Technopolis City of Athens

This was actually "Dinner in the Sky." This is where you're strapped in a chair, kinda like an amusement ride, then the entire table with the chef and wait staff are hoisted up in the air. They offer a welcome drink prior to seating if you get there early. It's all-inclusive while tip is extra. The food was delicious, and the fixed menu was great and perfectly paired with the local wine. I actually thought it was just a bit too much food, and my wife thought it was definitely too much food as she couldn't even eat dessert. The views from the top are amazing, and the entire table rotates slowly so that every person will have that perfect pic with the acropolis in the background.

From open-air concerts and electronic music festivals to exhibitions, markets, conferences, and children’s events, Technopolis offers something for every interest and age. One of its standout features is the Industrial Gas Museum, the only one of its kind in Greece, which offers an immersive journey through Athens’ industrial past. Walking among old machinery and furnaces while learning about the gas factory’s operation is both educational and unique. The venue is accessible, well-maintained, and offers modern amenities without compromising its historical ambiance. There are plenty of cafés and food trucks during major events, and the open courtyards are perfect for relaxing with friends, even when no events are scheduled. Technopolis also plays a major role in Athens’ annual cultural life, hosting the Athens Technopolis Jazz Festival, the Athens Science Festival, and many more. The acoustics and lighting setup are generally excellent for outdoor performances, although sometimes overcrowding can be an issue during peak events. Its central location makes it easily reachable by metro, bus, or even on foot from Monastiraki or Thissio. The surrounding area of Gazi is also full of restaurants, bars, and nightlife options, making Technopolis a great starting point or end to a fun evening out. In short, Technopolis is a symbol of how Athens can successfully fuse its history with innovation. It’s a must-visit destination for those interested in arts, history, or urban regeneration.

Cool place, I stumbled upon it by chance and enjoyed the rock/metal festival. Not too big, well organized, with plenty of spots to grab food or drinks (for the event, not sure about other days). I’ll remember it fondly.

A nice little gem to discover history of the technology from the times of Industrial Revolution. A nice shop with cool Athenian designer pieces resembling modern art museum. Good spot to lunch, and walk about as it’s central in Kerameikos district. You can find a vinyl record store there. Industrial feel. Alternative.

Beautiful setting for fairs, exhibitions, art events or just a walk around

A very good place to promote culture and support the various interactions with the youth. Progressiveness is apparent and interesting exhibitions are taking place as also musical events and of course not only. Social weirdness is essential in order art and culture to be sustained. Technopolis is that place to be.

Many European cities nowadays have former industrial buildings converted to 'cool' arts and entertainment spaces - this is the Athenian version, a former gasworks site from the 19th century. I visited on a regular evening, from what I gathered, the site serves as a museum + cultural venue. It has a specific vibe, I found it interesting, even if everything was mostly closed. The whole surrounding area, Gazi, is full of quirky bars, restaurants, theatres, and adult entertainment venues - especially gay ones, if that's your thing. It is an interesting part of Athens, also easily accessible from the centre by metro or even by walking. Gazi area used to be home for gasworks staff, and, allegedly, was known for its lively vibe already back in the day.
