On the Grid : Retreat Gastropub

"A neighborhood gem in the middle of the booming bioscience and technology scene that is the Cortex District, Retreat Gastropub offers a comfortable and approachable atmosphere for the creative minds next door. Serving up craft cocktails and beer alongside a fresh and simple menu, the staff welcomes you to fuel up or decompress at your own pace. Stand outs include a variety of house-made shrub cocktails, farmhouse burger and a sinful poutine. And the majority of the options are made from scratch and on-site, such as their signature artisanal ketchup. Vegetarian options are plentiful as well. But plan ahead – it gets busy during the weekday lunch rush, and they don’t take reservations. So if you dig Edison bulbs, wood-top tables and a down-home pub grub, stop on by." - Manifest

Food was excellent. Definitely delicious but a little expensive for drinks. Burgers we amazing but a little salty. Just made me drink more so not a huge issue. Definitely recommend but it will get expensive quickly.

Brunch vibes at Retreat Gastropub were EVERYTHING. A radiant group of STL Ladies Brunch Group members gathered to enjoy phenomenal food, fabulous drinks, and even better company. The energy was as bright as the spring sunshine pouring through the windows! I personally loved the loaded toast (still dreaming about it), and I couldn’t resist a side of candied bacon—sweet, crispy, salty perfection. 10/10 recommend. Not a single plate went unfinished—every dish got rave reviews. And the cocktails? Their mixology game is elite. The drink menu is creative, balanced, and absolutely worth exploring. Top-notch from first sip to last. If you haven’t been to Retreat Gastropub, it’s time to change that. Follow me for more brunch adventures, local food finds, and unforgettable girl gang moments!

Burger and fries were really good. Service was ok as well. Only docking a star because we were sat in a side section and it got pretty warm. We had to ask the server to turn on the fans and open the windows. B+

I made an early afternoon reservation. Due to a metro delay, I was a half hour late but the restaurant took great care of my guests. The atmosphere is open and welcoming. The food is delicious. I got the salmon. I've eaten a lot of salmon after living in Washington State and Alaska. This was in my top 3, probably #1 best. The prices are reasonable for the great food and service. I'll definitely return. Update: still amazing. I returned and it's great

This place is super cute! We got there almost at closing, so I think that didn’t help our food. The chicken wings were good and a very nice size, they just lacked some flavor for me. I like my wings naked, but next time I will try them with a sauce to see if that makes a difference. Ambiance was nice! And our waitress was extremely attentive. I’d visit again.

When I fly back into the states I always drop by my hometown of St Louis Missouri looking for hidden gem restaurants like this place. The Golden Hospitality is why I return to this restaurant often with the freshest delicious cuisines on the menu. Fastest professional service by Kevin at the bar during Happy Hour. The owner & top bartender welcomed me back to reality & their restaurant ✌️ Salamat = Thanks in the Filipino language

I arrived 5 minutes before closing and was still greeted with a warm friendly welcome and an offer to get some food going for me before they shut down the kitchen. Next they helped me choose a local beer and later a cocktail for last call. When the cocktail was delivered they told me to relax and take my time because they would be there cleaning up for some time anyway, then another employee asked me if I liked the cocktail (their version of an Old Fashioned called Timber which I highly recommend :) ) I can't imagine a more pleasant experience.
