On the Grid : Blue Bird Bistro

"Bluebird Bistro and it's bright yellow door is one of the original restaurants on Summit Street on the Westside. They make Mid American cuisine with locally sourced organic foods, most of it is a fancy version of comfort food. Their menu changes seasonally, their salads are great and their brunch is fantastic. It's the perfect spot to eat outside on a pretty day and people watch, you might even forget you are in the middle of the midwest for a bit. Make sure to save room for a cocktail or two and dessert, they are all great." - Rachel Sleeter

Google
My husband and I visited for our anniversary dinner and we were not disappointed. I’m dairy free so I usually search for vegan options. I had the mushroom and apple main dish with mash and vegan gravy and my husband had the ribeye. The steak was cooked perfectly and we divided our meals because both were so delicious. It’s rare that we prefer the vegan options and here we did. I also got a vegan desert and it was amazing too. Thanks for the wonderful dinner!

The atmosphere is slightly upscale, pleasant, and maybe a little more old fashioned. Cloth napkins and stemware. The food has been pretty good, and on specifically one or two occasions it was very good. The prices are a little on the higher side, the portions were reasonable, but you probably won't have leftovers. Not a frequent staple place in my rotation, but if you haven't been it is probably worth giving it a chance for a special occasion. They do a weekly community table, four course pre-fixe dinner with the owner. Including optional wine or mocktail pairings. Worth checking out for a special occasion if you are feeling social.

Read the reviews and was excited to experience a Victorian renovated restaurant. Not sure when it was renovated, but it's not what I was expecting. Had the biscuits and mushroom gravy. I wasn't ready for the heavy flavor of mushrooms. The bacon was delicious, and if you're there, definitely try the bacon. Full of strong pepper and maple flavor. My husband had chicken on biscuits and gravy his chicken wasn't cooked all the way. Service was good, the waitress was friendly.

Delicious, fresh, local farmers yummies, fun location, great service, lots of vegan options, lots of organic—this was my first time here and it’s a jewel in a cute neighborhood. Delicious brunch options, homemade jam, I got the Fancy pancakes w vegan butter and a biscuit w fresh jam. Yes.

Google
10/10 would recommend. We came in for my husband’s birthday with our 2 year who was having an off night. The staff were SO kind and understanding and put us at ease. The owner even brought out a little toy for her to play with. Food was excellent! We had deviled eggs, cheese curds, meatloaf, lions mane, and the bison burger. All wonderfully flavored and delicious. Atmosphere is super cute, laid back and the whole place is beautifully decorated. We’ll definitely be back!

Google
Definitely out of my comfort zone but thought I would try something different. Space is limited. You will be pretty crammed into your table touching your neighbors and hearing their conversations. Food is expensive and fancy. Home grown or vegan on everything listed. Water comes in a tequila bottle. No sweet wines were available.

Google
All I can say is WOW!! The vegan options are plentiful and the food is amazing. I got the tofu bowl with a side of vegan gravy. It was so good!! And they have mimosas! The server was super attentive and nice. My first restaurant in KC was a hit!

Google
If you’re looking for a spot where flavor meets sustainability, Blue Bird Bistro is the place to be. From the moment you walk in, the warm, inviting decor sets the tone—rustic charm with thoughtful touches that make the space feel both cozy and elegant. But it’s the organic food that truly steals the show. Every dish feels intentional, fresh, and full of flavor. You can tell the ingredients are thoughtfully sourced, and there’s a clear passion behind the preparation. Whether you’re vegan, vegetarian, or a devoted carnivore, there’s something here to satisfy. It’s rare to find a place where atmosphere and food work together this seamlessly. Highly recommend for a relaxed brunch, date night, or even just a solo meal to treat yourself.

