Great store here — one floor and a mezzanine filled with all kinds of office supplies, paper products, gifting supplies, San Francisco merch, and a few snacks by the cash registers. For wheelchair users, there are wide doors, no steps at the entrances, and an elevator to the mezzanine. Also the prices are pretty reasonable.

Very fun store right on Market. I love walking in and looking at all the fun products. It's one of those great gift places that has so many different things. They have everything from tarot cards and puzzles to journals and greeting cards. There is so much to check out! I have had a lot of gifting success here with cute unique presents that you can't find at Target. Love this place!

Swing on in, buy a new pen, get a calendar, how about a nifty new notebook (in any format you can dream of), pick up a box of postcards. You do you and Patrick & Co will be there for you. Remember the days before the digital dreams, wake up and touch something real. Trade some money for something lovely. Nice office supply store in the heart of downtown, with a long history in this city. Sells a wide variety of office and craft supplies, as well as puzzles, cards, and other items.

This store has a bit of an office max look to it, but don’t be fooled! They have a great selection of writing stationery!

I've gone here a few times to look for specific things like binder pockets, specific pens, label stickers, post-it tabs, etc. Love that they carried some binder supplies and folders that were made out of a plant-based plastic material. The staff has been very helpful each time I've been here. They have a wonderfully large selection of stationary goods, notebooks, paper assortments, as well as gifts, gift wrap and supplies, and other miscellaneous things. I truly hope Patrick & Co stays in business forever, as this kind of shop has been a dying breed for a while now and seems to have held out in this era of Amazon and Big-Box corporations. It just feels better to shop here, and their prices aren't super outrageous.

Such a great spot to find stationary, writing utensils, and all of your random office supply needs. The service is fantastic. A lovely small business.

Love Patrick and Co but when loyal customers spend over $60 on stationary, I'm pretty sure a $0.25 regular nothing special paper bag won't kill the bank for your small business. Nickel and diming is so common sometimes but look at it like free marketing. So much to select from here. I love the merchandise here but just wish there was loyalty perks for both parties, for instance: a free paper bag with your logo and free advertising for your small business. Nice to see that stationery stores still exist, with some love to fountain pens and elegant letter-writing supplies like envelopes and papers. Actually, I've noticed that SF seems to have a *lot* of mailboxes. Is that the case, or have I just been out of a city for so long that I forgot how commonplace they are? I did purchase some stationery for letter-writing, and an emergency bottle of fountain pen ink. Not cheap, but love that you can browse the aisles and see stuff in front of you, instead of in front of a screen. It shows signs of aging inside (part of the charm, imo), but please support places like this whenever you can. Someday when it's all gone, it'll be too late. Just wait, you'll see.

Horrific service. They sold a defective product and were extremely resistant to exchanging it. Terrible.

Patrick & Co. is SF treasure. It has an old-school vibe. They are the last independantly owned office supply store offering a wide array of goods, including custom rubber stamps. The greeting card selection is huge, varied and original - no Hallmark here! Loads of pens to choose from. Prices are fair, the staff helpful and friendly. They know where everything is. You can't get this kind of service at a warehouse store. Patrick's deserves our patronage.

I just wanted to say that I have been a Notary Public for many years. The rubber stamp can be a problem in this business. I bought my last one from Patrick and Company. I ended up having a problem getting it re-inked. I complained to them about it and brought it down to them. The very nice people that work there replaced it free of charge. I was very surprised since good costumer service is so hard to find anymore.

Disappointed. One of staff was nice in helping find a blank journal however while walking around, some white guy was following me and staring. I can't know if it was because I'm young or because I'm brown but either way being followed in a store as a woman feels hella messed up. And I know it's sus because he only gave up the pursuit when I was headed to the cash register. I gave the items back and let them know what's up. I will not be shopping there. Hopefully they correct themselves and get better in the future.

