Hello Nori - York St

Service was amazing, the staff were friendly and welcoming, and the hand rolls are made in front of you. However, it’s really not worth the price since everything is tiny yet super expensive. Hello Nori is extremely hyped up despite the menu was super basic, it just feels like a cash grab for tourists. You’re paying for the atmosphere and vibe of the restaurant, not so much for the food. You can definitely get much better (and authentic) sushi options elsewhere in Toronto.

Hello Nori is a great place if you want a few hand rolls or sushi to eat. I love that the Nori is warm when they serve it to you. It's also so crispy. Service is always so nice!

Atmosphere is very nice and the staff are very attentive. The seating is bar style and the place is very busy so if you come with a large group, you might have to wait a whole to get a seat. The food is amazing though. I ordered the 5 piece set and my favourite was the buttered scallop hand roll with the truffle lobster as a close second.

Was having a late dinner and didn’t want to get anything that was heavy, so my choice stopped on sushi. As I was approaching this place, I thought it was closed as it looked dark from the outside. Luckily, I saw someone walking in, so I decided to try it as well. This place is a Subway of sushi, but on the high end. I went with a 5-roles choice. The service was superb, the rolls were fresh. My personal favorite was with scallops - it had some tobiko, so added crunch to a soft scallop. Delicious. I also enjoyed truffle lobster roll. The service was superb! Highly recommend this spot.

Great casual setting for some premium hand rolls! Also great drinks! I love how friendly the staff is when they talk to you and take your order from behind the counter and give you your rolls one by one from there. You can really taste the difference :)

Very happy that they opened up another Hello Nori location in Toronto, this time closer to my office. It is a fantastic meal for a flexible price point and sure to impress a client, date, or friend. Their hand roll sets go from $23 (4 pieces) to $35 (6 pieces), which is extremely reasonable for the freshness and quality. I've tried their 6 roll option at their other location, and opted for the 4 roll option during my visit to York St. The service was quick and I could witness the freshness before my very eyes! I also appreciate that they offer happy hour from 2:30PM - 5:30PM, meaning I do not need to leave work early to catch a few cheap drinks! Their drink menu is 50% during this time and a $4 Sapporo is always welcome. The only thing I didn't love is that their seating is all bar style, so our group of 7 didn't work great with the layout. I could essentially only talk to the people on my immediate sides. It doesn't seem like big groups are the intended audience for Hello Nori anyways, so next time I'll just come with a smaller group.

First time trying Hello Nori yesterday, and to be honest, that might be my last visit. I appreciate the authentic experience seeing the chefs hand-make the hand rolls you order, but that's one of the better parts of the entire experience. The aburi sushi is delicious - definitely recommend that along with the salmon and truffle lobster hand rolls. Service was terrible - we weren't attended to, had to ask for our drinks including water while they were being offered to other diners around us. Also, diners around us were kindly greeted by the server and walked through specials etc. when we had the opposite experience: sat down, given the menus and nothing else.

My husband and I visited this Hello Nori a week or two after their grand opening. It’s convenient from where we work and live and the interior is beautiful and spacious. Not many seating, mostly at the bar since it is omakaze style, but comfortable, clean, and bright. Our visit was during an early lunch and the food and service were both excellent. The servers were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. The food was all fresh and top quality, we very much enjoyed every single bite of our meal. (Especially the lobster one!) pricing for what we get is very reasonable, especially for the quality that you get. Highly recommended and we will be back!