Yelp
Ambience: Cute spot with unique decor and fall vibes Service: Friendly, no complaints! The waitress did a great job of explaining the menu and the most popular options. Taste: Tried the deviled eggs, catfish, bison brisket, oyster mushroom, and vegan orange cake. Deviled eggs were good, catfish was fantastic, bison brisket was dry and not very tender, and vegan orange cake had good flavor but was also a bit dry. Oyster mushroom was ok, not much flavor. Overall, good vegan / vegetarian options!

Yelp
I wanted so much better! I had eaten here more than a few years ago and remember having some of the best buffalo chili ever! For her birthday, Katie chose this one, specifically for the vibe. And that held up. But, I'm getting ahead of myself... here is the breakdown. The Food - Sadly, this is where I have the problem. And it is multifaceted. Portions are large, but the food quality is just so-so. You are also only getting part of the meal. I ordered the meatloaf. As you can see from the pictures, it came with a mushroom gravy on mashed potatoes. There was a small amount of microgreens sprinkled on top. And that is all. No veg. Katie got the Salmon, and it was on quinoa. Again, a few microgreens on top. The meatloaf was at best lackluster. And quite frankly, if it hadn't been for the potatoes and gravy, I probably wouldn't have liked it at all. Katie's salmon, reportedly, tasted fine, but she wasn't "wowed". And again, we have that struggle of a base starch/filler and nothing else. The food gets 1 star. The service - Ok, these people were friendly. Not overly, and they didn't do a bad job of making sure we were taken care of. Service gets 3 stars. And the Ambiance - Ok, this is where it gets bumped up. This is one of the cutest and neatest little cafe's and I recommend everyone who gets the opportunity to go to this place at least once. 7.5 stars for this! Here is the crux. It may have been an off night. I saw two staff members the whole time, and it was the Thursday before Halloween. I believe in this place and, after reading many other reviews, feel like giving it another try. You should too! Even if you are just grabbing a glass of wine and enjoying the neat little cafe!

Yelp
Ummm why is this place nearly empty on a Tuesday night? I get it, it's summer. But, like, they served me one of the best burgers of my life?! I don't get why the review average isn't much higher. I mean, I'm from LA so prices there are insane and comparatively this place was a huge discount but maybe it's high for this area since many of the complaints are about the prices. But the burger?! I haven't had a burger under $20 that good in years. Def get it with the white cheddar. I also got a side of roasted potatoes, which I wish were just a little crispier but they were still well-seasoned and tasty. Also, my Negroni was ON. POINT. Servers were friendly and I got the place to myself, sitting by the window, which I was both thrilled and sad about. My only issue was the menu said the beef burger was $16, and when I got the check, it listed it as $19. It was probably extra to add the cheese but it would be helpful if the additional price was listed clearly on the menu and separated out as a line item on the bill. However, if the burger is actually $19, they best reprint that menu ... I hope this place is busier on the weekends, or maybe when it's not summer, because an organic-focused, farm-to-table restaurant this cute in Los Angeles would be easily 20-40% more expensive. Support this restaurant and their efforts. You'll be bummed if they close and a dumb Jersey Mike's opens in their place.

Yelp
Such a cute place. We had great service for having a bigger party. The food was good but all of it came out cold which was a bummer because the taste was great but would have been amazing if warm. I hope to come back and try again soon!

Carol Q.

Yelp
Food is locally sourced with organic and vegetarian options, drinks are delicious, service attentive and convivial. Excellent choice for a romantic evening.

Yelp
Blue Bird Bistro is a delightful farm-to-table restaurant with a lovely ambiance and tasty food. The restaurant is beautiful -- cozy, low-lit, rustic, and charming. Especially look down at the beautiful tile flooring. This is a great place for a romantic evening date, but it's also a fun and bright breakfast spot for a weekend. Definitely don't need a breakfast reservation, I was the only diner for a while around 9:15 am. The dinner menu is a little fancy with some expensive options, but breakfast and lunch are more accessible. The lemony hollandaise on the generous half order of salmon Benedict was delicious, and the French toast was a perfect sweet treat for the end of the meal. The employees were all attentive and helpful and kind! Parking in Westside can be a challenge, but enjoy your walk through the beautiful neighborhood if you have to park a block away.

