The Standout Asian Bakeries in NYC

"HARBS in Chelsea might secretly be one of the best places to quietly savor a book alongside a slice of sakura cake and a pot of tea." - E. Alex Jung

One of my favorite spots in the city. Had to bring my mom to try. Service is always amazing. I recommend trying the tea. I love the grape jasmine tea, they make sure it is steeped well. For the cakes, just the simple cheesecake, Mille crepe with fruits or banana is good

High quality Japanese cakes at high prices. I’ve been to Japan many times and this place is very Japanese, with a vibe that might seem strange to New Yorkers. I’ve eaten in here a couple of times and today took out a slice of tasty Irish cream cheesecake for $12. The size of the slice was a little small compared to other cakes I’ve had here and the ones in the case. It’s good quality but for $12 I’d like a little more generous portion.

I went there for Mille Crepe! First of all, I really like how the omelette sandwich tastes. I ordered a lunch set, so I can refill the coffee. After I finished it, a waiter came to confirm if I am ready for the cake. I waited for it like 40 minutes. Then, the cake showed as the photo. The size may be 50% of the regular size. If the cafe has a concern about cost reduction for the lunch set, I suggest they raise the prices. I would still pay to eat the cake! The food was all good. There were not many people during lunchtime which I like it. Again, it would be better if they can improve the time of preparing food.

Love Harbs!! I have to get my birthday cake here every year! Best Japanese bakery around! Every cake is delicious, love the crape milles cake 🍰! They have a great tea selection! Overall great place!

The mille crepes was delicious with a lot of fruits inside, and the cream was pretty light despite its rich flavors. The fruit cocktail herbal tea was not sweetened, so it could be a good match to the cake. However, the team seemed to be less organized, so it wasn’t clear that who would take my order and who was in charge to refill the water, and it could be a bit slow. Overall, the food was good, but the service was just mediocre.

Great last min find. Was not expecting to see the back sitting are. The cakes are a piece of art and the rest of menu looks really yummy! We sat for coffee and cake and was delicious. The open kitchen is great. Place is a little loud due to kids running around and parents chasing them. Also it has a particular energy. However I enjoyed it and probably will not only will be coming back but also I'll be ordering bday cakes from here. IS A MUST!

We love this place a lot! Real tea leaves and fruits in the fruit tea. Everything is cleaned and well served. Ppl are friendly even we are a bit late to be there (half an hour before they close). They try best to serve fast otherwise tea would be too hot to be drunk before we have to leave, lol We also love the menu. Less selection makes better quality! The prices are approximate. The surrounding is comfortable. Wood decoration looks old school but we love it. We will surely come back again.

The type of dessert (cakes) place that don't taste heavy at all. Everything seems well balanced and perfect, visually beautiful, very fresh ingredients and tasted awesome! Service was friendly. Would definitely come back to taste the rest of their selections. Highly recommend their cheesecake and green tea mousses cake. Their royal milk tea cake was good too but didn't like the after taste of the alcohol they use. Lady M royal milk tea cake is better.
