first of all, yes, it is a rough trail, covered with boulders, and you will trip and possibly fall, so you should definitely be able to take it slow and careful, however, I'm 72 years old and went up the trail. As a disclaimer i have been hiking the trails and backroads of northern Michigan for most of my life, so this type of trail is not unknown to me. You should probably carry a walking stick, and not carry anything else in your hands that you don't want to get broken, (such as a cell phone). As a matter of fact anything that you'd rather not land on if you trip, such as a camera. In fact, just plan on tripping at least once, hopefully you will adjust accordingly afterwards. Remember to just take your time, hydrate, and don't bother doing it in the hot part of the day, also there is a rest house along the way, possibly two. if you follow my advice you will eventually get there, one other thing, leave enough time before closing to accomplish there and back and time to see everything, because going back down when it's beginning to get dark is just plain stupid. I guess one thing i should say is know what time it gets dark at whatever time of the year it happens to be. Good luck! As an afterthought if you carry a flashlight it wouldn’t hurt, and might even help if you are running late in the day. A final note - be sure to check level of batteries in any camera that you may be counting on and be sure there is room on the SD (or whatever ) card in your camera, or carry a spare. You don't want to go back to the vehicle for one, ever. Amen.