Patrick and Co is a jewel of the financial district. They have a wonderful selection of paper, notebooks, greeting cards, Crane stationery, all the best pens, stickers for the kids - everything! Plus an incredible color and style selection of Leuchtturm1917 notebooks -- great for bullet journaling or just general old-fashioned journaling! I always leave Patrick & Co feeling happier than when I arrive. What other office supply store does that for you?!

A man must accessorize thoughtfully. He needn't overdo it, certainly, but he ought be vigilant in his choosing. He ought not put on or carry simply any old thing. I choose carefully my: 1. Socks. 2. Shoes. 3. Unmentionables. 4. Pens. Yesterday before my Important Meeting I realized that I was without my pen. I popped into the Galleria, but all they had was Mont Blanc and while I dig the MB I wasn't up for being relieved of that large a coin. They directed me to Patrick, just down the block. When I entered I was greeted with that lovely smell I enjoy so much. Smells for me tie memories. Something nice must have happened to me in a stationary store, for whenever I visit, I smile. Patrick is old school stationary. Narrow aisles packed with more variety than you'd expect could squeeze in such a small space. I did a lap before heading to Pens just to see, for future reference, what filled the nooks and the crannies. What I saw was what I expected I'd desire, should I find myself before an Important Meeting short a pad, or a marker, or something for a colorful presentation. Two glass cases filled with the pens. Quality writing instruments, reasonable cross-section of selection, reasonable priced. I got me a well-balanced instrument made of metal reptile skin. Pleasant helpful staff. In and out in less than five minutes, suitably equipped.

Been shopping here for decades. Excellent variety of office supplies. The staff is very helpful and friendly.

One time I placed a custom order, and it was ready in less than a day. I was super impressed. Recently I was searching for a specific kind of marker and remembered this place - I had glanced around briefly during my first visit, why not see if they have markers? I am SO glad I came back to browse further. This place is like Christmas morning for art supply nerds. I love the selection and am confident they'll have everything I need for the various projects I'm bound to find myself in. Their personal and friendly service makes me feel so cozy in their mom-and-pop-type atmosphere. Will visit again very soon, I'm sure.

Wow...I thought it would a good gesture to start shopping at a local store vs Amazon. I been here a few others times during the pandemic. I am seeing a pattern when I check out...the woman keeps asking for cash vs using a credit card or Apple Pay. She once told me to try Apple Pay and then said "Oh, it don't work" and then asked for cash. I pushed back and told I am using a credit card. Again this week the same situation...the woman is pushing for cash vs credit card. The machine shows Apple Pay but tells me again it does not work. Get with the times....many of us are not carrying cash to stay safe. Please deal with this situation!

Personalized service, huge selection. One sales rep spent a lot of time helping me select a pen that was perfect for its length, appearance, circumference, and heft. I was so upset when I heard that thieves had raided the place and hoped that Patrick's would not be forced to close--we have so few real San Francisco stores left. My only wish is that they offered products online. I have been disabled from an accident and cannot get to this wonderful store in person.

I would highly recommend Frank O'Brien at Patrick and Company if you need an office space design, sound-proofing for your office or just need a better office chair for your achy back. Frank is honest, caring, hard-working and wonderful to work with. They do a great job with sleek new modern designs that are still warm and very functional. Frank is a superior professional I would recommend to anyone!

Stepping into Patrick's is like stepping back to 1972. I swear, it feels exactly like the stores my mom used to drag me to when I was a kid. Patrick's may run slightly higher in price than, say, Staples, but it feels good to support such a long-running business. They've been there for me through all kinds of workplace emergencies when I've needed fancy paper, 3-ring binders, nametags, place cards, labels, rubber stamps, dry-erase board markers, folders, whatever. Don't let the store's "retro" interior fool you...they've got all the latest things. You'll also find wrapping paper and greeting cards, so skip Walgreens and come here for that. They're great for back-to-school supplies, too. Today I picked up a mini stapler, 2000 staples, 6 erasers, a dozen colored pencils, another dozen graphite pencils and a two-size sharpener for $16 plus tax. Works for me! Bonus tip: See's Candy is a few storefronts down.

