I highly recommend renting a bike from here when visiting New Orleans. I rented a road bike - it was in excellent condition and came with everything needed to fix a flat. They have over 300 bikes so you’ll find something that fits your needs. Great customer service.

Highly recommend Bicycle Michaels if you need scooter or bike repairs. I've brought my scooter to Bicycle Michaels 6 or 7 times now, and every time they've taken care of it quickly and at a very reasonable price. Honestly, I'm just grateful they were willing to work on it at all, especially the time I showed up with a particularly stubborn tire that I know was a pain to deal with. But they got it on eventually, no complaints. This is officially my bike shop. I'll be bringing all my business here for the foreseeable future, which could be a long time. I come by so often they’ve got my name and number memorized, lol.

Exceptional! If you ride a bike, then go rent a bike from Michael. Cruise the French quarter or ride the bike friendly streets throughout the city. I went back and forth from here to there. Half day or full day rentals available. Bike came with a lock so I could stop for a beverage. Thank You Michael for the suggested tour I took in NOLA.

Had a great experience with the staff here. Came in not so sure about what I needed and felt confident and more educated when I left. Very knowledgeable and patient staff. Highly recommend for locals and visitors alike. They have pups too!

Everyone in the shop was so Friendly, even all the fluffy critters. Everyone was knowledgeable and very helpful. They ordered me a mini cadet And even Installed a Chrome Buckle on it for me. Their prices were very reasonable. I am grateful for their help and I love their shop. Would definitely return there again. I recommend that everyone support small businesses. Awesome local bike shop in the heart of NOLA. Walking distance from the French Quarter. Great rental experience. Will definitely go back when we visit again.

I took my electric scooter in to have the back tire replaced. There was a complication with the tire tube and they took care of it with no problem. I will certainly be back for all my needs. I highly recommend this place. And when you are there make sure to say hi to Morgan. These guys rock!

Wanted to give a huge kudos to Bicycle Michael's. Went into the store and was surprised at all of the items they have, floor to ceiling! If you don't see something ask! Staff was super helpful and had everything I was looking for much to my wallets dismay. Prices were fair and besides the jacket, shirts (x3), and a jersey. Almost rented a bike but ran out of time. As a disclaimer my name is also Michael so that did influence some of my buying. Jacket/Huddie is light weight and the material is very good. I wear it all day. Not ideal for super cold but for mild cool weather it is awesome. I like the card logo on the back as well. Jersey has New Orleans main attractions which is cool if you know the places but I think for my preference I would have preferred more of a bike logo or New Orleans in bold print so people know. Wear the jersey on all my rides and can say it is very comfortable and holds up well. Shorts are like the jacket, love them and giving as gifts. Bike rental: super fair price and they had several recommendations on where to ride. I just ran out of time and my wife doesn't ride so will attempt it on my next trip out there whenever that may be. Staff: super helpful and humorous, wife who doesn't ride came out of the shop with things to see and do. * At night time this street is also a local's hangout. Very lively and good place if you want to get away from the tourist traps. Very busy though and packed with people because it is still advertised however it is off the beaten path so you don't run into anyone trying to sell you free beads.

Absolutely the best service imaginable. We have a second home in New Orleans that we visit often and ride older "beater" bikes while we are there. Of course these bikes need alot of TLC. We have brought them to Bicycle Michael's whenever we have a problem and they always fix the problem at a very reasonable cost and very quickly. Michael and his staff are kind and do a great job explaining the work that needs to be done and are fine trying to fit in the work within our budget. Just the best. Do not hesitate to use them for work needed on your bike or to purchase a wide array of bike equipment.

Best bike shop in the downtown area! I needed a minor repair on my bike so stopped in to see the team at Michael's. Being the Thursday before Mardi Gras I knew my chances of getting in and out quickly were nil, but they told me to bring it in and they'd see what they could do. I was fully expecting to hear from them next week at the soonest, but got a text today (24 hours later) letting me know that it was finished and ready go. Picked my bike up a few minutes later, repaired, tuned up and ready to ride. Very fair pricing, too. I highly recommend Bicycle Michael's whether you're in the market for a new bike (regular or electronic) or a repair. They have free air and all the accessories you need to make biking safe and fun, too.

