Obviously had to try the famous affogato! Definitely WORTH THE HYPE! 😍 I was told the right way to eat it is that you don’t mix it, you take ice cream and dip the spoon in the expresso. The balance of flavors is amazing. The ice cream is creamy, rich, not too sweet but sweet enough to contrast the strong flavor of the expresso which is very concentrated here but as I said, has great balance together. I wish I could have this back home!! I’m gonna be thinking about affogato until my next trip to Florence. Don’t miss this spot. I tried both the original and the pistachio one, I liked the original better, but both are good

Vivoli Il Gelato in Florence is an absolute classic and a true symbol of traditional Italian gelato. The atmosphere is simple and always busy, with the charm of a historic place that puts the focus exactly where it should be the gelato. Service is quick and straightforward, matching the rhythm of the shop. The highlight is the affogato, where hot espresso poured over creamy gelato creates a perfectly balanced contrast between bitterness and sweetness. The gelato itself is rich well crafted and full of flavor easily living up to its worldwide reputation. We spent four days in Florence and went there four times which says everything about how good it is.

We tried their classic affogato after seeing it highly recommended on TikTok. There was quite a long queue when we arrived, which set high expectations. The affogato was good and enjoyable, but we thought the taste was something you could find elsewhere without having to queue.

Just wow. This affogato is indescribably delicious. The baked goods are flaky and perfect. The gelato is a winner amongst winners. I came here throw joking I a row to start my day off right! The young man at the register, Lorenzo, is a great friendly way to start the day! He is so personable and nice. Thanks for making my civility experience so memorable, Lorenzo. Excellent job. Also, a big thank you to the one and only Phil Rosenthal for leading me to this gem amongst gems! I’ll be dreaming of this affogato for the rest of my natural life.

Really good. We got there on Thursday around 11 and I was happy to see no line. They only have 2 flavors of affogato, vanilla and pistachio. And the pistachio was really good. One star less since the person at the counter wasn’t a very happy person.

I thought this place might be a bit overrated when I saw that there was a long line and it started giving me recommendations from IG influencers but I was glad to be proven wrong! The gelato affogato was delicious. Perfect mix of sweet vanilla gelato with semi bitter espresso for an afternoon snack. The place is so good I went twice. Their gelato was delicious too! I recommend the millefoglie flavor which is an Italian wedding cake. There is a line that wrapped around the block when I went but it moves quite quickly probably like 10 minutes wait. We loved the pistachio affogato! Classic was good too but preferred the salty nutty flavour with the sweet vanilla gelato. Great location across from a Ukrainian Catholic Church which was playing some lovely music. We enjoyed a coffee sitting on the curb on the street with everyone else. Was a pleasant atmosphere.

Best affogato in the world. We are returning for many years, it’s always the highest quality. The original is the best, but we love to try flavor of the month. The perfect boost of energy after long walks through magnificent Firenze
