Shangri-La Chiang Mai

Overall, the stay was fine. The food by the pool was tasty, although the service when trying to find someone to order from was a bit hit and miss. The staff at check in and check out were friendly and welcoming. As a hotel, it feels extremely dated (lots of brown, painted brown wood, dark purple furniture and frills) and rather ‘old school’. It would benefit from an injection of freshness/ modernisation to make it what you would expect from a Shangri-La. The rooms were not particularly clean. Floors didn’t seem to have been cleaned (crisp crumbs, dust and hair bands found on arrival). More pillow options would have been appreciated as the ones provided were very flat. The pool is not ideal if you are looking to relax. The children’s area is not separate from the other areas, so it is difficult to escape the noise. Families may enjoy this setup more.

The hotel is located in a great location, near the night market. Rooms were comfortable, spacious and well-decorated. Bed was a little soft for me, but that's personal preference. The room had some complimentary snacks, and also bottled water. There was a pool, but the water was a bit cold for me, since it was Feb. They do have a health spa which hotel guests can use. The health spa has a jacuzzi and a sauna and the male and female toilets/changing room areas. Staff were very friendly. Sometimes a little slow to respond to requests, but overall, they got things done. Enjoyed my stay.

Stayed here for 7 nights in Feb 2026. The hotel is great. We were celebrating a 40th Birthday, and the hotel provided a complimentary small cake. It was a great gesture. The hotel overall is great and in a great location, walking distance to the daily Night Bazaar. The service at the hotel is exceptional, from a great breakfast to the kids' club and pool area. The only downside was that the pool was ice cold. It would be great to have the pool heated a bit, as it was just too cold to swim or even relax in. As there were 4 of us in 1 room (2 kids aged 5 and 3), they provided an extra bed, which was great to accommodate us all. The staff was great and very friendly. The kids thoroughly enjoyed the kids club as they had daily activities which were complimentary. You just had to book your kids in for the activities in advance. This actually gave us a chance to relax without the kids for the duration of the activities. Overall, a great hotel and location, and will definitely stay here and highly recommend it especially if you have young children.

I booked two rooms for my family from December 20–24 and had a wonderful stay. The security was excellent, vehicles were checked upon entry, and all bags were screened before entering the property, which made me feel very safe. Check-in was smooth and welcoming. The staff were professional and thoughtful, offering us tea upon arrival and even giving my daughters two elephant keychains, which was a lovely touch. The family room was very spacious and well worth the price, with two beds already set up and a great view. The second room was also comfortable and well maintained. Service throughout our stay was outstanding. Our housekeeper, Sally, went above and beyond by creating adorable elephant and dog towel designs each morning. Her attention to detail truly made our stay special. The bar also had great drinks with great staff members like Doy and Kinsley. The hotel’s location was very convenient, just a few minutes’ walk from two 7-Eleven stores, Chiang Mai Night Bazaar, and Anusarn Market. Overall, it was an excellent experience, and I would definitely book this hotel again.

Extremely friendly service upon check in and throughout the stay. Our checkin agent Praewa went above and beyond and helped us with upgrade to a better room. Room was decorated specially for our child’s birthday. There was a giant teddy bear which they loved along with fruit platter. Grateful for room upgrade. Food: we stayed at Marriott just prior to this and the quality was not as good. We had breakfast buffet twice and dinner once. The dinner service meat was low quality and very dry and tough. The breakfast food was very average and doesn’t match the quality of the hotel and staff. Food was 3/5 stars at most Service: 5/5 stars, very helpful and friendly throughout, went above and beyond to make our child’s birthday better than can be expected.

Went for the Seafood Buffet on 1st Sunday of the month. Everything you would expect to find on a 1st class buffet. All listed on their website. Great value at Bt1388. I would certainly go back again. The only disappointment was the vegetable tempura and the prawn tempura from the same station. Both items had sat for a while and were a little soggy and cold. Other than that - the rest of the food made up for it. Staff were excellent and service delivery was spot on. Plenty of seating with nice views over the garden. Worth the effort.

We stayed at a horizon suite room on the top floor mostly satisfying experience. However the serivce was terrible. Most of the staffs were unprofessional and unkind 1. The spa next to the gym's dirty and smelly, especially the shower booth. The staffs are so lazy and unkind. - They checked the locker room many times, regardless of their gender; etc we had to face guy staffs at women's locker and female staffs at men's locker - We asked for two keys because we were two ppl, the girl staff member refused to provide two keys mentioning the locker is "bigger one" - We couldn't use steam sauna even once during our stay of three days, while men's sauna was working properly everyday 2. More about services.. - The refrigerator in our room was broken, so bottles of beer fell down on my family's feet, he got hurt. We asked for the manager and explained about our situation, but the staff kept saying ok, ok... Well it was not okay! - We had to give our personal information when getting the room key (they scanned our passport already early in the morning and said that we can get our room key at the afternoon) 3. As I mentioned, we stayed at second expensive room in this hotel and experienced so much, which means clearly this is not a option of "premium hotel" to choose in Chiang mai. (We've been to many Shangri-La over the world, but this one had the most disappointing service, obviously..)

A special and heartfelt shout-out to Min at the Horizon Club Lounge, who truly went above and beyond to ensure our stay was exceptional. She thoughtfully arranged our first elephant encounter at Kerchor Elephant Sanctuary, which turned out to be one of the most meaningful and unforgettable experiences of our lives. Min also took great care in ensuring our overall well-being throughout our stay. The tour itself was impeccably organized, led by an experienced guide, and supported by elephant keepers who were not only highly professional but also genuinely warm and welcoming, graciously introducing us to their Karen tribe. This was truly a tour to remember, and we wholeheartedly recommend Kerchor Elephant Sanctuary to anyone visiting Thailand.
