"Plaza Botero At the center of Medellín, Plaza Botero gets its name from Colombian artist Fernando Botero, who donated 23 of his much-loved, disproportionate-bodied bronze sculptures to the city. There’s a huge chubby head, a reclining woman, and an oddly small man with a bowler hat riding a horse, plus good old Adam and Eve. The Museo de Antioquia abuts the plaza and houses other pieces by Botero as well as works by other artists. By day the square is vibrant and lively, but do take appropriate precautions after dark. Plaza Botero An iconic and unforgettable experience in the heart of Medellín. The art and history surrounding Plaza Botero are remarkable, with monumental sculptures that invite you to slow down and really observe. The area is lively and full of energy, with plenty of nearby shops, cafés, and places to grab food or a drink. It can get very crowded, especially in certain sections, so it may not be ideal for everyone. Also worth noting: afternoon rain showers can significantly impact traffic—Uber wait times increase and congestion builds quickly. Plan accordingly and go earlier in the day for the best experience.

A very lively area that offers a great local experience. The square is beautiful, with impressive large sculptures from Botero, and it’s easy to explore on foot or by bike. We visited twice: once on a bike tour and once on our own. The only downside is that it gets very crowded and unfortunately has a strong urine smell in many spots. We did not visit the museums unfortunately.

The statues are super cool to see and there are some restsurants aswell, but at the same tine I have never felt as unsafe as here in Colombia. There are prostitutes everywhere... male, female, trans, whatever you can think of, aswell as A LOT of homeless people. The look of many of the people and the location reminded me of Fallout, but the world of Fallout seemed friendlier

At Botero Park (Plaza Botero), there were many sculptures that lined the path that led to Museo de Antioquia – the first museum that we would be visiting this morning. You’ll be able to see alot of “Boteroism”-styled human and animal sculptures. For the human ones, they’d be normally naked. Not sure why. But the animal ones are so cute. Reminded us of the “Big Bird” at the Singapore River. Here, you’ll be able to see the horse, the cat and the dog. Think, it’s the first time we’re seeing the dog and it is rather cute as well. Our favourite is definitely the man on the horse which frames the architecture behind really well in a photograph. Think Botero thought about it when he made the statue along with the angle of which the viewer might see the statue. From our angle, we were able to see the man, faing the architecture behind. A beautiful shot. The Botero Plaza area is also full of live with many people plying their trade from ice cream trolleys to tours... Botero is really amazing artist, and to be in the Plaza it's really amazing. Just be careful with your belongings. On Sundays it is everything close, so you can have better photos and appreciate more the sculptures

A beautiful, bustling plaza with great food options and cultural experiences abounding. It isn’t the cleanest city park I’ve been to, but it is certainly worth a visit to stop by the surrounding museums and explore the adjacent markets.

It's a shame that Botero sculptures are placed in a park that is dirty, smells bad, there's trash on the ground, people under the influence of drugs speaking nonsense, prostitutes, etc. It simply feels unsafe and not appropriate for families with small children. It's a beautiful park that is being wasted. I've been many times to Medellín but we don't dare to visit the park unless we have men in our group. You don't feel safe unless your are in a group and several locals with you in order to feel protected. There was a robbery while we were there and it was a little uncomfortable to see people yelling and running in different directions. The municipality needs to clean this place and send policeman. Tourist are missing the chance to enjoy the Art of Botero because of fear of being robbed.