This store is jam packed with goodies! In addition to a great assortment of pens, papers and other office supplies, they have a large selection of cards and other stationary items, gift wrap, birthday balloons, and gifts (puzzles, stickers, San Francisco-themed books, a few stuffed animals, etc.) It's a fun store to walk around in and is surprisingly large.

Great selection at reasonable price. Lots of great pens and pencils to choose from! I went to several different places in the downtown area but finally found the notebook I wanted here.

I work around the block and everytime I need a walk I pop into the store and get lost in there. The variety of stationary they have and the product range is incredible. I really like that they have different ranges of the same product. So i can choose what i want based on my budget.

I was looking for a thicker weighted poster board for the Kid's school project. Michael's has really thin poster board - bordering on regular paper weight. I dropped in PatCo to see if they had it. Yup they had the poster board up in the mezzanine area! Their board is much thicker than what the mass retailers offer. i also picked up a pretty purple gel pen from their display. Total for two items is $3 (tax included!). Now that's a bargain! I've been coming here off and on for years. PatCo offers the best service and frankly, their prices are about the same or less than what's offered at Staples.

Great local store that provides unique and practical goods for work and gifts. The management really cares about its customers and are a good team of workers.

They have a great selection of all office supplies that you might need. Their card selection is superb and their staff is nice too. I will definitely keep going back.

Oh my god! Do you have any idea how long I have been looking for a stationery store like this?! Seriously, I was thrilled like a kid when I stumbled upon this shop today. They have such a wonderful variety of all kinds of eclectic and practical stuff you'd want. I particularly loved their huge variety of loose single sheet letter writing papers and envelopes. The best part? So ridiculously affordable even for a student! Skip Papyrus, go here. Their "hand finished" greeting cards are unique and delightful too. To top it all off, the staff is very friendly and laid back.

This place is awesome. If you need office supplies, that is. I like buying for a real store not online. They have never not had what I was looking for.

From the sign outside with its retro-script typography to the location nestled down between banks, Patrick & Co. makes plenty clear they're the type of old-skool office supply store that made American business run throughout the twentieth century prior to the advent of computer-everything and big-box stores. It is to me a great shame and pity to see such stores in many cities fall by the wayside and therefore I'm glad to see Patrick still in the game. And how: in example of their dedication to tradition, consider that the renowned German pen designer Lamy has standard, silver, and gold retailer accounts--the only gold accounts in SF are the Patrick store locations. You can come here for other brands of pens and a couple of the employees are real experts on pens and will most likely be able to help. Bring a broken or fussy $200+ Lamy into a Staples and they'll stare at you like guileless robots and not have a clue. Unlike Mont Blanc, Lamy doesn't field its own brand stores, so you have to find places that actually stock Lamy like Patrick when something goes awry with one. Beyond fine pens, Patrick has all the traditional office items that many offices still require: binders, presentation folders, various filing systems, and labels, oh how they have labels. Especially Avery labels. Now, these are not fun stickers so no need to get too awful excited, but if you need labels you'll be relieved at the least that they actually have what you need. I seriously hope this store never closes nor changes and wish every decent-sized American city had an analog of it.

I had an ancient pen housing, but had no clue how to replace the ink cartridge. Enter Will, the self-described "pen savant." In about one minute (flat) he figured out the right option and I was happily on my way...minus $2.75! Excellent service!

They have everything paper that you could possibly want. Pad refills, post its, index cards in all sizes, and all the pens you can eat! Well, not eat, but try at least. I had lost my favorite pencil, a 1.4 mm lead while it's hard enough to find a pencil with a .9 mm lead.. I've been searching for a replacement for a long time and finally found one here today. You see, I write with a heavy hand, and this pencil will not break no matter how hard I press. You could easily pass this place by, but it's worth a look. You will find something you need, or THINK you need and have to have.

