I'm from the west coast and was in town visiting family. Meat Boss came up as the best BBQ spot in town. I can truly say the ribs were the best I've ever had, the pulled pork was also very good. The Service was a little cold but the food made up for it.

The food is delicious. The sweet tea is wonderful. I see why the beans are world renowned. The pulled pork sandwich is impressive. The ribs are delicious also. I see why people rave about this place.

A friend of mine pleaded me to try this place. Apparently he watched it on diners and dives? It's an hour and twenty minute drive one-way. So I checked the website and found the hours and made the drive to Meat Boss. As you can see, they are closed until the new year! I checked the website again and didn't find any notification that they would be closed for the holidays. So.. seven gallon of gas, 140+ miles for nothing. Maybe I'll try this place someday. Until then, this review remains incomplete.

We took the 1.5 hour drive over from Gulf Shores after seeing their episode on Guy Fieri's Triple D on Food Network! So glad we did! We even got to meet Mrs. Chinnis, the owner(Leah was too busy).🤣 My wife had the Pulled Butt sandwich and I had the Boss Burger. Both were just amazing! We had the potato sald and boss beans for our sides and I added a link of Conecuh sausage. All was superb! Everybody there, from the order takers, servers, owner, etc. were super freindly and seemed genuinely happy to see every customer!! I ordered a brisket sandwich to bring home for supper. Don't forget to try the rib candy and jalapeño jelly on your sandwich! You'll be glad you tried them! Great job everybody! Can't wait to come back!

Was told this place was good. Not true spent 53.00$ on 3 ribs, small portion of brisket , pulledpork sandwich, beans , potato salad and Mac and cheese. Brisket was OK pulled pork was dry and ribs were avg. It was the sides that that were terrible the beans were very spicy the mac and cheese looked and tasted exactly like box velveeta I couldn't tell if potato salad was spoiled or just tasted bad.

Absolutely blown away by this barbecue spot! The ribs were phenomenal—tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The chicken was just as impressive, cooked to perfection with incredible attention to detail. You can tell this is a family-owned restaurant by the warm, welcoming atmosphere and the passion behind every plate. The environment is relaxed and inviting, and the people are simply amazing. I felt right at home from the moment I walked in. I cannot wait to come back—this place is a true gem!

Found this place on google and so glad we decided to stop. We tried a little of everything. Beef brisket, chicken, ribs, sausage, wings, rib candy and baked beans. EVERYTHING was excellent. Leane told us the history of the place including the introduction of the French Fry to the place. If you are near the area- STOP. Meat boss will not disappoint. Closed Sunday and Monday.

Amazing food, very sweet staff, wonderful atmosphere. I will definitely return next time im in Alabama.

We LOVE Meat Boss and if it was closer to us we'd go probably every week. The ordering is super easy and it's usually very quick! Last time we went it wasn't quick, but I think we came in right before all the catering orders were due. My go to is chicken on a sweet bun with white BBQ sauce. Toppings: coleslaw, jalapeño jelly, pickles, cheese Sides: - Mac and cheese is good - boss beans are ok - fries are really good as long as their hot - sweet potato is always amazing - banana pudding isn't the best but hits the spot

Everything tasted truly amazing. The beans and the brisket sandwich was a 10/10. The fires were a little soggy, not fresh or crispy. The service was great and the store was clean.

Well I now have the best burger I have ever had, The DDD, named after Guy Fieri. Patty was thick and cooked to perfection and the candied rib, Lord help me. The sauces were very good. The white sauce blows away anything you can get in North Alabama. You order at a counter and they write your order out on a paper bag. My colleague and I sat outside and I know it was freshly cooked since it took a few minutes to get to us. The inside is unassuming as is the building but we did enjoy the outside seating. The baked beans were also good with shreds of pork mixed in. They had a slight spicy kick to them but was not overwelming. I highly recommend Meat Boss when in the area.

I wish I could give this 10 stars! I got the hamburger fully loaded with potato salad and my boyfriend got the ribs with beans and mac n cheese. The white sauce is to die for. A little runny but amazing vinegar taste. The ribs are slow cooked and so tender! Great rub on them! Mac n cheese has the shell pasta and loaded with cheese! The potato salad was great with the red potatoes! The beans were my favorite! It was Smokey and had pieces of meat in them! My favorite side! This place has pictures of DDD man himself! This was amazing and will definitely be back to try more!

