Limited bookings, lots of delicious pizza and pasta.

Brisbane: Just as cool as Syd/Mel, I promise
Julius Pizzeria

This Italian restaurant is amazing. It's by far the best Italian and pizza I've had in Brisbane. Make sure to order the salami pizza and duck ragu; they're absolutely delicious. The fried potatoes are also incredibly fragrant and a must-try. I'll definitely be back for more. 😋

This place is almost always fully booked out with a line out the door, and it's easy to see why. Julius Pizzeria delivers on one of the best Fine Dining experiences I've ever had in Brisbane, from their perfectly cooked pasta to their beautifully baked pizza. Their service is next level with some of the most responsive staff I've ever seen, there was never a moment a finished plate was left on our table or a glass left empty. I had the chance to taste from their starters, main and desert menu and their swordfish special for the night absolutely blew me out of the water. Each dish was perfectly plated and was extremely well balanced. Especially their Panna cotta, which balanced it's sweet and tart notes really well along side smooth and crunchy textures. I highly recommend coming here. There was not a single thing I ordered I wouldn't recommend and I will certainly be coming back to taste the rest of their impressive menu.

This is really the best pizza place in Brisbane. I ordered two pizzas and they were delicious, just as I expected. The fried squid rings really surprised me, they were great. The waiter's attitude was very careful and meticulous, thank you very much 😊, I will go again, I must try all the dishes.

Came back after three years and tried the No. 1 pizza. It was alright, but the flavor felt a bit flat. We took it home and added hot honey, instantly way better! The dough also didn’t feel like true Neapolitan style. Overall, not bad, but nothing memorable.

Great food. Very friendly staff and good price. Very busy which is always a good sign! We enjoyed everything about our lunch.

This place is fantastic. A must go to. If you can get in! It's always packed and booked out so make sure to make a booking! Service can be a bit lacking but that's mostly because it's so packed it's easy to forget things so don't be too harsh on em.

Had a wonderful dinner at Julius. The food was both beautiful and full of flavour — we especially loved the pizzas! The atmosphere was warm and vibrant, and the service was friendly and attentive.

Google
We were fortunate to be accommodated as a walk-in party of five and were delighted with the experience from start to finish. Our selection included two pasta dishes, two pizzas, a bottle of wine, and a limoncello to conclude the meal. Both the food and service were impeccable. This restaurant remains, without question, my favourite Italian place in Brisbane.

Yelp
We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch here. Started with the smoked Burrata and eggplant caponata on top of fried pizza dough and then had the white pizza of pork and fennel sausage with two types of mushrooms. Both items were delicious although the pizza could have used a little more salt/flavor. We added a tad of salt and crushed red pepper which really brought out the flavors. After we ordered some wine they brought out some very fresh and tender focaccia and olive oil. Our server was very friendly, a gentlemen from Italy who is getting server positions and wine and finance internships around the world! We highly recommend this spot.

Yelp
Went to Julius last night for dinner and this was a great experience. If you are looking for fresh italian food, this is a good spot for a well priced, good portioned, and delicious meal. The service here was quick and good and the ambiance is really cute for a date night. The hubs and I really enjoyed thoroughly. For food we ordered: * Salscicca Pizza - this had sausages and arugula which was delicious and refreshing and came with 6 slices * Fried Calamari - this was absolutely DELICIOUS, super soft and tender - this is a must get here *Vanilla Pana Cotta - this came with poaches pear, hazelnuts & caramel sauce which was delicious Overall, great food and felt very fresh. Would definitely recommend to check this place out!

Yelp
This place was super busy but worth the wait. We ordered a couple pizzas that were both delicious, but I have to say the potato pizza was the star. Service was wonderful and the waiter even helped me choose a wine that I really liked.

Yelp
Amazing experience. Great food. Great staff. Felt welcomed and enjoyed every course of pizzas and salads and negronis. Loved it.

Yelp
Amazing and lovely and have tasty pizza. I also order 2 for take-out for my mid night snack.

Yelp
Believe the hype. It's super yummy. I got the carbonara pizza that was amazing. Daughter got the deluxe margarita which had a great crust but felt pretty basic for deluxe. Still tasted great. I want to come back and try them all. We got take out and sat on the benches. Super fun evening.

