"Shanghai's Hollywood Make the trek out to Shanghai Film Studio for two reasons: 1) to wander Shanghai's Hollywood equivalent and stroll through the sets of some of China's most famous films (such as "Lust, Caution"), and 2) to experience an older, preserved version of Shanghai, sans traffic and millions of pedestrians. Tip: Stop in for lunch at Talking Land Cafe for a chance at bumping into a famous film star. Ooh la la. By AFAR Traveler , AFAR Local Expert"

6 secret, underrated places in Shanghai to visit - SilverKris

"This working film and television studio doubles as an amusement park that recreates 1930s Shanghai in astonishing detail, featuring a full-scale replica of Nanjing Road with the five-storey Sincere Company department store, retro storefronts, cobblestone streets and inlaid tram tracks. Originally built for Chen Kaige’s 1996 film Temptress Moon and reused in productions such as Ang Lee’s Lust, Caution, the site also contains replicas of old-town streets, European courtyards and Suzhou Creek; visitors can take tram tours, browse large Costume and Prop Exhibition Halls and watch film stunt demonstrations." - Vanessa Tai

My friend Sylvia took us to this place. He has a really good knowledge about history. It's super famous studio in Shanghai. This film is so famous in Southeast Asia for decades. My friend bought me the hat and so many people wants to borrow it to take pictures. Yayyyy!

I enjoyed walking around for 2.5 hours (including a short break). It isn't a theme park, it isn't a museum. It is a little run down but they are making new buildings, I may go back in a year or more.

A nice place to hangout a day in Shanghai. However, I really wish that more doors opened with something interesting in it instead of trash. The entry costs 80 Yuan which is not so bad.

There are many old cars and backdrops of Shanghai as well as old ad boards scattered around the park. There are also extras and actors taking part in scenes during our visit. There are even old military vehicles in hangars and old movie posters and even an old metal ship. It was the best part of the park, watching the crew work and photographers snapping photos. The place mimics old Shanghai streets with its trams, building facades and old brick streets. It is a taxi ride from the nearest metro station so it isn't very accessible from public transport.

Shanghai Film Park offers a glimpse into Chinese cinema with film sets, shows, activities & a museum. Explore movie scenes, watch live performances, learn filmmaking history & more. Great for movie buffs & culture enthusiasts! Allow extra time for crowds, especially on weekends.