I have walked by this place numerous times, from outside it's not fancy looking, just functional style. A weekend, as my mood was more relaxed and just was just walking by, they already put out 2010 calendars! This year certainly goes by fast and we are already getting to the next! The immediate attraction is the wild parrots in San Francisco. How could you not love that?! I love parrots, and I adore San Francisco for they are both full of character, huggable, and something to entice you every day and night! I also bought the "A Picture-A-Day" wall calendar for Italy! oooOOOooo Italia! Yes I bought 2 2010 calendars wishing I would be able to have double number of days than everyone else! Patrick & Co, like the calendars, has its character and also makes you reminisce the good old school years, the fresh plastic wrapper for the books, clean and slick pen case and folders. And as you probably know, I am a big local fan.

So I need a last minute comp book forum daughter. Sign says store closes at 5:30. It's 5:18. Doors are locked. Young snotty sales assistant is organizing pens and won't open the door. Guess I will go buy overpriced stationary supplies elsewhere. (that said, they do have an amazing collection of items in this store...)

Patrick & Co. is a retro stationer. I would think a specialty store would be more pricey but no. I was looking for Sheaffer rolling ballpoint medium refill. At the big-box stores it costs $5.75 a piece but here at Partrick & Co, my own backyard, it's $2.90. That really says it all. This store is an emporium of office supplies. They carry stuffs Office Depot doesn't, and are cheaper than the big-box stores. I don't like any generic-looking notebook and journal, absolutely hate those 12-pack ballpens lighter than chopsticks. Here at Patrick & Co. you find gel pens by Pentel, Pilot, and Uni-ball, different types of notebooks in different bindings (although they do carry the horrible Mead spirals). You'll be surprised they carry more things than you can imagine. It's a great store, locally owned.

I was here looking for fountain pens, and they have a decent selection (back of the shop, left side, in the cases). The staff weren't super knowledgeable about the items, and they didn't have what I needed, but it's a good shop. Come here if you are looking for Parker, Sheaffer, Cross or Lamy fountain pens. I was looking for a Pelikan, which is what left me disappointed.

I only went in for one thing. I swear. I walked out with 6, and had to use a credit card. I love this place. I love little office things where you pick it up and you don't know what it does immediately, but you have to have it. And stationery that is so beautiful it's a work of art. And stamps. I could color the world with stamped messages. Don't forget to check out the mezzanine as well as the 2nd floor. This IS the Mother Ship of office supplies.

After making some cards of my own, I went out in search of envelopes and ended up here! The moment I walked in, I was greeted by a very nice woman who immediately offered her assistance. I asked her about envelopes and then she instructed me to go upstairs where I would be helped by someone else. I went upstairs (yes, this place is surprisingly big!) and sure enough I was helped by another kind lady. After leading me to look at their selection, she patiently waited for me and then rung me up. All in all, this was such a pleasant and efficient experience. It is truly a hidden gem in the city with a wide selection of office supplies, cards, and all sorts of stationary needs! Plus, everyone is so kind and it definitely gives off a mom and pops store kind of vibe - this makes me even more inclined to support them. I'm so glad I found this place and I'll be sure to come again. :)

Everyone has a happy place they like to go when they're feeling down. Patrick & Co. is my happy place. When lunchtime boredom sets in, this is the best store to just walk around and waste time. They have really cool, random things yet everything an office store should sell. The card selection is fantastic along with the sticker wall which is fun to browse. I have never left this store without having purchased something. My main purchase? The uni-ball(!) micro pen in blue. The only one I'll use. By the way, this is the oldest office supply store in San Francisco so we need to support it. Unfortunately, Patrick's neighbor, Stacey's Bookstore didn't survive (sniff, sniff). So next time, you're bored at work and chatting on Facebook with random people from high school, walk over to Patrick & Company and buy some stuff!