Yelp
It has been a hot minute since I've experienced a restaurant that fully lived up to its immense internet hype, but Julius Pizzeria did exactly that with a high quality pasta dish that absolutely knocked my socks off. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? I'm told that Julius Pizzeria can get crowded, but I was pleased to find that upon walking in without a reservation on a Saturday afternoon, I was seated immediately at the bar. From there I wouldn't call the service particularly attentive, but I wasn't looking for attention and instead just appreciated what was classy but chic decor and a solid assembly line of people watching. My pasta came out quick after order, which was all I cared about. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? $25.00 got me a good portion of the pasta special, which was a mezze maniche with pork and veal ragu, which was particularly reasonably priced given the generous exchange rate. Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? This was a sensational dish, plain and simple. The pasta was cooked to perfection, and was clearly handmade in a way that lapped up the tasty and flavorful ragu packed with all sorts of twists and turns between the two meats. I devoured this dish, and could have easily packed away a full second helping. Two Stars. Star 5: Would you be excited to go back? Absolutely brilliant. Yes. Julius lives up to the hype. Star.

Yelp
Julius has a great central location, and despite a large dining area it tends to fill on weekends whenever the weather is nice. Which is most of the time. It's not cheap, but they offer some quality ingredients. The marinara deluxe pizza, a crust with ample sauce and herbs and a few very rich dollops of buffalo mozzarella, was a step up from many of the other pizzas I've tried. The crust was crispy, and the flavors fresh. I wouldn't mind going back a few times to see what else is on offer, though I'm more likely to try their sister restaurant, Beccofino, first.

Yelp
I'm never one to wait in a queue at a restaurant. I, I'm sure like many, hate waiting. However the other school of thought is that if a restaurant has a line, there must be a good reason. My wife and I went here to have some dinner. From the outside we could see the place was crowded and after talking to the host we were put on the waiting list. The wait time was around 15-20 minutes, so the staff seated us at the bar with a couple of menus, so we could peruse with a drink in hand. The staff were pleasant and where very playful with each other, cheeky almost. It was refreshing as they worked very hard and kept the place running while still remaining human. Even with how busy it was, after giving our order our meals arrived in ten or so minutes. Their chefs must run a tight ship and hats off to them for that. The meals were sensational. The pasta hit all the right notes and the pizza was perfect, chewy crust with all the right flavours. It's a cozy little place with a raked ceiling and low lighting. I'm always fond of timber and stone decor, reminding me of old world architecture. Amazing service by staff who know what they are doing and how to do it well. Food that is worth every bite. Definitely a hit!

Yelp
This place was wonderful! The food. The staff. The ambiance. 5 ! I'm not certain if they take reservations but will check next time we visit due to it being very busy and on a Wednesday! If you like pizza and pasta def try this place out!

Yelp
Sitting perfectly on the corner of Fish Lane & Grey Street, in South Brisbane, Julius Pizzeria is possibly one of the best Italian dining experiences we've had in recent times. And while there's some familiarity with the dishes on offer, as the "little brother" of Beccofino (in Teneriffe), we would say that Julius Pizzeria may have outshone big bro this time. Julius Pizzeria has a very urban & modern feel, with exposed-brick walls & high ceilings, as well as floor-to-ceiling glass windows with views of Fish Lane & the Cultural Centre. We liked that as soon as you walked in, you can see the kitchen with the hot wood-fired oven "Julius" busy at work, while the inviting bar at the other end of the room, tempts those of us who are thirsty. The atmosphere is very welcoming & relaxed, which is what you want in a modern pizzeria. The Summer Menu is absolutely on point, with Pizzas (of course!, where you can select between "Rosse" or "Bianche" bases $20.50-23.50), Starters ($16.50-19.50), Mains ($29-29.50), Sides ($10), Dessert ($10.50-13.50) & some great options for the "Bambinis" (kids $6.50 - $13). As we were here with our friends we decided that whatever we would order, we would have a bite of each other's food! The only way to dine, when with friends who love food! We had the: (1) Carpaccio di Manzo $16.50, (thinly sliced seared beef fillet with truffled pecorino & rocket leaves, (2) Capesante in Padella $16.50 (pan seared scallops with pea puree & grated bottarga), (3) The Rissotto of the day $22.50,(mushroom with peccorino) (4) The pizza of the day $22.50 (5) Cotoletta di Vitello $29 (crumbed baby veal with vine ripened tomatoes, goats cheese & basil), and (6) Pappardelle al Ragu d'Anatra $23.50 (flat ribbon pasta with a duck and tomato ragu). You know it's awesome when, your entire table is silent, in the moment, & savouring each bite. This was the case for each of the items as they came out. Having a bite here & having a taste there. There wasn't a thing we could fault with each of the dishes. The pizza was also wood-fired perfection. Absolutely wonderful. Service was excellent & if it wasn't for being full, we'd have tried dessert as well. But there's always a reason to come back. Julius Pizzeria is a must! Perfect for dining with friends, family, & it's actually quite an impressive dining space to impress a date.

