"Shopping in the Heart of Oslo Stretching from Oslo Central Station in the East to the Royal Palace in the West, Karl Johans Gate is named after King Karl III Johan, who ruled Norway and Sweden in the 19th century. Along the street you'll find many famous highlights, like the National Theatre, the Parliament, the Royal Palace (the pond of which serves as a skating rink in the winter) Central Station, The Grand Hotel - and of course, plenty of shops. The Bazaar Market (Basarene ved Oslo domkirke) is a particularly colorful place to spend your money. Popular with locals, travelers & gypsies of all sorts, no "must visit" list in Norway would be complete without at least a mention of the venerable Karl Johans Gate plaza."

A lovely main (shopping) street, that is mostly pedestrianised, it is so nice to walk up and down especially at night when it is all light up, the non pedestrian end currently has a Christmas market which is definitely worth a look.

Popular main shopping street stretching from the main station in Oslo basically all the way to the palace passing the Christmas market during the winter months . Full of high end expensive shops. Makes for a picturesque walk early in the morning especially when it’s snowing

A lot of fun at Christmas. A carousel, ferris wheel and many vendors selling interesting food and other items. The Stortinget is there...where the laws get made in Norway.

A beautiful street that you can see all the way across from the Royal Palace. It is also incredible to see the Royal Palace at the top of the hill when seeing it from the other end of the street

This is such a beautiful street in Oslo Norway. We were there during mid November and there a lot of native plants decorated along this street. We especially love this massive roadside plot plant which reminds us of lavender. When the sunset and the sky turn colors, this street is gorgeous to take pictures.

Yup it’s busy. We’ll find other places off the neaten track to better enjoy Oslo.

The most vibrant street leading to Central Station is lined with shops and cafes. This bustling street connects the parliament to the station and is full of people. I highly recommend a visit, especially for Asian tourists; it's a very pleasant walk.
