The music in the nutcracker was so memorable. The dancers were elegant and captured the essence of the nutcracker experience.

My daughter attended one year here and she did amazing. We couldn’t continue because we moved to a different city and this is one of the things we will miss the most. They have classes for almost all ages and it is incredible. I don’t think there is a ballet school like this one in the whole state of Florida. I feel blessed my daughter was able to be part of it.

Miami city ballet in Miami Beach is a gift. This small city is lucky to have a center dedicated to the arts. Seeing as how the beach is mostly populated with hotels restaurants and apt buildings. The parking in the area isn’t easy but neither is ballet.

I bought tickets to the Nutcracker and the email / directions sent directly by Miami City Ballet sent me to the wrong building and caused me to be a few minutes late. Despite buying expensive tickets, upon arrival I was told I had to go to the 4th floor because it was “late arrival seating.” Per the venue, Miami City Ballet - the very entity that incompetently gave me the address for the wrong building and directly caused said late arrival - refused to allow the venue to permit anyone to head to their assigned purchased seats after the show started. The venue advised that they were actually making an accommodation by letting me take a seat on the 4th floor in the rafters. It was hard to see from wayyyy in the back but, for what it’s worth, the performance was unimpressive in and of itself. If I could leave less than 1 star I would.

I only have one complaint. They have increased significatively the ticket prices. Right now you can only get a min of $40 ($45 after fees) in the worst seats of the theater (top tear). I hope the can make affordable watching ballet for low income people again.

The Best ! The Security at the Entrance was very nice with all the Parents outside waiting for the Students.

I do not typically write reviews, but I feel obliged. My family attended the Nutcracker at The Kravis Center in Palm Beach on Dec. 30, 2023 and I have to say it was the BEST performance of the Nutcracker I have ever seen. I did see the Nutcracker in NYC when I was a child but I do not remember the performance being this spectacular. Accolades go to the dancers, choreographers, and the orchestra and the conductor. They all had to take many bows and we all stood in awe. My twin boys who are 10 years old said it was awesome! and were quiet for the entire performance :0) GREAT JOB!

Very effective training, you have to invite Sergeï Polunin to Miami, and not do like the Paris Opera

I saw their Swan Lake production at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts. Having such a huge company doesn't mean it's better. There are more opportunities not to be synchronized. There's one part with 2 ladies and a man. One of the women is a bit late. Also the clucking sound of the ballet shoes is distracting. It's not bothersome when it's in sync with the music. Also, it would have been nice to differentiate the primary ballerina with a different costume as she's just look like the rest of the ballerinas. In sum I just got bored.

I've enjoyed Miami City Ballet company performances for many years. I had the opportunity to take an open adult ballet class and it was outstanding. The studio is beautiful. Very clean. Great floor. Everyone was very welcoming from the security guard to the receptionist to other students. Claudia Lezcano Anel is a fantastic teacher. She breaks down movement in a way that is easy to comprehend and put into motion. Her class is a great pace and she shows that she cares about the students' experience.

Wow! I was invited by a friend to see the Miami City Ballet in one of their performances of George Balanchine's The Nutcracker in the Park. I am not really knowledgeable when it comes to ballet; however it sounded intriguing since there aren't many holiday parties or events happening this year. There were 14 scheduled performances beginning on December 18th and ending on December 31st. (The first performance was free for first responders.). We were lucky enough to attend the first Saturday night performance and had the most perfect chilly Miami weather! (All performances sold out well in advance.). The venue was beautiful Doral Park & the tickets were sold as "pods" for 4 people so that everyone would be socially distanced. Each pod was outlined with paint in the grass & 4 guests are allowed inside each pod. There were pods for ground seating, (bring your own blanket,) and pods with chairs. (Chairs included). We had a pod about 3/4 of the way back, (Row Q,) And there was plenty of room to spread our chairs out how we wanted for a clear view. The park was lit up beautifully with a variety of colored lights and there were port-a-potties along the side since the venue was outside. Free parking was also included. The show had a beautiful mix of a large animated screen displays between scenes and of course amazingly talented ballet dancers in elaborate, gorgeous costumes. I was blown away by the beauty and intricacy of the entire production and of course it also had the enchanting score by Tchaikovsky. Marie, the Sugarplum Fairy, and all the other dancers did an incredible job! Our tickets were approximately $35 each; and it was well worth the price paid! I hadn't seen The Nutcracker performed in more than 10 years, however I might be making a trip to see the Miami City Ballet's performance an annual event!