Came here a couple years ago, In search of some decent "not-made-in-China" pens. Well, I will say their pen selection was decent, at first, but as I kept looking (and only finding mediocre and common "fine" pens), I soon realized that their selection was "limited" - for lack of word(s). I then sought out the services of the nearest sales representative, but to no avail. I told him: "I'm looking for your finest, needlepoint pens, preferably Japanese or German made". He was kind and polite, but that was it. He went on to show me average Pilot/Uni-Ball/Pentel .07 mm ( I did say "finest" - less than .05mm)! What's more, they were all conical, and not needlepoint (like I had requested). I did not want to be crass and rude, so I thanked him for his help, but I knew then that this place did not have what I wanted. At last, feeling disappointed, I continued my search, looking for directions to the Maido stationary shop in Japantown. At least there, there is a tea shop next door!

- convenient location by Civic Center muni/bart (don't you dare drive to it though) - very large store with variety of office supplies & stationary - the cashier was friendly but seemed a bit slow and out of it as she couldn't figure out the right refill for the fountain pen i wanted to purchase all in all, a good deal ($29.50 for a new fountain pen & mont blanc cartridges!) and a good location!

This is just a fabulous, well-stocked, go-to store for the majority of your office needs. It also carries a surprising array of household items like key covers, travel equipment, and unique personal gift items. You may even find hard-to-track-down old school or variant sorts of merchandise. Ask yourself, "Just how many types of paper protectors ARE there in the world?!" Help is consistently friendly, never pushy, don't be put off by thick accents. However, I will always love them for having Palamino pencils in stock after my post office lost them and did not give one flying intercourse! And lastly, unlike many San Francisco stores, they frequently have very reasonable prices!

This place is like Super Longs: they have (nearly) everything you didn't even know you needed: graph paper notebooks, pens and pencils galore, handsome certificates if you wanted to make a gag gift for a friend, cards, paper, and random goodies. The upstairs "accordion file" room is life-changing. Do you have an accordion file? No? Where do you keep your "SAVE THIS IN A FIRE" papers? Oh, you keep those in a safe? You are no fun. They will make you a custom stamp or embosser too, if you so desire.

Their online selection is remarkable and the fact that they have the savings listed based on all other major distributors is so helpful!

I spoke to Edna today located at 560 Market Street. She's so sweet and thorough because she gave the cost, size and description to what I was looking for without me needing to ask for the information. Common-sense great customer service! And, I'm writing this yelp review because customer service is about answering the obvious questions attached to a product or any "thing" of interest to the customer. Thank you Ms. Edna!

Having worked at an office supplies store before, I can say this place is a bit pricey. You can definitely find cheaper prices on Amazon, if you can wait for the shipment. That being said, I found what I needed both times I went in and the pen refill section is pretty extensive. If you're downtown and in need of a fix for office supplies, this place isn't bad.

