRECIPICE of being dry, but i still thought the inside was perfectly fluffy, buttery, bready, and dense. i also liked the savouriness of the cheese and the freshness/delicious fragrance of the herbs and chives. the pudgie pie, which was generously stuffed with warm, mushy potato and slightly pungent goat cheese, also had a great flaky, soft, doughy croissant crust.
the wintermint cake is probably an acquired taste but i am a mint fanatic and i thought it was yummy. the icing is VERY sweet and had a pretty strong minty flavour, but the same moist, not-too-sweet chocolate pound cake did a good job of balancing it out.
the boozy french apple cake was moist and had really tart, sour-ish apples; the coconut banana loaf slice was a bit dry/hard but the flavour was great and the coconut flakes were nice.
