"Ciampini has all the required three P s (that's a thing, right?): People-watching, prime piazza location, and perfect cappuccini to make it the most coveted caffè bar in Rome. From 8 a.m. to after dark, Rome's best-dressed flock to Piazza San Lorenzo in Lucina for a caffè and cornetto, a light pasta lunch, or the evening's aperitivo . Counters are crowded, and tables are in demand(with a slightly higher fee for service) but well worth it to have your own oasis in the middle of the hubbub. A few minutes at the gelato bar is also worth your time—ice cream genius Sergio spends every morning making all the ice cream and granita flavors from scratch."

Our first taste of Rome’s espresso & ice cream magic: Terrazza Ciampini – coffee, gelato & Roman atmosphere at its best As tourists visiting Rome for only a week, we were looking for places that could give us an authentic taste of the city – and Terrazza Ciampini delivered far beyond expectations. It became our very first unforgettable experience with authentic Roman coffee and Italian ice cream, and we loved every minute of it. The location is simply perfect. After a walk through the beautiful Villa Borghese Park, one of Rome’s most impressive green spaces -filled with trees, paths, fountains, and a peaceful, classic Roman atmosphere-, we reached the elegant surroundings of Villa Medici. The café sits right in this charming zone. The terrace itself offers a refined yet relaxed environment. The service was exceptionally kind, attentive, and welcoming. The staff treated us with genuine warmth, making us feel comfortable even though we were first-time visitors and did not speak Italian. The caffè doppio was outstanding – rich, aromatic, and perfectly prepared. It was our introduction to Rome’s coffee culture, and we could not have asked for a better first impression. And then came the gelato. The menu describes it beautifully: “… ice cream is like a perfume. Everyone has his own. Mine has all the flaws of a homemade ice cream.” This sentence perfectly reflects the experience – artisanal, real, slightly imperfect in the best way, and absolutely delicious. The texture was creamy, the flavours were natural, and it felt like a handcrafted masterpiece rather than a commercial dessert. The ice cream alone is worth the visit. If you want great coffee, incredible gelato, and a beautiful setting surrounded by one of Rome’s best parks and piazzas, this is the place—a classy Roman pause in the middle of sightseeing – peaceful, scenic, and memorable. Highly recommended. A first excellent taste of Rome we will never forget.

We love this restaurant. We have been here twice on separate visits to Rome and each time we’ve had excellent service excellent meal and amazing views. We celebrated our birthday there and I’ve taken my sister and my nephew visiting from Germany saying that they will go back as well. We will be going there again in November and looking forward to it. Greetings from Canada🇨🇦

My mother and I were very lucky to come here on their last day for the season 2024. Our waiter, Romano, was extremely professional and pleasant, and the food was delish. Such a treat - and with a fab view!

Nice location with a pleasant terrace, but the experience was disappointing. It was very hot with only two small fans, making it uncomfortable. I asked for my food well done, but it came undercooked and had to be sent back. The chef clearly didn’t follow instructions. Needs improvement in both comfort and kitchen service.

Very tasty food at the top of the Spanish steps. The 6 of us split a couple of bottles of wine, and we each had pasta dishes and a couple of salads. All were very good. The view is great as well. Very nice owners son who talked to us for several minutes. Go for a nice and relaxing lunch.

loved everything about this place. we came at lunch and was serviced by Eskander who was very lovely and charismatic. Food was beyond incredible, had no idea seafood could be that soft. All seating is outdoors so definitely bring your own fan because it can get very hot.

Beautiful restaurant, exceptional service but very expensive. You pay for the views and the fabric tablecloths and towels. Good option only if you are very tired and hungry.