Why all the 4-5 stars . . sentimentalism? Save your time & money and either shop Staples, Office Max/Depo or online. This place is like an over-priced, under-stocked wax museum, where the workers seem to have traveled through time from 1974. OK, fine, the employees are fettered, the inventory over-priced, and "selection" redefines the word . . but it's a local merchant, right? And we should look past the warts and kiss the frog because our cup-o-guilt wouldn't taste the same unless we did, right? lol! The time you spend reading this yarn, and the time it took me to write it, will start paying dividends immediately. 1. I get off BART at Montgomery. I want to get a pencil sharpener. One that works, instead of breaking the lead and making a mess. Note: Yes, pencil sharpener . . I appreciate classic writing implements, paper, notebooks, etc., as much as the next guy/gal - so, Patrick's is a natural . . disaster, yes! 2. I think, "Hey, Patrick's probably has the best selection for some dated thing like this, plus, they're bound to have the coolest, latest one that all the pencil-geeks worship. Looking around, I notice Patrick's has the same selection as any where else . . no awesome Palomino, nothing pencil-geeks would look at in awe. However, since I'm there, and they have an electric one from X-Acto (yes, they make pen-like knives too, red flag #1) for $30 . . what the heck, I'll take it (file under "seemed like a good idea at the time"). 4. Walk 5 blocks to the office. 5. At my desk, discover the sharpener doesn't work. 6. Check everything: Battery orientation of the "+" and "-" marks, ensure the "safety feature" isn't preventing operation, check the "receptacle" cover, etc., all to no avail. The X-acto from Patricks (formerly known as "Hell"), doesn't work. 7. During the time (formerly known as "Lunch"), I walk the 10 block round-trip, but am told to come back later because the manager is at lunch - must be nice! a. (that's right, any of the 8 wax museum look-alikes can take your money, but none can refund it - this is like Hotel California). b. (why not stop by on the way home? They close at 5:30 - the only people that leave the office before 5:30, no longer have jobs). This sick joke gets even ironic, because there's a Staples 2 blocks from my office. I bought a SD card for $80 a month ago, and returned it later that day without question by a kid with tattoos and acne. Patrick's combined employee age exceeds the average tree in Muir Woods, but they can't refund $30 for a broken pencil sharpener either. lol! Don't listen to the sentimentalists. If you want to see Patrick's future, look no further then next door, to the long-closed, boarded up "Grant's Tobacco". . . . chapter 5, chapter 6 . . . lol!

The owners of this supply store are so sweet and helpful! I went in looking for 13 orange 2 pocket folders (very specific I know) and the nice man checked in the back and all over the store for me. They didn't end up having orange so I got gray instead. When I went to check out; he felt so bad that they didn't have exactly what I was looking for so gave me a discount on my order. SO nice!!!! Amazing customer service - I'll definitely be back!

Frankly, I'm surprised to see so many 5 star reviews of this place. The "help" (I hesitate to call them that, since they dont..) is fairly knowledgeable, but getting any info out of them is like pulling whale teeth.. (impossible) To top it off, I went in today looking for a Rhodia Webnotebook and after searching the store I found the rhodia stuff in front (they moved it) and they actually had the notebooks.. But, and this is a HUGE but, they are charging $5 OVER MSRP!!! Asking $25 for a notebook (rhodia competes with Moleskine) is just dumbstupid. The MSRP is $20 and you can get them online for $18.. In an age where the B&M M&P stores are competing with the online vendors, they need to learn that its NOT OK to charge more than MSRP on a product.. Considering that we're in an economic slump and SF/California charges a ton for taxes (yet still can't figure out how to not screw this state up...) its easier to get these online, you can avoid tax and in come cases get free shipping.. Their attitude and high prices are going to kill their company.. And I won't feel the least bit sorry.. I tried to support a local business and walked away feeling like I need a tub of Vaseline after their royal reaming.

This Patrick's has been here forever. It's the one with the gold screen facade. They have everything you would classify as office supply. I buy my pocket calendars here, so that accounts for $10 a year, so do you think maybe they have another customer or two?

Fantastic shop with a great independent feel! I found exactly what I needed (Thank You cards) and the man at the register was very nice. Support the local economy by going to Patrick's! Highly recommend.

Always a pleasant experience at this lovely store. I work at a law firm and our stamp requests are typically rush and custom. The staff at Patrick & Co. have always been very patient and accommodating and understand the client's needs. No request has been too difficult to tackle. Aside from the stellar service with a smile, your inner stationery geek will certainly feel giddy while browsing through their incredible selection of office or school supplies. I dunno know about you but I just love a good pen. And this store had plenty to choose from. Moleskin notebooks, folders in all the colors of the rainbow...I'm so glad the company I work for sends me here! Oh and Sharpies and highlighters in odd random colors you won't find just anywhere. I got a badge holder and clip while I was waiting on my order for a crazy reasonable price. Can't say enough nice things about this store :)