A rounded pleasant looking building situated in Collins park and located near to the new Collins parking garage - Nice to see some interesting architecture whilst there.

Best ballet in the south east USA, probably top 10 in the states. Edward Villella's artistic vision blossomed into a world class company, still proudly representing the Balanchine repertoire. A beautiful modern studio. Performances are always well produced. The season schedule is diverse and full of quality choreography. They have a nice mix of classical, neoclassical, and contemporary. The company has a boutique feel, with just 40 dancers, but high quality technique and musicality, and stunning performances. My gf and I came to visit the studio on our break, and we saw Justin Pek was here a few days ago :)

Went to see nutcracker suite last year and I'm old fashioned just recently. This is an amazing company of top notcch artists and very innovative pieces. There is a nice mix of old and new, and to be able to see the ba alley with a livee orchestra makes my heart sing!!!!

This place makes you take a Covid test as you walk in the door if you can't present a vaccine card. If you are vaccinated, you can walk straight in as if you couldn't get or carry Covid, which is totally against what the CDC says. Your Covid tests has to be less than 3 days old. After passing the test, you have to wear a green wrist band identifying you as a "cleared unvaccinated" person. It's like wearing a STAR. The refreshment stand is outdoors, and you can't eat inside as that would require you to take off your mask. This seems ridiculous after having to pay $40 for a Covid test. All in all, the whole experience was a bit draining and leaves a bad taste in your mouth. I would take my daughter to the ballet every year. Needless to say, I will never go again.

I have been taking the beginner ballet open-classes for over a month now and can say that these classes are really great. They are not your typical beginner classes, some ballet knowledge and expertise is recommended, but not required. The instructors are wonderful and tailor instruction to meet your level, but you really must keep up. These classes will keep you on your toes!

Miami City Ballet is one of our city's greatest and most beloved treasures. In its more than 30 years, it has emerged to become one of the leading dance companies in the United States. Each and every performance by Miami City Ballet that I have attended, has been beautifully and flawlessly executed. Although I have enjoyed many of the ballets in its repertoire, I'm noting the production of George Balanchine's The Nutcracker which they performed at the Ziff Ballet Opera House at The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in December. As this was a new production with updated costumes and set designs by the famous team of Isabel and Ruben Toledo, I had secured front row seats where I could view the performance, the artistry, the costumes and the orchestra from my enviable vantage point. I hoped that the redesign would live up to the buzz that had surrounded it for months. Miami City Ballet didn't disappoint, and the great reveal was worth the wait. As much as I loved the previous version, which I had seen several times, this new production was stellar, gorgeous and glorious. The costumes, which invoked the tropical colors of South Florida, featured intricate designs, updated silhouettes and moved beautifully on the dancers. Large new sets made for grandeur and fantasyland on the stage. Special effects enhanced the backdrop and made the opening snow scene and the soaring Christmas tree particularly enchanting and memorable. Most important, the dancers were effervescent, exuberant and a joy to watch. Even the playbill was special with whimsical and lovely illustrations by Ruben Toledo. My favorite scene: Arabian Coffee in her beautiful jewel-toned costume, her languid and sinuous movements combined spectacular jumps! The enthusiasm of the orchestra in unison with the artistry of the dancers made for a phenomenal and magical performance. Continued success and well-deserved applause Miami City Ballet!

Superb performances. The students are so talented and very professional. Every seat is good here regardless of where it is. The location is fabulous as well.

I just saw MCB's Program Two and it was breathtaking! The dancers are superb. If you're into dance, go watch the Jerome Robinns Centennial Celebration. You'll enjoy dance all the more after viewing the different dances he created. Well done MCB for bringing his work to life.

