We were on the way to Nashville when we made a lunch stop in downtown Chattanooga, TN at Feed Table & Tavern.
The atmosphere was really nice, big open spaces and multiple seating options with different dinning type rooms. We sat at the bar.
Our bartender greeting us right away and her services throughout our lunch was perfect.
We had the smoked wings as an app., they were good, but lacked the smoke I was looking for. My girlfriend loved them and said the smoke was perfect. Overall the wings were really good.
For main we had pastrami sandwich with greens and wagyu smash burger with tot's. The pastrami was over salted, so much so I could not eat it all. The greens were full of great flavors but so over salted that I could not finish eating it, I was so bummed. I suspect the greens were cooked with salt, a cured ham or something to that effect. The pastrami, because I asked, was marinated in their own brine. I think you have to be careful because you have salt in the sauerkraut, and the sauce and in the bread then brine the pastrami and you have a salt bomb.
My girlfriend said the same about her burger, it was way over salted to the point she could not finish it. The Tots were over cooked and over salted. I tried one and immediately tasted the high level of salt. It appears they toss them in a salt and pepper seasoning?
As we continued our journey to Nashville we both agreed our mouths felt like you do after eating a bucket of popcorn, the tongues numb and very dry mouths.
Cool place but I wouldn't eat here, all that salt is not healthy, actually its very bad for you. Try cooking with more herbs and spices vs. adding salt. And leave the salting to the table.