Yelp
I've been a customer and fan for years!! Everytime I go back I have a wonderful experience. This time, I had the delicious deviled eggs, bison brisket, and famous vegan orange cake. The eggs are decadent and the filling is fluffy with a bold taste. The biggest problem is you don't get enough! The seasonal bison brisket is a new favorite. So juicy, so tender, so flavorful! The sauce is something else. Perfect blend of spiced and a hint of sweet. The orange cake was new to me but not to BBB. Sweet flavors and a great texture. The chocolate sauce on top makes it so good! The service is always top notch and the place is so cute. Great for any meal, date night, or a gathering with a friend! You won't regret it!

Shirley C.

Yelp
Lunch time on a Friday and only two people there (us). Eventually another couple showed up with their son and one girl at the bar. The bison was tough and they had no grass fed beef available. My friend was told after ordering that the grass fed beef was not available! They should have known that from the beginning! Never going back. Sad, it was great many years ago.

Sofia G.

Yelp
I wanted to like this place. But wow it was not a good first experience. They have Sunday brunch which is what we came for. They were out of bacon, salmon, tomatoes and syrup!! Our order was affected by this...French toast was ordered we weren't told about being out of maple syrup until after we put in the order and got our food. They didn't sub a meat for the frittata just said we are out of bacon it is what it is basically. Service could have been better. We had to get up to go find coffee for a refill, forks, more water. I wouldn't recommend.

Yelp
Awesome pizza! The crust was chewing and bubbly. Sooo delicious. We all loved the ambiance. I'll be back!

Yelp
Great vegan options, the blackened smoked tofu and oyster mushroom dishes were delicious!

Yelp
A staple, in my opinion, of Kansas City dining. The music choice always seems right, the quality is consistent, and somehow, even when making mistakes from time to time, this place manages to win you over. Whether on a group outing or an intimate tête-à-tête you owe it to yourself to enjoy a pleasent evening here.

Stuart W.

Yelp
We have not been to the Blue Bird Bistro for several years and we realized why. It has gone downhill significantly. The food was awful. I had the meatloaf and it was tasteless and the gravy resembled wallpaper paste in its look and flavor. The bruschetta was slimy and served on wilted bread. The menu was limited and repetitive. The staff were not very familiar with the menu and lacked energy. We will probably never go to this restaurant again and that is very sad because we used to like it a lot. There are many other better op nearby.

Kelsey L.

Yelp
Amazing farm to table with wonderful staff, a must-dine in KC! The environment is so charming in a historic building
google avatar

Christine C.

Yelp
The appetizers were delicious (we got like six different kinds) and they poured strong drinks. I had a blackened tofu, but I'd get something else next time. They had a good variety of vegan, vegetarian, and meat dishes so no one gets left behind.
google avatar

Natalie H.

Yelp
This is a lovely Kansas City restaurant! The service is always welcoming and friendly. There's seating in the front half of the restaurant and in the back room of the restaurant. I recommend making reservations and visiting with a smaller group (2-4) since there is limited seating. On my recent visit, we ordered the hummus platter, catfish bites, and espresso martinis. Like I said, the restaurant is quaint and calm, it's a lovely ambiance.
google avatar

Madison G.

Yelp
This place was...ok. They didn't come by for the first 15 minutes (no water or coffee on table) and then after they gave us our food they didn't come by for about an hour. The food was mediocre--all 4 of us agreed. Coffee was good and it's in a very nice location, but other than that I honestly can't think of any other good things. I'd skip this place and go to another option if I had to do it again.
google avatar

Leila W.

Yelp
Had great reviews but was frustrated with our experience. Took a very long time to get our drinks. They all came and random times and one of the drinks came at the very end of the meal. It was ordered when we came in.Drink was half full as were most of the cocktails and charged full price. Unfortunate experience but hopefully not the usual experience here. Took a very long time for every part of the visit. Wait was very long, time for drinks, food, etc.

