Relatively cheap pints (£11.10 for Morretti & Neck oil), a lively atmosphere on a bank holiday Monday evening and a spacious, well appointed bar and beer garden, what more could you want from a pub? I came here during the Newcastle Liverpool game, and the pub had a partisan feel. Although Liverpool was more heavily represented, there was a contingent of Toon fans which had made a corner of the pub their own. There was advertising for an attached Thai restaurant. This was not open when I attended so I cannot speak for the quality of service or food. I will return and update this in the future. There was a separate games room with its own tv. This room had darts (free to play) and pool (£1 play). Both of these games were in good, usable condition. The toilets in the Wickham arms were of good quality for a pub of this standing. The men's cubicle toilet flushed well and effectively. There was adequate soap on the sink here. I enjoyed my trip to the Wickham arms and will definitely return. This will likely be to watch live sport as this venue was perfectly suited for such an occasion.

🚇 Brockley 🍺 £5.20 Cruzcampo The Wickham Arms is located on a quiet residential street in Brockley, southeast London. The nearest station is Brockley, on the Windrush Line. The pub was built in 1853 as part of Brockley’s suburban expansion in the 19th century. The architecture is classic Victorian, featuring an unusual one-storey extension to the side. This is a good-sized, traditionally decorated one-bar pub with a central horseshoe-shaped servery. To the left of the bar, there’s a cosy seating area with grey panelled walls, vintage beer signs, blue leather pews, a working fireplace, and a herringbone carpet. The central bar area has a mix of high and low seating, plus a couple of chesterfields on a wooden floor. On the right-hand side, there’s a pool table, dartboard, and a line of poser tables. Out back, there’s a large beer garden, which was getting a bit of a makeover when I visited. Out front, you’ll find a few benches next to a big palm tree. The beer line-up includes a mix of well-known brands, three cask ales, and some local brews from Brockley Brewery. I went for a pint of Cruzcampo — it was spot on, and just over a fiver. The food menu’s Thai and gets great reviews. The Pad Thai comes in at just over twelve quid. I arrived at 1pm on a warm Saturday lunchtime in April. The pub was fairly busy with a mix of punters, most of whom were watching the City v Palace game. The atmosphere was chilled and relaxed, with a proper down-to-earth local pub feel. Service was excellent — I was served by a lovely lady behind the ramp who was warm, welcoming, and friendly. This is a lovely local boozer, serving up reasonably priced pints in welcoming surroundings. A must-visit if you’re in the area. 📅 12th April 2025 If you want to see all my pub reviews in one place, head to @londonpubmap on Instagram. 🍻

Saturday night live music was such fun here and there were local pints on tap. For me a nice sing-song IS the true character of a London pub. We all miss the real Cockney places where there was a simple upright pianoforte and the regulars singing along. I’m ‘Scotch’ myself (Maryhill in north Glasgow) and this place is exactly the kind of proper ‘Laandan’ public house we all want to visit when we’re carrying on down here. It’s a solid, sound British pub carrying on the same good old traditions as all our good locals at home. Good on the staff and landlord for keeping it up to high standards this way. All the Cockneys should take note and come along, sing along, and give their support! Much love for a nice English pub from a Glaswegian!! 🍻🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇬🇧

Good live music and pool table, good garden front and back for the sunny afternoon cider, and Irish management so good creamy Guinness. 👌

Excellent proper pub with proper beer and decent wine. Local friendly feel with pleasant outdoor garden. Plus the musical entertainment can be absolutely world class.

We love the Wickham but don’t order the food for delivery because it must be the slowest service in London - still waiting after over an hour and we live pretty much 5 minute away! Let’s hope the food is awesome!

I was at the Wickham Arms on Saturday 07/09/2024. This place is full of good energy and beautiful people. The bar staff were all very polite, served drinks quickly and always looking to assist with what I needed. I tried Green Curry from Saijai Thai Cuisine which is served at the pub. I asked the chef to reduce the amount of spice and it turned out exactly how I wanted it. It's soo tasty, original Thai Food made by Thailand women, it was just soo delicious, mouth watering. I defiantly recommended this place. I will came back on my birthday next Saturday. Ahhh, I nearly forgot to mentioned, they also have Live. Music on Saturdays! I got to enjoy the music of Jonny Deptford. Good atmostphere at this pub.

Yelp
The Wickham is an old man's pub. This is not necessarily a bad thing (particularly if you happen to be an old man), but is not hugely endearing if you happen to drop in for last orders on a Sunday night. There is a lot of red velour happening, a jukebox with slightly bizarre selections and a beer garden at the back which consists of half a dozen tables planted higgledy piggledy in foot long grass (although, to be fair, there are tables in front sans grass and under some quite cute canopies). There is also a room solely dedicated to the noble sport of pool. The bar staff are always extremely courteous and very efficient. However, if you are not a local, prepare to be viewed with the utmost suspicion by everyone around you (possibly including me). You have been warned.

Yelp
A great little local with a lovely green garden. It may seem a little detail but so many pub gardens in London are patio based, the Wickham bucks that trend and has an actual lawn out back which is a very welcome change. It's a cosy little pub that's tucked away in a fairly residential area. Warm atmosphere, traditional decor and a hilarious mobile disco at the weekend. Have a look sometime!

Yelp
Very good and quiet pub, ideal if you are after a quiet night out and want to catch up with friends. You can easily find a table, as it never gets rammed. PROS: Live Music Program Amazing juke box Pool table Atmosphere - CONS: Stay away from the food, especially the Sunday Roast. Don't be deceived by the low price, the whole dish (meat, veggie, pudding) comes straight from the freezer into your plate. Must be some cheap Asda frozen product. Absolutely inedible.

Yelp
Ales aren't anything to write home about, food is even worse. Staff are great as are the people here, would be great if they stopped the live music and did decent ales and food most locals liked go else where