Bicycle Michaels is overpriced but very competent in all things that are bike related. They Re likely the most competent bike shop in New Orleans and located just off the Quarter on Frenchman St.

Huge shout out to this team! I bought a Jamis bike from them 2 years ago and have received nothing but FIVE STAR service from them. They will go above and beyond to explain everything to you about your service and are always fast and efficient!

Got a tire from them that was defective and they switched it out for me. I explained that my bike is my only mode of transportation and they switched it on the spot. Always awesome when a place stands by their products and their doggos were dope too. Thx guys.

You get what you pay for, and here you will pay a bit more than other local shops, but you will get experienced mechanical work. Which is worth it for me

The knowledge of Tim and Michael are second to now. In my research and search for an e-bike, I found their patience and knowledge unsurpassed as well as their good natured humor. I am so happy with my purchase as well as the post purchase service and support. I recommend Bicycle Micheals for any purchase or service needs on any brand ( they have worked on my Cannon, too.)

I've been going to Bicycle Michael's for over 20 years. They are not always the cheapest option (in the short term), but that's because they refuse to carry things that break too easily, and they stand by the products they carry. It is, however, cheaper in the long run to spend a bit more on the front end for something that will last a lot longer. That said, they do still carry some inexpensive options, but they tend be a lot more selective about which ones. With as many bikes as they fix there, they're very knowledgeable about which ones break. So, I highly recommend them because I trust that they will never sell me garbage, unlike a lot of other shops that either don't know or don't care which products are junk. On the rare occasion that I have purchased something from them that didn't live up to expectations they have always been great about repairing or replacing.

Long story. But I've been a bike and auto mechanic for more than 30 years. I stopped in looking for a 20.7 Seatpost. The manager fella said, "no you want a 22.2. I said I'm looking for a 20.7 he said there's no such thing. I said yes there is. I used a caliper to measure mine and I've serviced bikes that have used this post. He said " well you're in the wrong place, i can't help you. I turned around and left. I ordered my post online and received it with surprising speed. The worst thing about mechanics is when they're too stupid to admit there's something the don't know. Just say I've never seen one or I'm not familiar with that. Don't act like it doesn't exist! You forget that your customer may know more than you.. updated: look at the reply. Like I didn't actually order one metric.

TOP SERVICE ! My wife and I were hanging out for a few days in New Orleans, LA not too long ago while my wife attended a company conference. We like to ride bikes so I looked these guys up online before we landed. We were staying a few minutes away in Royal Street so it was handy to get our wheels here. The service was great, the bikes, helmets, locks etc did the job while we peddled around beautiful New Orleans. Hats off to Michael, Tim and the helpful lads. Keep in mind that these guys operate in a street chockers with great food, live music and pizzaz. That was from the Aussie you guys !

I go to school in the city and was really interested in purchasing a bike. Instead of buying online I decided to support locally. I came across this shop and decided to check it out. When I entered with a friend I began browsing and my friend asked one of the guys if they worked there so we could get help to better navigate the store. The guy that responded was so rude and had an attitude I assume was caused by a prospective customer wanting to make a purchase. I hope the most basic form of respect and decency is realized by this person so that ALL customers feel welcomed in this establishment.

My review is for accessories and tire repair. They offer high quality bicycle bags, helmets and security accessories. They carry Ortlieb brand bags and Abus quick release locks at reasonable prices and will install foe you. I had a flat repaired at another shop only to discover it was immediately flat again. Brought it here and it seems to be fine now. I was notified the tire was ready but when I got there 20 minutes after the text, the doors were locked. Waited 15 minutes after their stated opening time and still not open so I would recommend calling before you go just to make sure.

Knowledgeable, friendly staff, so I was confused when they set me up with a men's road bike rental that had a cheap girl's saddle on it. The rental price of $87 was also a tad steep, considering the budget bike they set me up with. Would I rent there again? Probably, altho I would insist on a different saddle!

Bought a bike online and took it in to finish assembly. Guy explained why online bikes are terrible bad blah blah blah. I use it to ride 6 blocks to when and back not the Tour de France. Attitude, Attitude, Attitude. 'We don't do that'. In the end he says they would do it for$155. Fair enough. Would have paid that happily but not to someone who treats me rudely. Being kind and helpful to people costs nothing.

