"Fish 'n' Chips If there's a single most iconic Seattle meal, it's probably fish and chips. We're rightly famous for our salmon, which is very tasty when given the batter-fried treatment, but halibut may be the most popular choice for locals (and well worth the extra couple of bucks). While I wouldn't presume to name the "best" fish and chips, Capitol Hill's Pike Street Fish Fry (next to Neumos) serves up a small but delicious menu of batter-fried and grilled seafood and fish sandwiches; their grilled garlic-butter shrimp is amazing, and under $10. On Free Fry Fridays, they feature cheap beer and free fries. Other notable places include the omnipresent Ivar's (including an airport location for a last-minute fix), the Pacific Inn Pub, Spud, Sunfish, the Lockspot, and Emerald City Fish & Chips in Rainier Valley for a soul-food twist."

The guys working there were very cool. I went there for lunch, and although the sign said they should be open, there was a closed sign up. I went in, and they said they were behind from the previous night...if I wanted to wait, they'd have things ready in 20 minutes. No big deal, I chilled for a bit. Then I asked for a beer and got one on the house since I was waiting - a very cool gesture. When I got my fish and chips, everything was worth the wait - did the cod with tartar sauce (pretty traditional) and the batter was perfect - light and crispy. The fish melted in my mouth! It was delicious. All around a great experience, it was nice to kick back and wait around for a while, actually - it's good during a busy vacation to just sit back and enjoy your surroundings! Thanks Fish Fry, I'll be back.

Walking into this hole-in-the-wall restaurant, I wasn't expecting much more than some quick bar type food before catching a show at Neumo's. I happy to say that I was pleasantly surprised. I tried one each of the fish, shrimp and Field Roast tacos with an order of fires on the side. The tacos were great! The fish was nice and crispy and the Field Roast sausages were perfectly browned. The shrimp was a little plain but the rest of the fillings in the taco made up for it. The fries were were crispy...just the way I like them. Definitely worth a visit when you're in the area.

Hipster dive which caters to the late night drunk scene. Nothing beats fried anything, but there wasn't much quality control on the fish. Cooks were haphazardly putting in different orders and while the fish came out very crispy, the fries were practically burnt with no starchy soft texture. This place will fix your initial craving but it's not going to be worth repeat visits.

Don't let the drunken hoards from Nuemos next door deter you from trying this place out. They have the best fish and chips in town. Small place without too a lot of seating, it's not a date night place? But a perfect alternative to fast food. The drunken sorority girls and their admired stumble in about 1:45.

Real fish and chips is something I miss from Australia. I was also craving fried greasy stuff when I stopped in. So, I ended up getting a fish taco and fries. not quite what I planned, but hey. It was cheap, delicious and incredibly messy. Perfect. Next time. I'll share the fries - the serve is enormous.

My husband and I ate here last night, we both had the fish and chips. I've grown up on Ivars, and had fish and chips in Ireland, Scotland, England. You have ruined me for any other fish place, our meal last night was by far away the best fish and chips I've ever had... and I'm NOT really a fish person, I have to be in the mood for it... However, I have a feeling I'm going be craving yours for a while. Wish we lived closer, or you had a shop up north a bit, it'd be our go to place.

Pike Street Fish Fry is one of those places you go to when you're having a rough week. You just want something greasy - but not too greasy - and awesome. Their fries are awesome, but what shines are their proteins. Even their grilled portobello mushrooms are awesome, and everything fried comes with a fried lemon wedge. Get the lemon wedge. It will make your day. The coleslaw is nothing worth ordering, and I really wish they had functional to-go boxes. But these are minor issues that don't detract from what this place does wel: fried things with lemon wedges.

Tiny little storefront that feels like a food truck. The menu is short but the taste is long. Enjoyed the fish and sauces, grilled asparagus, and the fries. Service is a tad slow but the vibe is cool...very hipster-friendly. Out the door for 3ppl $40.