Usually, I write about restaurants, food, festivals, art and theater. However, I am out of my element when it comes to writing about dance. So, for the sake of growth and trying new things, I attended the Broward Center for the Performing Arts last week to bare witness to an astounding repertoire of Tradition and Innovation performed by the Miami City Ballet. This assortment of dance featured Divertimento No. 15 (Balanchine/Mozart), a Duo Concertant (Balanchine/Stravinsky), Don Quixote Pas de Deux (after Petipa/Minkus) and Euphotic (Scarlett/Liebermann). "Divertimento No. 15" was reminiscent of an ideal time when courtesy, chivalry and tranquility coexisted. The usage of space, patterns and groupings was brilliant. In addition, the women's classical tutus and the men's Shakespearian tunics gave the piece an air of formality. It was classical ballet at its best. During "Duo Concertant", a talented duo danced onstage to both piano and violin accompaniment. The dancers reminded me of cats performing gymnastics as they contorted their bodies through an array of sequence maneuverings. Their dancing, romantic and organic to the stage, also reminded me of the electrifying dance patterns found in West Side Story. This piece was a challenging test for both the musicians and dancers. They performed incredibly well. True to the program book, Don Quixote Pas de Deux was dangerously fast and exceedingly demanding. This act celebrated the wedding of the enthralling young lovers Kitri and Basilio. While watching the Caballerismatic male dancer, I was enthralled by his old-world chivalric masculine code of honor and strength. It was a dance-packed feast, full of romance and bravado. The dancers must have been high on "Red Bull" or have just trained for a marathon as their physical endurance was impeccable. I was very much looking forward to seeing EUPHOTIC, directed by the 25-year-old Liam Scarlett, the most successful young choreographer at Britain's Royal Ballet. I was trying to see his vision of wanting something very subliminal, like the two opposing extremes of the ocean and sky, something like when you are underwater and you open your eyes and you get this wonderful play of light in the water. Indeed, what he created was in sync with his vision. If we are lucky, fairies from the otherworld may appear to us. Like seeing a fairy, I felt like I was transported to a different kind of otherworld. This world was one where I could view light, water, color, harmony and chaos come together to create life. I was brought deep into an uninterrupted, ancient underworld where this ritual called "life creation" and photosynthesis occurs every day, but our eyes just don't see it... as unfortunately, we can only see less than one-percent of the electromagnetic spectrum. Tradition and Innovation explored the relationship between traditional ballet and innovative ballet. When these two themes are brought together, they help the audience formulate a better collective understanding of our culture and who we are. Indeed, "How can we know who we are and where we are going if we don't know anything about where we have come from and what we have been through, the courage shown, the costs paid, to be where we are?" Took beginner here and miss it so much, haven't found anything close to it in Palm Beach county, Attention Adult Ballet Teachers!! your needed in PBC!!

It's amazing how badly organized The City of Miami Ballet The Nutcracker was planned on this Pandemic year 2020. First parking is not clear, we followed the instructions and ended up having to ask someone in the street for additional info,..second they canceled the event without previously advising customers. We were standing in line along with others, and were FINALLY after a half hour wait informed by a security guard that the event was canceled. So dissappointed!! At least if they would have had a staff person present or a sign..but nothing. We were standing in line with cold weather to then receive the bad news. The pods for what we could see are not comfortable seating for a 2 hour show..the bathrooms are like for construction sites...the only thing that looked appealing were the Christmas lights...don't waste your time going to the Nutcracker at the park at Doral Park. It's not worth your time or money. We will be requesting a full refund. After checking our email the cancelation notice was sent 2 hrs prior to the performance....our tickets were automatically changed to another night of their preference. One that we will not be able to attend due to our work schedule. To top it off the security guard was informing everyone to come back tomorrow with our tickets for today's performance....that we would be accommodated at least sitting on the lawn. A lie!!!!

Apart from the breakthrough concept of neo-classical ballet from the school of Balanchine, Miami City has always been that whimsical place in my heart. I'm an experienced dancer and have always had the pleasure and luck of attending open classes and workshops at the ballet. The open classes are great to keep up with my training and the facilities are luxurious (if you're from the dance world, luxury is non existent). Go to a show or take class one day, you won't regret immersing yourself in true local art flavor.

Their box office service is terrible. They made a mistake while booking tickets and asked us to pay changing fees! These people are so unprofessional!

Took a couple of open ballet classes here. $12 with student ID made it really affordable. Kris is a wonderful instructor. My only complaint was the amount of people in the evening beg. class. There were too many for the instructor to make more than superficial corrections. Fyi, parking for about 2 hours is about $4 and the "beginner" classes are for intermediate dancers while the advanced classes are for professionals.

I think this is the most professional ballet studio in Miami area. I took my girl there to take some ballet classes because our gymnastics coach recommended it (my daughter is in professional gymnastics team), and I was very impressed how her choreography skills improved within a short period of time. Unfortunately their location is a bit far from us so we did it only for 1 year. But the place is very professional and i would highly recommend it.

Cool spot next to bass museum! Great spot to watch the ballerinas practice for gratis!