Yelp
You had to be on time to get a table. The food was wonderful. Service great. I only just managed to take this picture before the pizza was all gone. We all left very happy.

Yelp
They don't take phone reservations, the online ones were all gone but we went early before the theatre and got a table. The tables were very close together so not a good spot for a date! We started with an Aperol spritz and then got a pizza and each, the gamberi piccanti was delicious and my husband tried the special which was pork belly and potato. The bases are traditional, thin and crispy like you get in Italy. We shared dessert which was fritelle, warm donuts filed with jam and accompanied by a rather icy ice cream. I can make better ice cream but the donuts were nice.

Yelp
Amazing food, don't know much about Italian but loved it, the staff were really helpful in all aspects. Very enjoyable time would recommend to everyone!!!

Yelp
Checked out this new joint just before the holidays and i'm giving it two thumbs up! Pity I don't have more thumbs. The service was impeccable; just the right amount of attention without going overboard. We sat at the back close to the bar as there were large groups out the front. As it turned out, it was a good choice as they ended up being a tad noisy but being the holiday season, it only added to the fun atmosphere. We shared the mushroom pizza (which was generous for two), risotto and salad. Everything was finger-licking tasty! I'd love to come back and try every pizza because damnnnnn, they looked FINE! The manager was friendly and attentive, and I love the woodfired oven and the banter amongst the happy kitchen staff. Happy staff equals happy customers, right? Anyhow, as much as I enjoyed cousin Beccofino, I think there's something just a tad more special at Julius Pizzeria!

Yelp
Very disappointing after all the great reviews I've read. I took friends there last night (21-10-15) and the noise was deafening, plus why let kids run rite in an adult restaurant. My friends pasta dish was dry and I'm sure they had run out of Bugs as there weren't any in the meal. Our main meals came while the dirty plates and cutlery were still in place on the table. The head waiter was rude as when we were out of wine he said, "that's all you get" and walked away. Just to say we won't be back. Robbo South Brisbane

Yelp
Amazing. Brilliant, personal service. The food is divine. We had a perfect pasta, chicken and pizza. The dessert with Nutella-filled dumplings is brilliant. We look forward to coming back!

Yelp
Have visited Julius Pizzeria twice in the last month, and I think that is saying something. My recommendation - go with more than one person and share a number of dishes, as there is simply too much to try in one visit. The pizza base is wonderfully thin and the toppings aren't overdone, the pasta is certainly cooked al dente and the staff are very friendly and efficient. A must try in South Brisbane!

Yelp
It's ok. Just ok. Bit of a wait and the meal servings were a little smallish, and not the greatest tasting pizza either.
google avatar

Nam D.

Yelp
Amazing can not describe it. Probably be best pizza I have had in Brisbane. I have even taken friends who have lived in Italy for years and they loved how authentic the dishes are. Blindly order any salad, pizza or pasta off the menu and I guarantee you will love it. The Calamarata ai Fiori di Zucca is to die for. Its a must try!!

Yelp
Bland food. We had 3 different pizzas and they were all average. Sadly Brisbane hasn't quite grown up yet.

Yelp
This is my new favourite Italian spot to eat whilst in Brisbane. Finding a car park was a nightmare but finally we found one. We had to wait a little for a table as we didn't book, but boy was it worth it! The service was amazing and the level of quality food was out of this world. I've never taken my young family to a restaurant before and ordered 3 courses for us to have the plates cleared at the end with nothing left on them. This will be a must stop for when I return to Brisbane in the future. Love this place!

Yelp
Julius Pizzeria has a good customer service but the food is extremely greasy. My cousin and I ordered two different pizzas and when they arrived at our table, we could easily see a layer of oil on them. I didn't like the taste of my pizza. It didn't have any flavor.