Speaking purely from a customer service standpoint, I have visited the shop and called numerous time with questions/inquiries; some of the most patient, helpful people you'll find for your biking needs. Receptive to what I want, no pressure to buy, great selection of bikes. This is my first time buying a bicycle as an adult and being a potentially large purchase, they have been very open to finding what I'm looking for and offering support and suggestions. After my experience, I'm looking forward to finding my bike through them. Love supporting a local shop with with quality service. Bonus: they have adorable dog in the shop who keeps to themselves, but seems sweet and at home.

I don't use Bicycle Michael's often because they're not near my house, but I do use them for specialty work as they instill a sense of confidence in their competence. The work is quick and efficient, and always done to my satisfaction. Although rates are subjective in general, I find their prices for mechanic work commensurate, and in some cases a little lower, than other shops, which of course is a big plus. If there's any complaint, it would be that every time I get my bike back, there are numerous paint chips. I just wish they would handle with a little better care; maybe serious cyclists don't care, but even though I don't consider myself a poser, I like to maintain a decent finish on my bike.

These guys are so rude. I cannot explain why they get good reviews from other people - maybe they're nice to white guys. I walked in today after boycotting for 10 years because they were so pissy the last time I was in - the last many times I was in. And what do you know, a man walked in, needed help with his motorized bike, and they were so rude. Didn't just say we can't work on it but had to go on and on about how it wasn't worth their time and make the guy feel bad. He had even called ahead. It's his transportation to get to work. I won't darken their door again. I don't know how they stay in business. Lucky with a good location. And.... the reply to this review says it all.

I brought in my 1yr old Giant bike in when hearing sounds that made me think the bike would seriously fall apart within a few more pedal strokes. But I made it to Michael's. Tim took major awesome care of the bike, diagnosing the easy stuff then drilled down (figuratively) to find the core of the problems. Tim and Michael were very cool and chill to talk cycling with. After some grease in the lower crank thingy, brake alignment, chain cleaning and whatever mechanical Marvel's, the bike ride better than new. BETTER THAN NEW. So I'm way stoked about this place for any future repairs. BOOM.

Came in for a seat post clamp, hand grips, and brake pads for our 2 bikes and Holly, both Michael's, and Dave the dog are so awesome. We make a pass at least 3 bike shops from Mid-City as this bike shop is the best!

Well stocked and knowledgeable but pricey on merchandise. I haven't had work done here but they seem competent.

I rented a bike from Bicycle Michaels. The guys were nice enough, but I spent $80 to rent a 15-20 year old bike. I was hoping to ride for two days, but the seat and post were pretty old school and I could not get them to be level. I did a 50-mile ride and I was kind of spent from the poor seat and post. The folks I dealt with were nice and they were pretty much the only game in town so I didn't have much of a choice. When I returned the bike, I mentioned that I wasn't 100% happy and the guy behind the counts said that I should have just brought my bike from home.

Store looks legit. They probably know what they're doing - but poor customer service. The type with attitude, that are bothered to take your business. Don't waste your time. I walked out and found Alex's Bikes, a few blocks away, far better.

I had a great experience with Michael's bikes: I recently changed my back tire and (don't ask me how) managed to mess up re-attaching the back wheel/brakes. I wasn't too upset as my bike needed a tune-up anyway. Michael and his staff were very friendly, informative, and fixed/turned around my bike in less than 24 hours. I found this impressive as the last bike shop I used would regularly take about three days for any service. In addition, Michael's shop is willing to do maintenance work on e-bikes. A number of stores in the area refuse to touch them for "insurance purposes", so their willingness was a big help. Michael's also deserves a star for their extended weekend hours, a huge plus if you work longer hours.

I was slightly weary simply because I had read some of the reviews. I arrived at the shop 30 minutes before they closed, needing a new tube, wheel adjustment, brakes tightened. The guy explain they were about to close and it could be ready maybe today but tomorrow would be easier, which I understand. I hobbled a bit and the guy checked if I was okay, I explained old bike wreck injury and that I ride better than I walk, he then told me to come back at 5 and he'd have it ready( I am at times in a heep of pain due to a bicycle accident, walking from the Bywater to this shop had me in so much pain. Riding a bicycle is much easier for me). Sure enough it was ready at 5, that kindness saved me from a painful walk home and I am very greatful. I can't recall his name, really great staff thank guys. Customer service was subpar. The staff didn't really listen to the issue and was quick to say it probably couldn't be fixed. Paid &60 for a tune up and issues weren't resolved. Won't return.