Yelp
We dined in here on a Saturday night for KC Restaurant Week. We've been here several times before and it's always been a good experience. They have a plethora of vegan, vegetarian and gluten free items at all times. We ordered a bottle of Malbec which paired nicely with our food. My wife had the $55 option with the sweet potato soup, stuff mushrooms, grass fed beef tenderloin and the vegan chocolate dream cake. I sampled all of her items (except meat--I'm a vegetarian) and I really enjoyed the sweet potato soup. I'm not a chocolate person, but I did find the cake quite tasty as well. My wife said the tenderloin was good, but it didn't knock her socks off. I chose the $40 option with the Blue Bird salad, which contains bleu cheese. I'm not a fan of the moldy cheeses, and I don't remember reading on the menu about it, although that could be my fault. For my second course, I had the vegan veggie loaf which has a base of black beans. It was tasty but came out a little cold. In retrospect, I probably should have chosen the nettle pasta, but I wanted to give the vegan loaf a try. For my third course, I had the chestnut cake, which, in my opinion, was the best part of my meal. I'm not a huge sweets person, but I devoured it! Our service was decent and Blue Bird always has a nice ambience to it. They have a nice wine list and a good drink menu as well. It's a great place for a date night or to take friends who have dietary restrictions.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch for the first time and was impressed. Good service and ambiance. I ordered the chicken sandwich and roasted potatoes and everything was delicious. Will definitely be back to try more.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this place for a belated birthday dinner! We went on a Monday night and there were only two other full tables - it was nice because the place is sort of on the small side. The decor is homey and cozy and super cute! I got the catfish piccata which was solidly good but not mindblowing. I wish it had come with vegetables other than a small side of cooked greens. My partner got the pork with jalapeño cornbread and oh my gosh that was mouthwatering and delightful!! The portions are HUGE and we ended up taking a lot home. We also got the cheese curds appetizer and that was a great suggestion by our server. I really wanted to get a dessert as they all looked amazing and so unique! But we were totally stuffed to the brim. Overall I would absolutely dine here again, it seems like a lovely place to take your parents, and I'd love to try their brunch and desserts someday.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a relaxing restaurant in a hip area. The food is consistently delicious. High quality food is served here. We went on Monday afternoon. The restaurant was slow so service was excellent. We had breakfast. The sausage was very good. The home fries could use a little more flavor. If you are hungry for great food in a soothing environment, this is a place to go. I have been many times. I will continue to come back.
google avatar

Rob S.

Yelp
I stopped in about 3pm, so a bit early (but the benefit of getting lunch prices!). It's a seasonal, local market restaurant and I had high hopes. Unfortunately, while the server was friendly enough--the food was kinda meh. The eggs and salad were fairly decent, the salmon was way overcooked (so it was rather tough and dry and it wasn't as flavorful as it should have been) although the veggies were pretty good. The beet cake was interesting but they forgot the basil sauce until I asked--plus, it really needed some other flavors to balance with the rather bland cake (perhaps, rather than a dollop of cream, some vanilla bean ice cream and a bit of tang to the sauce).

Yelp
Great place for dairy free and vegan options. 2 nd visit looking forward to vegan orange cake
google avatar

Yelp
A few friends and I went to brunch at Blue Bird Bistro and were pleasantly surprised. The food was tasty, the service was excellent, and the ambiance was spot on. It's a rustic, farm-to-table experience with excellent options.
google avatar

Yelp
People always talk about West Side, but This was my first visit. And Blue Bird Bistro made an amazing first impression!! The food was amazing, the ambiance was friendly and full of like. We sat in the back room and the sun filtered through the skylight... is would be perfect for photos! Sadly, I didn't take any because I was too busy enjoying myself. I ordered the Chicken & Biscuit and my friend went crazy by ordering both the biscuit and gravy AND the French toast. Way too much food but we had a hard time stopping because it was all so delicious. They do have vegan friendly options as well, which is always impressive. I'll have to try the tofu scramble next time!

