"Why we love it: A friendly haven on Dominica’s northwest coast that caters to outdoor enthusiasts Highlights: - A short stroll to the beach and hiking trails - Access to outdoor activities like horseback riding and river boat tours - Comfort in the form of AC, laundry service, and free Wi-Fi The Review: Divers and tourists adore this northern nook, which presides over a hill near some of Dominica’s best descents and attractions. In under 10 minutes, guests can walk to either the beach or segment 11 of the Waitukubuli National Trail. Other activities the hotel can help arrange include birdwatching, horseback riding, and river boat tours. Also on offer is a shuttle service around Picard that will even pick up travelers from Douglas-Charles Airport 45 minutes away. Overlooking the ocean, The Champs boasts some classic tropical details, like balcony latticework and brightly colored umbrellas beside a turquoise pool, fringed by fruit trees and a flowering garden. Mainly, though, it serves comfort, including air-conditioning, laundry service, free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, refrigerators, private patios or balconies, safety deposit boxes, and in-room tea and coffee-makers, plus grace notes like wine glasses and electrical outlets near the nightstands. Adventure travelers and guests flying long-haul especially prize the hot tub—not to mention extras like yoga classes, massage sessions, watersports, and even karaoke. The made-to-order breakfast remains a hit, as does on-site Restaurant The Champs, which serves everything from Tex-Mex cuisine and design-your-own pizzas to seafood dishes, Caribbean fare, and legendary Dutch coffee and apple pie."
This hotel was recommended to use through the dive shop we dove with. It was so wonderful. Small and quiet. Beautiful views. Very friendly staff. Food was great! Many people we dove with stayed at the Intercontinental and spoke poorly of the food and service so we were feeling pretty special staying here and with a much better rate. Would highly recommend!

Perfect place to stay for a sisters trip! The Champs is fabulous blend of comfort, personal service and a real Dominican vibe! The view of Prince Rupert Bay and Cabrits is sensational. The food was what brought me to The Champs years ago with colleagues and the food continues to impress. The staff was most helpful in helping us make various arrangements around the country. |The Champs is the best!!

This is my second time staying at The Champs, and I must say that the service has been consistently great. This time I stayed with my two girls (8 & 9), and they thoroughly enjoyed every minute of their stay. The location was easy to get to, and the ambience of the hotel allows anyone to unwind in a peaceful and quiet environment. I highly recommend being at the restaurant at sunset so you can look at all the lovely colors over the ocean. The room was clean and so comforting...best sleep of my life! I would highly recommend the hotel for anyone looking for value for their money.

We had a lovely stay in two large well appointed bedrooms. Great location with beautiful views of the ocean. The breakfast was excellent! We also had lunch there and the food was simple and delicious. The staff is always willing to help especially Sabrina, Tammy and Magdelena. Thanks for a great stay!

Amazing place to stay for two young female travelers! It was our first time in Dominica and the Champs was perfect- affordable, great location, and so accommodating. We ate most meals at the hotel and they were delicious and cooked right there in front of us. Staff was so helpful and genuinely cared about our entire trip experience. They helped us book taxis and made sure we had good activities booked every day. The view and pool was also amazing. Keep in mind the hotel is up a huge hill and about an hour drive from most of the activities which leave from Roseau. Staff helped us book taxis with affordable rates for anywhere we needed to go! It’s very close to lots of restaurants and shops if you are able to make the walk up the hill.

The Champs is very comfortable and gave us a warm welcome. The staff are just lovely and Lise came to our table to make sure everything was ok. She booked taxis and gave us great advice on different things. The views of the Caribbean Sea from our balcony were stunning. I honestly can't fault it. The only word of caution I'd give is that in order to get such spectacular views the Champs is up a very steep hill. My husband has a dodgy knee so we just took it very slowly and it was fine.

The room amenities are nicely done, all geared for comfort. Our sleep quality of the mattresses are like sleeping at home. The restaurant meals are tasty and freshly made with several options. The staff are friendly and accommodating.

I had a wonderful stay at The Champs Hotel. This boutique property sits atop a hill, and the views of the water and town below—especially at sunset—are worth the climb (or drive). The hotel was clean and well-kept; everything was in good working order. The onsite restaurant was both excellent and reasonably priced, and the hotel conveniently assists with tours and airport transportation. What truly sets The Champs apart, however, is the staff - including the owners. They were attentive, friendly, and always ready to help.
