"Located just outside of Santa Cruzin the heart of the Colchagua Valley, Clos Apalta Residence (formerly Lapostolle Residence) is known for its premium Chilean wine.In 2005, the Marnier family opened the stunning property on a steep hillside in the micro region of Apalta. In addition to a state-of-the-art, gravity-fed winery, they built four villas, giving wine lovers a unique place to stay. Today, Clos Apalta functions as a Relais & Chateaux luxury hotel, complete with beautiful views of the valley and its surrounding mountains. Guests can relax on their private terrace, in the lodge, or by the infinity pool, sipping house wines while enjoying the vistas. They also have exclusive access to the dining room, where chefs use produce from the hotel’s own organic garden, and tours of the owners’ wine cellar during visits to the winery."

Staying at Clos Apalta was the most wonderfully relaxing way to end our stay in Chile. We enjoyed a couple of wine tours, a visit to the museum in Santa Cruz, a cycle ride around the vineyard and walk up in to the hills above the vineyard. The food is amazing, as of course is the wine which is paired with every course. The staff can be contacted via WhatsApp at all times and are very responsive. All in all, the quality of the accommodation, level of service, location and whole experience excellent. We would not hesitate to go back if we had the chance.

We arrived late but were greeted warmly and given time to freshen up before dinner. Our vehicle was parked, we were driven to our room, set high above the vineyard to find out luggage already arrived. A magnificent four course dinner, paired with wines specific to the dining room and not for general sale was an absolute delight. Fresh produce, creatively presented & elegant wines what more could you ask? The 'room' was beautiful; big free standing bath, huge shower, plunge pool, beds that you could happily stay in for days, a comfortable living area and it all looking out over the vineyard towards the glorious mountains. A dream visit, ended too soon. Thank you to everyone at the establishment.

We stayed in Cabernet, and the views and accommodations were superb. The restaurant is excellent, and service there was spot on. Loved our tour of the winery, also. We spent three nights, and they were a relaxing counterpoint to our other incredible stays in Chile which involved a lot of hiking. This stop was rest and bliss.

Stunning property. Our villa was beautiful. Excellent and attentive staff. Meals were beautiful and delicious. Loved our tour of the wine cellar. An amazing property with incredible people who work there. The villas are private and spacious. Very pampered while staying here.

Winery with one of the better reputations in the Calcagua wine region of Chile, originally with four rooms and now increased to ten. Beautiful rooms and lovely views over the El Condor valley. Service was fine, if occasionally a bit relaxed and slightly lacking in warmth. Dinner was very good. We stayed for four nights to chill after a hectic fortnight of travels in Chile, so maybe that was a mistake as the food offering outside of the formal lunches and dinners was very limited. For activities, external wine tours were excellent, but surprisingly, their own was a little underwhelming. Horse riding was disappointing, as the horses were skittish and the process not very well controlled. Nice gym, pleasant small steam and sauna and you cannot fault the setting and views from the rooms. Tons of space and a lot of hard wood surfaces. Maybe some blinds might have been nice for the bathrooms given the occasionally helicopter fly past! All in all, a nice stay but maybe better for one or two nights, and definitely book external wine tours.|

Lovely hillside property with private villas and casitas. Thoughtfully prepared meals (considerate to dietary restrictions). They offer cooking and cocktail classes in addition to the vineyard tours and other outdoor and cultural activities We booked this with a trip to Patagonia via Knowmad Adventures

We stayed here for 3 days/2 nights, and this is now high on our list of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed. The main house where we had our meals is the former residence of the owners, and everything about it is warm and welcoming. We felt like we were visiting friends. This year several new casitas have been added along the hillside, which is where we slept. The architecture is absolutely stunning – floor to ceiling windows looking out over the vineyard, individual plunge pool on the private terrace, separate sitting area with a desk, and a free-standing tub in the magnificent bathroom. All our meals were included in the rate. The food was fabulous, and each course was paired with the amazing wines from their cellars. The winery can be toured even if you are not a guest at the Residences, and I would highly recommend that. The design was fascinating, and the science behind the architecture was incredible. We could have stayed at Clos Apalta for a week!

We returned to Clos Apalta a second time because we love it so much! Joachin, the manager, is an absolute gem. The renovations they've done since we first visited look great, and the food, wine and service are as perfect as ever. Clos Apalta will always be on the top of our list for future trips to Chile.