Yelp
I met some work friends here for breakfast last week, and it was my first visit to Blue Bird Bistro! We needed a place in midtown to accommodate folks from all over town. Not gonna lie - it was pretty difficult to find a place open for breakfast in midtown early in the week! So, that was BBB's first win: being OPEN! Since we were a medium-sized party, I made a reservation ahead of time, and they were very accommodating to the ask. I know the location pretty well, having been to a couple other restaurants within a few feet of here, so I was a little worried about the parking situation. Good news - on Tuesday mornings, it's MUCH easier to find street parking up here than on the weekends!! I know, I know...big surprise. But, it was definitely a relief! When we walked in, I was quite surprised to find only one other party seated for breakfast. That's when it hit me: that must be the reason almost no places are open in midtown for breakfast on a weekday - nobody shows! What's up, midtown folks? Is everyone intermittent fasting? So...we pretty well had the place to ourselves! They sat us in a back room area that was super cute, and looked like it would make a nice area for even larger parties! I would have to say that historic charm and character are this place's strong suits, for sure! The menu has a lot of options, most of which are locally sourced and organic! I wanted to embrace the approach, so went with the Tofu Scramble, which was really delicious! The side biscuit was probably my favorite part of the meal, but the side of potatoes were the letdown. I won't venture a guess to the reason, but there was an odd taste to the potatoes, so after a couple bites, I had to leave the rest behind. The coffee was also a bit of a letdown. It certainly wasn't bad, but I have really high expectations for places that serve breakfast with regard to coffee! BBB's was just...fine. Box checked. Most folks at our table were happy with their selections, and those ranged from sweet to savory! Our waitress was awesome - kind, responsive and prompt! Prices are another bright spot - for what you get between quality and quantity, I would say that the value here is pretty strong! If you're looking for breakfast in midtown, open for business on weekday mornings, with good food and great charm - this could be a great option! Food = 3/5 Facility = 4/5 Service = 4/5 Ambiance = 5/5 Value = 4/5

Yelp
I visited Blue Bird on a recent visit to KC. I had not been there during the years I lived in KC, but I'd always heard good things. I found myself staying in an Airbnb walking distance from Blue Bird and BF and I decided to try it out. We went for breakfast on a weekday morning and basically had the place to ourselves. The atmosphere is shabby chic and quite charming. The service was good and friendly. We tried to order Trout and Eggs, but alas, they were out so we both tried a breakfast bowl. I added eggs and he added house made sausage. I was impressed by the mushroom gravy and pretty much cleaned up my generous serving. We also found the heart shaped biscuits to be adorkable. It was especially gratifying to see so many hearty veggie options on the menu. I'd certainly return to try more things when in town.

Stephen B.

Yelp
We always enjoy eating here. The dishes have great flavor. Tonight my friend had the Catfish. Yum! I had the Trout which was extremely good. The Vegan Orange Cake is one or our favorite desserts. If you have not tried The Blue Bird Bistro do it!

Yelp
beautiful building, friendly service, and some of the very BEST french toast in town. don't miss out on this lovely gem in the westside. #boyswhobrunchkc

Steve M.

Yelp
Aside from the bartender, the meal was a waste of calories and I'm not even counting. I had the salmon which consisted of piece of salmon on a bed of couscous. No sauce of any kind. No vegetables. Not even a garnish. The moisture level of which reminded one of the Mojave. My wife had the polenta and roasted veggies, which consisted of a square of spongy, unseasoned polenta with a very sparse and odd cadre of vegetables. For the price, it was a very disappointing outing.
google avatar

Kevin B.

Yelp
My business partner took me here for breakfast - super cool spot with a homey vibe and feel! We discussed business over mimosas, chicken liver and split a bison burger with their oven roasted potatoes and homemade ketchup. If you're ever in KCMO, check them out!
google avatar

Emily K.