Got some old school bike nerd in the shop. Highly recommend. That boy Axle is as helpful as he is wild.

An owner that has passion for what he does and is proud of his business. It shows in the way he runs things. It's sad that people leave reviews that have nothing to do with recommending a place for its value, or understanding our humanity. Any little thing that didn't go your way, and you run to Yelp to bash someone? WTH? I've found this place to be helpful and honest with its dealings.

Excellent service! Went into Bicycle Michael's with my mountain bike and was unsure exactly what needed to be repaired or replaced. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Michael was able to quickly identify and explain what the issue was with the bicycle in a clear manner, and he was able to fix it right away. We were in and out in under half an hour. I'd absolutely recommend Bicycle Michael's for any bicycle issues, as they were both very professional and friendly.

Rentals are $25 per day, which seems a little steep. You have to return the bikes by 11 am the next day, no matter what time you rent them - so you have to show up when they open at 10 am to get the full value. It would be better if you could return them 24 hours after you take them out. The disposition of the staff is nonchalant bordering on surly. Sample exchanges: Q: "could I have the bike I rented yesterday?" A: "ahhhh.... that bike's all the way in the back, with a bunch of other bikes in front of it. So we'll give you another." Q: "could I get a basket attached to my bike?" A: "Sure, it's $5 extra." [after fiddling with the basket for a minute]: "I'm having some problems attaching this. Are you sure you need it?" But I didn't notice anywhere else to rent bikes in the area, so you'll have to suck it up. The bikes aren't fancy, but totally adequate.

As a local this is where I get my parts, repairs, accessories and kind information about it all. They can usually tell me approximately how many beers I can consume before my bike is ready. Two to three casual beers at a neighboring adult beverage center and my bike is usually ready or at least its on the bench and in the works. It can get a little crowded when the renters are in town. Its a small shop so just a few people in there and it gets a bit to cozy. The staff works hard to keep everyone taken care of. Michael and Tim are a wealth of information on everything bicycle. And straight shooters too.

A group of my friends and I went to New Orleans end of October. All experienced bicyclists, we knew we wanted to check out NOLA on bikes. Although we read some negative feedback about Bicycle Michaels on other websites, we went in anyway since we were staying in the neighborhood. I cant imagine, for the life of me, how anyone could have a negative experience here. This is a great bicycle shop with knowledgeable and friendly staff! We rented our bikes for two days and being on a bike is the best way to see and experience NOLA. It is fantastic!! They even provided bikes that suited our body types the best. Ie, tall and short. The price is definitely reasonable and I would suggest forking over the $5 for the basket!! You will need it!! We were sad to give our bikes back and even hung around in the store chit chatting the staff up. During this time the sky being to pour, and lacking umbrellas, one of the owners suggested we go next door to d.b.a. for a cocktail. It was the best advice ever as this was, hands down, our favorite place & night in NOLA with live music and dancing!! I am definitely going back to NOLA and most definitely renting a bike from Michael's again!!!

Just recently purchased a used Schwinn Sierra at a great price. The bike is a perfect fit and man does it ride fast and smooth. Michael and his staff were great at fitting me with the best bike I could afford. They also have a great selection of accessories and gear. No cheap stuff here all to quality, plus they do great repair work at a fair price especially considering that he is in the quarter. Always a popular stop for any cyclist in New Orleans local or otherwise.

I rented a bike for four days and all went well. The bike was well maintained, and the cost was reasonable.

Recommended by our hotel concierge and I'm glad they were. Did the business efficiently and were accommodating. Brought out the right sized bike the first time; all checked and ready to roll. A real bike store for real cyclists; not set up just to cater to tourists. Get a clean, decent helmet for just 5 bucks extra.

