Vegan Mahanakhon

It's in this beautifully restored 120-year-old teakwood colonial-style house on Arun Amarin Road, right near Wat Arun. The ambience feels so elegant and peaceful – perfect for a chill vegan meal in the Old Town area. We started with the mixed dim sum platter. It looked absolutely gorgeous when it arrived, with a nice variety of steamed and deep-fried dumplings to try. Taste-wise, they were decent – nothing bad at all – but they lacked that real depth of flavour I was hoping for. The steamed ones were pretty to look at, but the wrappers felt a bit too thick and there wasn't enough filling inside. The deep-fried options were enjoyable, though still missing something to make them pop. For mains, my pad thai was solid – tasty and satisfying in its vegan version. The green curry was actually really good – rich, aromatic, and well-balanced. The vegan pork belly was interesting with a nice texture (chewy-crisp in the right way), and the flavour was okay, but the crispy garlic on top was way too bitter for me. I think if they'd added some onions or something to balance it, it would've been much better. Service was excellent – super friendly and attentive – and the whole vibe made the meal feel special. The menu has tons more dishes I want to try, so I'd definitely go back next time I'm in Bangkok. Overall, it was a nice experience and I don't regret going at all. The setting alone is worth it, and the food is good... it just needs a little more bold flavour and depth to take it to the next level. I'd give it a solid 7.5 out of 10.

I had an amazing experience dining here. The spices and flavors in every dish were absolutely delectable. Truly the best meal I’ve had in Thailand so far. The vegan chicken with cashews was outstanding (you wouldn'teven say it's vegan based on the taste) - a must try! I also loved the watermelon smoothie, which was refreshing and perfectly balanced. The atmosphere was super classy, beautiful, and welcoming, and the staff were kind and attentive. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for flavorful, satisfying food in Bangkok!

We came here on our last night in Bangkok. It’s quite far out and an effort to get to. We hadn’t made a reservation but managed to secure a table as it was early evening. I knew it was vegan and so did my friend. We both liked it and the restaurant is high end. All the fruit and vegetables were v high quality and fresh and beautifully presented. The aubergine dishes were particularly good. There mangoes were so sweet and juicy. The pudding had salted coconut milk so I wasn’t so sure about whether I liked that. The servers are all in black and we are given slippers as we have to take off our shoes. An experience and we were both full afterwards. We wouldn’t go again (though I would with my vegetarian friends) but we enjoyed it. We asked it to not be too spicy and it was perfectly balanced in terms of flavour. It all feels v professional and I’m missing some of the warmth and hospitality and smiley faces I’ve become accustomed to. A beautiful environment to enjoy a beautiful meal.

One of the best meals ever omg! We went with 6 people and ordered a feast and every dish that came out was 10/10 perfection! I can’t believe how perfect everything was from atmosphere to staff to food. There is even a cat to greet you! Also my husband has celiac and everything is labeled for gluten and they took extra care for our meal. It was very reassuring and delicious and he felt very safe eating here. Everyone needs to eat here!

Vegan Mahanakhon is truly one of the best and most authentic restaurants in Bangkok for vegan Thai food. From the moment you walk in, you can feel the care and attention they put into creating a unique dining experience. The flavors are rich, fresh, and beautifully balanced every dish we tried was a delight. It’s the kind of place that makes you appreciate how delicious and satisfying vegan food can be. The atmosphere is calm and inviting, perfect for both casual meals and special occasions. In fact, we already decided to celebrate our upcoming anniversary here because the experience feels so memorable and meaningful. A small but important note: don’t forget to take off your shoes before entering! The restaurant provides slippers for guests, which adds to the cozy and homely charm. We loved everything about this place! Upon arrival it feels as though you are arriving to somebody’s home. You are asked to leave your shoes on the shoe rack on the porch before entering the beautiful clean Colonial style teakwood home. The entrance is adorned with flowers and each table had yellow orchids. We were given complimentary jasmine water from beautiful ornamental metal cups. We highly recommended the starter platter served on a gold cake stand. We were able to try a bit of everything, they were all delicious. Our favourites were the pandan leaf vegan chicken and noodle ball pork. We had a sour fish soup to share following this and wish we had room to try more because everything was AMAZING!! Vegan Mahanakhon is an absolute gem in Bangkok. The food is full of flavour and the environment feels warm, calm and welcoming. Their chicken with cashews and their khao soi are my absolute favourites, both dishes are rich, comforting and perfectly balanced. Their thai coffee deserves a special shoutout!! And the desserts are truly amazing with the perfect sweetness and texture 😋 Their other dishes are fantastic as well, each one made with so much care and authentic Thai flavour. If you’re looking for the best vegan Thai food in Bangkok, definitely consider Vegan Mahanakhon. It’s a spot you’ll want to come back to again and again!

The restaurant itself is stunning and located inside a beautifully restored 120-year-old teakwood house filled with fresh flowers. The food is perfect. In there, my favorites were the beautiful blue flower dumplings and the "chicken" wrapped in pandan leaves. For mains, the stir-fried chicken with cashew nuts was simple but flavourful, and the Pad Thai was also spot-on as well. Make sure you order dessert as well. Their mango sticky rice was one of the best I've had. They top it with thin slices of fresh coconut meat which adds this amazing texture to the sweet mango and creamy sticky rice. Although the price is on the higher-side for Bangkok, for the quality and the experience, it is absolutely worth it.