Yelp
Decided to come here with some friends last minute after the wait for Westside Local was quoted at an hour for a Thursday night! We were seated immediately in the back room - super cute ambiance and lighting, looks great for a date night. The service was quick, no issues and our server answered all of our questions easily! I got the crispy tofu sandwich with roasted potatoes and it was delicious. Awesome texture on the tofu and the ciabatta bread was so crunchy and toasty. My friends got the chicken dinner and bison burger, both of which looked good. I would definitely come back to try the brunch recommendations I'm seeing in so many other reviews!

Yelp
Came to try KC Restaurant Week lunch specials. I have been here many years ago and forgot how cute it is. It was fairly busy on a Wednesday at 1 with a cute meeting place feel! We sat in the back room which has great natural light. Service was immediate. The salad was not over dressing ( which I really don't like) and the pecans were abundant. It was a girls lunch so we splurged and tried the bubbles Hibiscus... great color, light and just slightly sweet. Very very quickly ( a few bites into the salad) the piping hot meatloaf arrived. Finishing the salad allowed the fish to cool as it was steaming. The meatloaf was a bit dry but a decent portion size, poached egg on top with mushroom gravy was an interesting but complementary addition all on smashed potatoes. As it was cold out finally the home style meal felt perfect. The flavors were not as vibrant as they good have been but it was a good dish. The monster cookie was oatmeal I believe. Big but thin & chewy. Overall I enjoyed my meal and want to come back and try some of the breakfast offerings. Parking is all on the street where you can find it.
google avatar

Haley M.

Yelp
The atmosphere was very warm and inviting. I loved the eclectic touches. Our server was able to provide fun facets about some of their cocktails which was fun. The food was good but often under seasoned leaving something to be desired.

Stephanie C.

Yelp
We've been coming here over 25 years and it's just as delicious. I love the owners desire to serve fresh local goods. I had the fancy cakes make with beets. Holy wow!!!! Amazing. I no longer live in KC but visit blue bird every every time I come through.
google avatar

Jim T.

Yelp
One of the best omelets I have ever eaten. Try the sausage. It was the best part. Do yourself a favor and stop by for breakfast. I also enjoyed the heart-shaped biscuit which had the consistency of a scone. Tasty. Good service and the coffee was good and came often for refills.
google avatar

Brenda A.

Yelp
No visit to Iowa City is complete without breakfast or lunch at the Blue Bird Bistro. This time we arrived around noon and so it was lunch for me. The BLT was delicious. My dining companion had an omelet and cleaned their plate. Worth the wait for a table!
google avatar

Joyce C.

Yelp
I'm sorry to say that this is probably one of the worst brunch places I've ever been to. The staff is very kind but sometimes I feel like they're a little aloof. The waitress brought out a different tables order at first and then they served me a completely wrong dish (i asked for eggs benedict and got biscuits and gravy). The cheese curds were just way too salty for starters. The blackened chicken was plain and did not have that much flavor. The strangest of all was the classic eggs benedict. It was probably the weirdest flavor profile ever. The bacon tasted off, the cheese was sour, and there was no flavor to the hollandaise sauce. The egg was cooked fine but thats all I could say about it. Also $4 for a 6 oz glass of OJ is absolutely ridiculous It was a weird overall experience and for the price I expected a lot more from them

Warner A.

Yelp
I ordered the blackened chicken it was a nothing special I wouldn't recommend it but the salmon on the other hand was delicious the fish was cooked perfectly and there bread that came with the dish was amazing. The service was great I asked our waitress what she thought of a certain item on the dessert menu and she gave me her honest opinion, which I appreciated very much. The restaurant had a very nice vibe and I would come back.

Miles H.

Yelp
This place provided such a wonderful atmosphere for Valentine's Day! The service was friendly, drinks were amazing and the food was fairly good. The food, as many reviews point out, was slightly under salted, not under seasoned. Once I added salt to my dish, it really popped! The true highlight of the night was the vegan orange cake for dessert. It was very, complex, and delicious. Highly recommend this place for the cute atmosphere , friendly service, and delicious organically sourced food.