We went for my wifes high-school group that still get together regularly. The meats were awesome. She had the sweet potato with pulled chicken on top and Alabama white sauce. I had the pulled brisket on a round top roll with jalepeno jelly and sweet bbq sauce and fries. I really enjoyed my selection and the brisket was moist anf full of flavor. Her dish was very good but her potato was a bit over done but, tasty nonetheless. While we were there for the people, we found a lunch place that we will go back to over and over again. We will return.

I travel all over and have been to all of the top BBQ places in Texas Kansas City, Memphis and many in Alabama and North Carolina. This place ranks among the top. I ordered pulled pork, brisket, and turkey with boss beans and potato salad. All of the meats were well seasoned and cooked perfectly. And I can't forget the sauces, man! The white sauce mixed with the sweet is on a whole different level. The sides, although not ground breaking, were very very good. This place is a must try, especially if your a BBQ nut like myself.

Wonderful food and wonderful staff! We stopped on the way to do something else and figured we would try it out. My husband had the brisket and I had the pulled pork on a sweet bun. It was mouthwatering! Y'all come eat. You won't regret a single bite.

Out order was just right. The service was great. We were greeted by the owner. She was so nice and asked us where we were from. We were visiting relatives in New Orleans and they drove us to Alabama. The restaurant was nice and we had a great time.

Meat Boss is cranking out some of the best smoked meat in the city. The brisket & chicken is phenomenal. Bring your appetite. The entire staff is always friendly and welcoming. Different types of bbq sauces to pick from. They are all delicious.

Love this place! They give you so much food. Today I had the monstrous bacon cheeseburger. I couldn't even finish it all. It was full of flavor and had a several slices of bacon! The baked beans were very tasty too. I can't wait to get back up there .

Saw this place on DDD and made a special trip to try it out. The barbecue was outstanding. We had the boss burger with rib candy and it was excellent. We got some sausage and my wife even loved it and she is not much of a sausage fan. We even bought their sampler package of spices and sauces. If you are within an hour or two definitely worth the trip.

Some of the best bbq I've ever had. The brisket was the right combination of beef and fat with just the right amount of smoke.

Seen on DDD and knew we had to stop on our trip from Missouri to Gulf Shores. Food was great, Service was great. Had the shredded Brisket sandwich and Rib Candy. Brisket was perfectly cooked. Rib Candy was good, just you got more of it. Will stop again when we come thru.

Visited this place based on several people recommending, was really disappointed. We had the brisket which was tender and well seasoned with sauce. Where this disappointed was the sides. They were below average for BBQ place. Baked beans were pork and beans from a can with some meat added. green beans were from a can with no seasoning at all. Potato salad was not seasoned and runny, potatoes were hard no taste. Cole slaw was the same no seasoning. Rib candy was delicious but over priced for what you received. Also there was not bread given on platters. I have lived all over the north and south and was disappointed- perhaps the expectation was too high. These are basics for BBQ.

Looking on YELP for a lunch place in Mobile and found Meat Boss. Local, friendly, and delicious. It was a beautiful January day so we ate outside at a picnic table.

The pulled pork is worth the drive! We loved everything about the experience and will definitely come again.

Went by there yesterday and tried their Triple D burger that was featured on Food Network. It is a big burger with their rib candy on it plus you can get it in a combo with one of their sides and a drink. That was a lot of food so I shared it with my husband. It'd been a while since I'd stopped by and I appreciated how patient the person was who took my order and helped me with their order process. It's so clean and bright and the people who work there are so nice!