So I contacted about 5 or so places about cutting down my long/high carbon seat post, and a few places didn't have the right blade/tools while others didn't have a person available or they were trying to charge $30 for a simple 2 min job. Even though I went earlier on this busy ass Saturday to their store in the middle of Frenchman St. knowing there'd be no parking, I knew they'd be worth it. Tim over the phone explained the process and the tools and was confident they could do it without fking up my expensive baby. He was right and even showed me how he did it when I was there watching... plus offering me the excess piece for IDK? Whatever I might need it for I guess....but I let him have it. No. Not beat him up silly. Just let him have the leftover seat post piece. FYI I pulled right in front with my emergency lights on and my pom baby in the car, bc I was confident I'd have success here and be out in less than 10 mins. I was! 6 mins and it was only $10. Yes! Going back for whatever I need next time. P.s. they had a really nice selection of seats, locks, lights, bike knick knacks, etc. I don't know how they managed to fit it all in there, but they did.

I'm a local cyclist who works downtown and needed some help. They had a sign that they don't look at anything/work for free. I told them the issue I was having, and they helped immediately, took a couple minutes, no charge. I think the fact that I was somewhat bike savvy and had a bike that I take care of may have affected their treatment. The person riding a 4 year old bike that has never seen a cleaning and barely knows which side is the front (handlebar side) may get different treatment.

What a great find and a wonderful day! I found the bike shop pretty easily as it was a straight shot down Royal Street and then a quick right onto Frenchman. The walk from Monteleone Hotel to the shop was about 18 mintues and was really a great walk as there were many shops to see along the way. When I arrived they were already helping a few customers but acknowledged me right away. I was set up with a bike, lock and suggestions of where to go in about 15 minutes. Staff was great - very friendly and helpful and I would go back there again in a heartbeat. The bike ride was great - went towards Audubon Park and then the Levee Bike Path for a bit. The Park was amazing! I had gone to City Park the day before which was also nice - but if I only had time to choose 1, then Audubon would win out hands down. It was super easy to get to - down Royal Street and the I followed the St Charles trolley the entire way. There were some amazing houses along the way and plenty of places to stop for a beverage or treat of your choosing. CAUTION: I am used to riding in the city so I didn't mind being on an agressive roadway or the busy streets that started this route. Thanks to Michael's Bicycles for selecting the route! I got lost - sort of on purpose - on the way back as I was in no rush to get back. Was gone for about 4 hours. P.S. Levee Bike Path was just ok - I think after seeing the beautiful homes, interesting neighborhoods and churches, the cement pathway was quite bland, even with the River view.

We rented bikes ($25 per day) for one day (11am-11am). Locks came with the bikes, but my lock jammed, so we had to ride back to the shop to get a new one. I got a flat, and they changed the tire quickly (beware broken glass post-mardi gras). The guys working there were friendly and helpful. One thing to note: the shop is not open on Wednesday. We rode all over the city. The best riding was near Tulane and Loyola, a bit away from the crowds.

Rented a mountain bike for a day, $25. A good deal imo. Included a lock. Helmet extra I think. They took the time to draw two different routes I might take on a map (I bought the map) so's I'd know where I might ride. Good shop, good experience. Since they close at 5, you have until 11am the next day to turn in the bike. As to the route - and this is not really related to review of Michael's - I chose the one up Esplanade then out to Lake Ponchartrain via Wisnel (sp ?) street. Two observations: 1) lakefront not that great - no water to be found and not a whole heckuva lot of scenery. Maybe its nicer in cooler weather. 2) Marconi Loop (I think that's what its called) along City Park has great bike lanes.

Service is their hallmark. They sell just about every quality bike part you can imagine and the repair guys get you in and out. I had an ABUS ulock that got stuck (wouldnt open), i took it in, TIm greased it up and pounded the hell out of it till it released. upon further inspection, the locking mechanism was trash.. He gave me a new lock, no questions asked and i was on my way. They stand behind their stuff.

Reasonably friendly, they are very to-the-point. We were visiting for a few days and they rented us bikes for a half day jaunt around the city - they have a good system where you don't commit to a length of time ahead of time, you simply pay for a half day (25) or full day/overnight (50) depending on how long you use the bike. They were also really cool in that I was able to negotiate a 'special' rate to run an errand across the city to pick up my newly repaired shoes in time for a wedding!