Yelp
WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS PLACE!?!? So disappointed! Blue Bird Bistro has long been a regular stop in for the past 15 years I've lived in Kansas City.... Today nailed the coffin shut. Arriving late morning for a spot of brunch, we found our experience disappointing from the start. Considering it is July in the Midwest one would hope a restaurant would have a bit of air moving around.... Nope. No AC, no fans, literally sweat rolling down our faces at the table. Service is lackluster, at best. The entire experience we saw our waitress three times. Always within view, never at the table. We gave up on beverage or coffee refills. Food was a mediocre and unpleasant experience. Our orders were both wrong. However, after a 45 minute wait for our food, we chose to eat the cold entrees we were served. My Salmon Benedict was served with 10 mini bites of potatoes, on a tiny plate with only 1/2 and order - not what I ordered. It further was cold, the egg was poached hard with a burned English Muffin. Best part, it was $15 for this tragedy of a meal. Fortunately, our waitress was so absent, I had the time to write this entire review while watching her hang out and sit at the bar. Very unfortunate to see this place just tragically disappoint in every way possible. Better luck next time but not quite sure there will be a next time. For now, skip it. So many other WONDERFUL KC restaurants just around the corner to enjoy. This isn't one of them.

Yelp
Enjoyed a really lovely dinner at Blue Bird Bistro before heading to a show at the Kauffman. We arrived early and it was very low-key (but cute!) inside, which just allowed for great service and quick delivery of our drinks and food. I had the polenta, which was delicious and simple. My son had the chicken sandwich and reported the bottom bun was soggy...so it might have been finished ahead of the other entrees. The salmon appetizer was a beautiful presentation. Dessert was a chocolate tart that was amazing. Going back soon to try the many other enticing options on the menu.

Yelp
The atmosphere is perfect. The food is ok $21 for the salad that was 5/10 and barely had anything on it. I really wanna love it!

Yelp
The French toast with pecan butter was amazing, servers attentive, and the quaint decor made breakfast so cozy.

Yelp
I will tell you I'm not one to complain ever and I only write good reviews. We took our daughter (for her birthday) and son-in-law to Blue Bird Bistro for lunch/brunch today and It was quite an unpleasant experience. 1) First we get there and waiting for a long time we asked for coffee. There was not coffee available at noon on a Sunday for some reason. No coffee? So then we ask for hot tea. They bring us one bag each and we wait a long time for our hot water. Finally it comes. 2) We order our food and there were many mistakes in our order. No breakfast potatoes or biscuit for two of the orders that said they were included. So we asked for potatoes and were charged more for them. All of our food was cold when it came to the table - not even luke warm. 3) It was our daughter's birthday and they said a dessert was complimentary, but they charged us $11 for not a good dessert. We were so done at that point we just wanted to get out of there so we just paid and left. 4) We asked for one bill since we were treating our daughter and son-in-law and our waitress brought two. We paid the two bills, but it was the icing on the cake. Haha. We will never go there again. Probably should have made a bigger deal of things while we are there, but that is not our temperament. It was obvious they were having staffing, food or personal issues going on that didn't make for a good brunch. I wish them luck, but we'll not go again!

Yelp
The ambiance and service are excellent. I really appreciate the vegetarian options. However, on the Benedict, the hollandaise sauce should be creamy. I understand that this is a challenging sauce to make, but it can be done without using ready-made powders. Also, the onions were not caramelized, but a bit on the raw side.

Yelp
I loved the old building, but I wasn't thrilled with the food. I don't usually order tofu, so perhaps that was the reason. I will probably try it again, but mostly for breakfast.

Yelp
The price for the portions here just don't make it a good value for me. The aesthetic is nice, and the location is great, but I wouldn't go back a third time.
