"Located in the historic town of Melrose on a picturesque market square, Burts Hotel is a local institution. The 18th-century property has been owned and managed by the same family for nearly four decades, having been restored and extended to retain its original charm but also offer modern conveniences. The 20 individually styled rooms feature luxurious linens, comfy furnishings, and uniquely Scottish character, while a three-bedroom, self-catering cottage offers the chance for a more independent stay. Also available to guests is the Bistro Bar serving local fare next to a roaring fire, and an award-winning restaurant with gourmet cuisine and wines and 90 different single-malt Scotch whiskies to match."

A very good hotel - and I wished my one night stay had been longer. My single room was small but very comfortable and contained everything you are likely to need. The restaurant served great food and breakfast was cooked to order. Service really attentive without being annoying.

Burt's Hotel is perfect for a short break in Melrose - situated in the town centre it's perfectly located. Rooms are tastefully decorated and comfortable. Staff were very attentive. We had breakfast and dinner at Burt's and it was brilliant - fabulous quality and very well presented. We will definitely be back.

We popped in for some lunch today, would highly recommend and will be back when we visit Melrose again. We almost didn't go due to the none dog friendly reviews. Was very dog friendly, the manager even gave our dog biscuits! Fish and chips was lovely and sticky toffee pudding was delicious! Thanks 👍

We had a one night stay with dinner and breakfast. Service at Burt's is exceptional, such friendly and attentive staff. The food is amazing. I ordered from the varied and thoughtful vegan menu. The charred asparagus starter was delicious and the crispy oyster and shitake mushroom burger was sensational. The breakfast options were also stellar and a great start to the day. We will definitely be back x

Didn't stay in the hotel but had an evening meal in the restaurant. The restaurant is very sophisticated with nicely laid and separated tables. But best of all it is dog free, sadly increasingly rare for someone with a pet allergy, especially in Melrose where 'dog friendly' seemed to take precedence over 'people friendly' . Our meal was very nice but topped by the server, a very nice, friendly and local lady, who made our evening on a special occasion.

Definitely not dog friendly. We booked a meal after asking if they were dog friendly and told absolutely. Our 10 month old puppy was a little barky wanting food nobody around us were bothered . We were asked by a member of staff to keep him quiet. We felt embarrassed and upset and left not able to finish our meals . Please do not give them custom if you have a dog they are definitely not dog friendly and food is over priced . Ruined our last night in the e lovely melrose

Please Please don’t go here if you intend taking your dog. They advertise as dog friendly they certainly aren’t. Our young dog barked a couple of times and the jumped up foreign female manager told us that he was upsetting other eaters and be quiet. We quickly finished off our food paid the bill and left with our half empty bottle of wine. The Ship pub at the top of the high street is far superior, definitely dog friendly and the food is superb. Would never recommend Burts Hotel 👍

We popped into the Burt's for an evening meal last Tuesday, with our yellow lab (dog friendly)|I had lamb my husband haddock in a butter sauce, everything about it was top class, veggies just the way they should be with a little cruch, we both commented to each other that is was 1st class. Hence we feel it deserves to me mentined and shared. |The young lady who served us was so friendly and polite and made our experiance everything a meal out should be. ||Gold star to all concerned
