"Opera You’ll Actually Enjoy Watching Chinese culture has had a tremendous influence on modern Taiwan , from language to customs to art. The mission of the TaipeiEye Foundation is to recognize this influence and to expose foreign guests to some of the more dramatic forms of Chinese high art. The specialty is the Chinese Opera regularly staged as a way to make this sometimes misunderstood performance style more relatable, especially to overseas guests. Before the show, the actors assemble in the lobby to apply their complicated makeup and costumes. During the live performance, the dialogue and even the songs are translated into multiple languages, including English. While not for everyone, the performances are the best way to better understand the fine art of Chinese Opera."

Brought my mum here. She enjoyed it very much, esp the pre-show segments/experience. Opera show comes with subtitles so it was really beneficial for non-chinese speaker. Wasn't crowded so we got a really good seat.

Amazing experience, come early to try pre show activities and stay a bit after for post show activities. The staff were all nice and spoke perfect English. The building is brand new and easy to find and also in a great location with plenty of restaurant nearby.

It was the best experience in Taipei. I wasn't expecting much but it was so beautiful and the people working there were so kind and polite. We didn't have advanced tickets but we were able to buy them about 1 hour before the show started. Since we were considered seniors, they gave us a great discount. During the show, they have side screens to show translation so we could follow the story. They let us wear costumes and took pictures, some actors showed how they put their makeup before the show, and some actors were available to take pictures with us after the show. Overall, it was a great experience. Highly recommended to anybody!!

Great experience. Professional dancers with a lot of talent. Reception staff super helpful and the show started right on time. Seats are first come first serve.

The show was not very good. Yes, there was some minimal gymnastic moves, but they just mimicked fighting over and over. It was like rinse & repeat. I couldn't wait for the show to end. I was so bored, I almost fell asleep. And the preshow activities were also very boring. You could dress up in a costume (which was kind of cool), use a roller stamp on two designs, color, watch people put make-up on and listen to music. It sounds much better than it really was. All the preshow activities take around 10 minutes. I wished I hadn't gone. I had bought the tickets, as they show a version of what looks like Peking Opera on the page. No opera. Misleading! There is barely singing, and it's certainly not operatic. Disappointing!

We found this as one of the recommended activities at night in Taipei. Overall it was an interesting experience. Although my mum was a little disappointed that we booked a Peking Opera show (mandarin chinese), instead of one that was performed in Taiwanese language. The show lasted approx. 2 hours. With english subtitles live.

Overall the whole show was more inclined to acrobatic. Not the typical Peking opera as there wasn't much opera dialogues & singing, more of stunts. Good performance & pre-show activities. Had the opportunity to wear the costumes for photo taking at the pre-show activity & managed to take photos with some of the casts after the show. Worth a visit if you are looking for a unique experience in Taipei.

Given the outstanding quality of the performance, it delivered far more than what we paid for. The entire production was breathtaking, from the dances and stage play to the choreography and music. Kudos to the performers and everyone involved with this! One of the best cultural experiences you can have in Taipei.
