Sheraton Grande. This is my best surprise of my trip in Kyushu this time. ||Location: it’s in the country club – a big part 30mins aways form center city with golf course, right next to the sea line and 10 mins from Aeon mall. Location is perfect||Hotel: room is very nice, you can tell it’s an old hotel but it’s superb well maintained. Love the décor. It gave you the wow of visiting a 5-start when you are like 8 years old. Big entrance, big lobby. I love the fact that they are still asking Platinum member to check in at the Sheraton club – a privilege that most Sheraton forget these days. I was upgraded to a corner suite overlooking the ocean so it’s superb quiet and I was thrilled to just look at the sea. ||Onsen: one of the biggest onsen in the region that looking at the trees in the park, very tranquil and I spent almost two hours with the onsen daily. Interestingly, my Essilor special lens of my glasses were completely damaged (coating ruined) probably by the onsen compounded with the high temperature at the sauna (95C). I’m fine but didn’t realize it could ||Breakfast: there are three options for breakfast, the Japanese one, the western buffet and the Sheraton Club. Didn’t try the Sheraton Club but the other two are amazing, the western buffet is superb good with all the variety of food. ||Sheraton Club: tried the happy hour… didn’t like it. Wine/sake are so so, beer is good. Food is so so. So I didn’t bother to visit the other night. ||Banyan Tree Spa: would love to try but running out time. ||Marriott privilege: they gave me a nice upgrade and free breakfast, so that’s good. Too bad they will no longer be under Marriott but I guess I will still stay with the them the next time.
