Went early to avoid long lines, and though there was already a queue, we got in within a few minutes. So tip: be early.
The staff noticed we were tourists and immediately gave us English menus, though I already knew what I wanted, the first one, the breakfast set! The eggs and toast were delicious, defo the highlight. Love the milk tea as well♡ However, I couldn't finish the macaroni soup with ham as the place became crowded and my friends felt a bit pressured by the waiters constantly watching us, waiting for us to finish zehahaha.
l've told my friends beforehand about cha
chaan teng culture, that it's quick, efficient, and you're really expected to eat fast. You don't really linger or have time for chit-chat, which may surprise some, but it's all part of the local experience. If you're not aware of the process you might think the waiters are rude, but no, they're not. They just don't have time to waste. Since I was aware of this, I was fine with the pace and loved getting to try this classic Hong Kong breakfast. I myself was a bit scared before, but after visiting Hong Kong in 2018, I understood it and now love experiencing it.
The speed at which the food arrived was impressive! Everything was served within minutes! Defo a must visit if you want an authentic Hong Kong breakfast, but be ready for the rapid pace! XD
So yeah, more tips. Don't go in without knowing what you want. Just order quickly. You can google the menu in advance, but if you want the breakfast set, it's the first option on the menu. They'Il give you an English menu, so just point and order quickly. They'll ask about your eggs, fried or scrambled, and whether you want coffee or milk tea, so choose quickly. Don't chit-chat too much so they won't take your plates, thinking you're done eating zehahaha ^o^
It's not every day I get to experience and try a Hong Kong cha chaan teng, so despite the fast pace, it's still a special memory for me♡