Dude these are the best burgers in town. They don't taste too greasy. You're not going to find better food anywhere else. 1,000 stars

In the mood for bbq and found this on Yelp. Reviews looked pretty promising so we decided to give it a try. Pulled up to what looked like a residential neighborhood to a little yellow cottage that housed the restaurant. The restaurant had some seating inside and picnic tables outside on the porch. Me and my husband were hungry after a long drive but decided to split the pulled pork sandwich with two sides. We added extra toppings slaw, pepper jack cheese, onions and pickles. We opted for the baked beans and mac n cheese for our side but had to order the additional banana pudding side for dessert. Your order comes in a brown bag lunch sack. How cool for the south. All the quality goes into the food and let me say it was all there and then some. The sandwich was large and had plenty of meat and the toppings were the perfect amount to compliment. We decided on the sweet and spicy and the white sauce. Both were excellent. The sweet and spicy was just perfect for me. Not to spicy and not to sweet but not to runny. The Mac and cheese was creamy and the cheese sauce was delicious. The baked beans were also very delicious. The banana pudding was tasty and just enough for the two of us to share. My regrets was that I didn't take any pics. We planned to stop by and get more bbq for our trip home. I have to say this is THE BEST bbq I have ever eaten. RUN DONT WALK to get yours. If you're the owner and reading this post, call me we should open a store in Evansville Indiana!

We have several people and all tried an each other's food. Loved the Rib Candy, Mac n cheese great, baked beans very good, fries nice and crispy, potato salad "white kind" mayo base I think was good. Smoked chicken good. I am not a big white sauce person but their white sauce was good. The pulled pork was tender but I am just not wild about the bbq sauce. The sweet sauce I didn't like at all. The sweet and spicy was ok. Service was good. Would like to try breakfast.

The Bottom Line: The Meat Boss is large and in charge when it comes to BBQ sandwiches. Would I drive over 7 miles outside Mobile to try some highly rated smoked meats? It does help when it's on my way to Biloxi. Walking in I was welcomed with walls adorned with license plates, and customer artwork drawn on the brown paper bags all their orders come in. Normally I order a plate of brisket to compare a BBQ joint against its peers but Meat Boss doesn't play like that. Instead they specialized in "make it your way" sandwiches. I ordered the pulled brisket with white sauce. The cashier suggested I also try the "rib candy." More on that shortly. Here's the rundown on my meal: Pulled Brisket: everything I wanted in a sandwich. The brisket was piled high and as a fan of white BBQ sauce (go Alabama) it paired well with the meat. Mac and Cheese: Your basic creamy macaroni and cheese shells. Potato Salad: Also in the creamy variety, a solid choice. Rib Candy: The cashier said this is what people travel from afar to get and I can understand why- it was the meat with the most flavor, a complex smoky and sweat combo. Maybe it was a good thing it was served in a small one ounce portion because I could have made that an entire side to my meal. What can I say? In a region where seafood and smoked meats rule large, the Meat Boss clearly owns the later.

So incredibly good, we wanted to find a true southern bbq spot and this was it. We had the chicken, pork and brisket and everyone loved what they got. Was in between downtown Mobile and on our way to Belengrath gardens. We would have come again during our trip if we were staying closer. Worth a try for sure.

The best BBQ in Mobile HANDS DOWN. Also, owned by the best people. It can get busy so plan to wait a little bit on your food!

Super cute & delicious! So thankful for Yelp!! We would've never found this place if it wasn't for Yelpers! On our way from New Orleans to Fort Rucker and needed some lunch. Searched for places off hwy 65 and came across Meat Boss. Knew when we pulled up we were going to like it here! Not too crowded at 1:15 on a Thursday so that was nice. Hubby and I both got brisket on sweet rolls. Then we each fixed ours up completely differently. He got a combo with beans and Mac n cheese. We also ordered the meat candy. And I got a chocolate chip cookie. Everything single thing we got was delicious! I ate half of the cookie before our food came out. Then we both polished off our sandwiches. I had a bite of the meat candy and hubby ate the rest of that along with some of his sides. He couldn't eat it all but wanted to try it all. He said they were equally good and got about halfway through each side. Definitely a gem of a find.

Traveling thru town and found them on Yelp. Tried the brisket and ribs, awesome. Plan on stopping there on are way back

The food and service was awful. I am confused how this place even has so many good reviews. We recently moved here to Mobile and was excited to try this place based on the great reviews. When we received our food, I couldn't even eat it. It was disgusting and looked disgusting and not like real meat.

Very delicious BBQ. The smoked wings are amazing. Get there early because the wings don't last long. I highly recommend Meat Boss.

Delicious BBQ! We are from Texas and were excited to find a great place to get brisket on our road trip to Florida. It was not fatty meat at all, super delicious sauce flavor, great beans and macaroni! Would for sure travel off our route to eat again in the future. Easy order ahead online so we put the order in when still 30 minutes away.

