"We drove up to Point Arena Lighthouse (about an hour and 20 minutes from Sea Ranch) to catch the sunset."

Such a cozy and thoughtful place! The hosts prepared firewood and kindling for the fireplace, and the house had everything we could possibly need. The views are absolutely breathtaking — endless space, the sound of the ocean waves, and that fresh sea breeze. You can just sit for hours watching the sunset and listening to the surf. It’s a wonderful place to relax and recharge — everything you need for a truly cozy weekend.

This is the point Arena lighthouse. There were about 5 cottages, but we did stay there. Ours was a day trip. Love watching the birds, especially the pelicans who were nesting in the large formations around the lighthouse. Love their little museum and gift shop.

Beautiful setting, majestic views. Worth the effort. We drove up from Bodega Bay. The trip up and back was a little scary in some places because of the switchbacks and hairpin turns. Please be careful and let your passengers enjoy the view. I don't think we will ever forget that trip. Just exhilarating and amazing, still buzzing about the views and I bet I make a poster out of one of the pics we took at Point Arena lighthouse. Just a beautiful place.

MAY 2025: Amazing lighthouse tour. In May of 2025, it was $5 per person to enter the grounds, stroll around, and see the gift shop and one-room museum. VERY reasonable! But go the extra mile (if you can manage 100+ steps on a spiral staircase) and tour the top of the lighthouse for the small additional fee of $5 per person. The view from the top was exquisite and the guide gives you a very interesting history of the lighthouse! This is a must-see.

We visited but didn't spend the night. I noticed some semi-aged bungalows on site, so maybe that's an option; not sure. There is a full Fresnel lens on display in the museum, like 6 feet tall. Very cool. Bring a sweatshirt - the wind never pauses!

A bit pricey to visit, having to pay per person to enter then pay to climb up the lighthouse. We chose not to enter and enjoy from the overlook outside the entrance. It was convenient to have a portable potty to use outside the entrance but it needed to be badly serviced and cleaned.

Great visit. Waited TOO long to climb the lighthouse, hardly anyone was there. After 20 minutes, I read info inside, I asked. . . again. The young girl answered while chewing and walking away. She spoke rapidly that I was glad I'd read everything or knew about Fresnel lens. She needs better training. Benjamin, at the top, is a gem! Not an issue for this 63 year old, but know it is a climb to the top, but no rush. You do have to do the too ladder backwards, standard for lighthouses of that construction. Benjamin should conduct the entire tour.

Very scenic and cool lighthouse! You can drive all the way out to the lighthouse and see the lighthouse cat, Mina, in the way in. For additional fee you can go up into the lighthouse and climb up the original staircase. The gift shop and museum is very quirky and cute as well with a lot of history. The docents really gave us a ton of info and we learned a lot!