Anna L.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing food. The service is great. The atmosphere is beautiful. You do have to wait for a table, they don't do bookings, only walk in, but you can easily find things to do whilst you wait, like have a drink or go for a stroll. Julius is always busy, but that is because it is well worth the wait. Again, the food is phenomenal.

Guy R.

Yelp
Great food - that's why it's always busy. Pizza is so good but the pasta is tops aswell. That's the problem with this place deciding what to choose.

Steve F.

Yelp
Didn't have Italian, but I had some of the best Barramundi fish during my Brisbane work trip. Ate at the bar as I was traveling solo, and staff was super nice, good beer selection, and great food. Aussies are a friendly bunch, as are Kiwis. Love them both to bits, nice people. Who doesn't like a nation that's into good coffee and beer?

Yelp
As a self-proclaimed foodie, I'm a little ashamed to say that I've never been to Beccofino in Teneriffe. I don't tend to go to Italian restaurants due to their wheat-heavy menus and so although I've heard all the raves about the Duck Ragu pasta and pizzas, I'm yet to get to the Brisbane institution. However, the central location of Beccofino's new little brother Julius Pizzeria made it more appealing and after hearing nothing but good things, I made plans to meet a friend there for weekday dinner. Unobtrusively housed on the corner of recently revamped Fish Lane and Grey St in South Brisbane, directly across from the Museum, it's a very short walk from the CBD or South Brisbane bus station to get to Julius. The restaurant has a very modern decor with exposed brick and large open windows which makes the relatively small restaurant feel open and relaxed. Bookings are only taken before 6pm but when I was greeted immediately at 7 when I entered from the Fish Lane entrance, I was told it would only be a ten minute wait or I could eat at the bar. I opted to wait for a table at the bar where the bartender offered me a drink immediately and I was given a menu to peruse. We ordered glasses of wine (Sauvignon Blanc and Soave) which were between $10-15 and sipped as we waited. True to the maitre d's estimate, it was a short wait for the table and we were seated next to one of the windows looking out to Fish Lane. The seasonal menu is split into several sections - pizza (rosse and bianche or red and white), starters, pasta, mains, sides and dessert. There's also a kids menu and I noted that there were several families enjoying their meals that night. The menu doesn't note if any items are gluten-free or dairy-free (as is becoming more standard) so I assume that their pizzas and pastas aren't available as such. Trying to be good, I eschewed the delicious looking pizzas and duck ragu pasta (although they looked incredible judging by my nosy peeking on nearby tables) and went for the Risotto of the Day ($22) which was pancetta and leek. My dining companion chose the Strozzapreti alla Salsiccia ($23.50) which was twisted pasta with pork and fennel sausage, broccoli leaves, chilli and parmigiana cheese. We also chose to have the Broccoli e Fagiolini ($10) - steamed broccoli with cannellini beans, mint and lemon. I was tempted by the Polenta Fritta (fried polenta with grilled zucchini, whipped buffalo mozzarella, chilli and oregano) but the waiter said he thought we'd have more than enough food with what we'd ordered which was refreshing given that many restaurants would suggest ordering more food. The meals arrived not long afterwards and wow, they were large serves! We were offered freshly grated parmesan which we both said yes to. My risotto was cooked al dente and a lovely creamy yellow colour (oh the butter!) with chunks of meaty pancetta and fresh herbs dotted throughout. Rich and flavourful, I loved every mouthful and strugged between being full and leaving such delicious mouthfuls behind. The strozzapretti looked delicious but I didn't get to try it. The steamed broccoli came with a wedge of lemon and plenty of beans, so was a very filling side option. The lemon wedge actually came handy for my risotto as it helped to cut through the richness. Neither of us finished our meals or the side and we both left feeling very satisfied. The dessert menu sounded good but there was no way I could fit that in so we instead had some tea and coffee. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal at Julius. The food was excellent, the prices very reasonable, the ambience lovely and the service was exceptional. Throw in the convenient location and I see a return visit soon in my future.

Yelp
Beautiful food and great wine! I love everything about this place. Pizzas, pastas, starters, desserts - everything was fresh, delicious and top quality. A must-visit if you appreciate an authentic Italian cuisine! :)

Yelp
The staff attentive. The food amazing. Jut as good as Italy. Pizza wonderful. Sit inside not in the alley unless you like car fumes. Windy night so don't cause us a problem.

Yelp
Absolutely awesome I've never had a bad dish, just gotta keep going back for more every time I'm in Brisbane. Seriously just like my Nonna used to cook.