Driving from California to Florida you have to try different barbecue! Luckily for my son and I we chose "Meat Boss" about 10minutes off the 10fwy near Mobile. I ordered the pulled butte with fries and baked beans. My son ordered the pulled chicken (same sides).... These baked beans were to die for! So hearty. They could have been the main dish. My pulled butte was tender and juicy. No fat. I had the Carolina and Spicy Carolina sauces on the side. Both were very good but I liked the Spicy more. My son devoured his sandwich. The fries (baked not fried) were very well done! Not soggy or overcooked. Not too salty. We started a conversation with LeeAnn. She was a sweetheart. Talk about Southern hospitality. When she found out we were driving from California to Florida for my Coastie son, she brought us some traditional Alabama sausage and the Alabama sauce to try. The best surprise was the candied burnt ends. Wow were they amazing. If you are ever anywhere near the South!!!! Take a trip to Meat Boss!

Meat boss was pretty good actually. The food was good, service was quick, and the overall vibe of the place was chill and. Nice.

We love coming to Meat Boss for some of the best BBQ around. The brisket is always tender, smoky, and full of flavor. But what really keeps us coming back is the rib candy--it's absolutely phenomenal! If you're a fan of BBQ, this place is a must-try. The quality of the food and the friendly service make it one of our regular go-to spots for bbq.

Way too much food for me and my husband but we wanted to try a little of everything! The sausage gravy is delicious! Pancakes are huge and so good! I did the conecuh breakfast wrap and got the sausage gravy to go with it. Will definitely be back next Saturday

OMG! This is the best bbq EVER! From the sauces to the buns... and the meat is perfectly cooked with a nick bark on it . It's moist and delicious. The staff is friendly and welcoming. We'll be back soon!

Best smoked meat on the Gulf Coast!!! Pulled port is wonderful. Pulled brisket is to DIE FOR!!! Love their white sauce. I am salivating as I write this just thinking about their delicious meats.

I'm a foodie so I like trying everything! All of the meats here are grilled to perfection!!! If you like spicy sides, the bake beans are for you! The mac m cheese is delicious and I love that they don't put the sauce on your me

Best BBQ. So many options but the process of ordering makes it easy plus the staff is so patient and helpful. You order your meat, what you wrap it in (bun, no bun, potato), sauce, and toppings, then your side. Have to agree with reviews get the brisket or pulled pork...delicious. For sides we had beans, mac n cheese, coleslaw, and banana pudding. All delicious. Beans had bits of meat, mac n cheese creamy, coleslaw great on sandwiches or by itself not to sweet and hubby said banana pudding was good and creamy. We will definitely be back. It can get busy but they are fast and it is worth the wait. They have also expanded the dining room. A must try. Sorry no pics of food. We forgot and were so hungry.

Just had the turkey breast combo w/Mac & cheese and banana pudding. OMG! So very good naked with plenty of spice and flavor; add the Carolina spice and delicious! Guy Fieri's Diners drive in's and dives approved too! Owner personally visited with guests! Nice and we will be back!

Geez, I'm not sure how this place gets such great reviews. The meat was ok but the sides were pathetic. Prices were very high I thought and the wait for our lunch was unreasonably long.

Amazing food. The ribs and pulled pork is smoked to perfection. The baked sweet spuds and boss beans are to die for. Their sauces are the best I've ever tasted. Most of all they aim to please with their food and their service. If something isn't right they MAKE IT RIGHT with no questions asked. They have a customer for life.

Visited back in April with no issues however today counter service was not helpful as we tried to order 2 meats and sides. They claimed they didn't hear us order the beans and potato salad so they counted 2 drinks as our sides. I bought BBQ many places mainly Texas home to the best in world and drinks are not a side. When I called to give feedback they justified their actions.

Best bbq in Mobile. Food quality is great. Prices match the quality. This is counter service. The dining area is very basic. You're not coming here for the atmosphere. (Most of my orders are to go). Be advised, they sell out of items quite often. If you have your heart set on something, consider ordering a day in advance. I like the ribs, the turkey, and the brisket.

Busy place with large menu. Had pulled pork on sweet bun and side of sausage. Great bbq sauce.
